| KISS |
[Jul. 3rd, 2009|01:16 pm] |
I work at the casino, and the TV screens showing the upcoming concerts are showing "great seats still available" on the KISS screens.
I'd thought that show was sold out long ago, but apparently not. So, if you still want to go, it wouldn't hurt to toddle on down to the Box Office on the second floor to see what's available. The box office is open Wednesday-Sunday, 12-8 on non-show days and 12-12 on show days.
According to the ticket finder on Ticketmaster, the available seats seem to be in the tiered mezzanine seating at the top. Not what I'd really term "great", but not horrible, either - no pillars in your way, but you're way at the top of the Colosseum.
I don't get anything from the show being sold out, except the satisfaction that someone who'd otherwise thought they'd missed out gets to go. After all, it's not every day KISS comes to Windsor. Personally, I'm wishing I'd kept a sick day available for that day. :-) |

Hey all, is there a place in Windsor or somewhere you can recommend online to get photos blown up and printed to the size of a poster?
Any ideas on cost would be great too.
TIA. |

| Apartment Rental Companies |
[Jun. 26th, 2009|04:47 pm] |
So my SO and I are looking for a new apartment for September, and we would prefer to stay with a Rental company rather than an individual owner. Aside from Boardwalk and Timberlane, does anyone know of any other property management companies in the area that rent 2 bedroom apartments? We want to stay out of the West End and the Downtown Area for safety reasons.
Thanks for any leads! |

Ok, is there any quick way I can get a passport (before July 17). Something came up and I need to get to New York. Would it be quicker to get the driver's license with the chip?

so i got a free camera (yay!) it's a canon powershot g2. the only problem is it didn't come with any of the cables or anything. all i have is the camera and the battery pack. i managed to find them online but shopping online with paypal takes FOREVER. so i was wondering if anyone knew somewhere i could take this camera where they would sell the parts? i've looked on the website of places like futureshop and the source and they don't seem to sell the cords i need, which i figured because it's kind of an old camera. right now i especially need the 9.5 v dc power cord to charge the battery pack. thanks in advance. |

| Donations/Furniture |
[Jun. 17th, 2009|11:30 pm] |
I just graduated and will be moving back to Toronto so I have a few things that I don't need to take back.
There used to be clothing donation bins in various parking lots. Do these still exist? If so, where can I find one that's relatively close to the university? If not, where would you recommend I donate clothes I don't need anymore?
As well, I have a couple of cans of food I'd rather not lug back home. Are there always food donation bins at the grocery stores? I seem to only really notice them around the holidays. Anywhere else I could take them?
Lastly, I have a few final pieces of furniture to get rid of. A day bed from Ikea (http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/90073978) plus twin spring mattress. A small computer desk plus computer chair. Leave a message or e-mail me at kay_gina@hotmail.com for photos or more details.
Thanks!
ETA: Thanks for all your help! |

i want to hear some stories about strikers. stories about them shamelessly breaking the law and putting people's well-being in danger. we've all heard at least a few, so tell me about the best ones.
i especially like what my mom told me the other day. she said that some strikers were smashing glass bottles into a sandbox at a park. a sandbox that children play in. and as parents were trying to clean the glass up, they continued to smash bottles. that is completely soulless. how can hurting innocent children with glass cuts get you anywhere in life?
can someone tell me why these people are so untouchable? why aren't they being arrested for littering and public endangerment? why did i have to ride my bike through tire-high grass today? why can't these strikers see that they're becoming terrible monsters? i'm sure they were nice people once, but now they are just being ridiculous.
i'm hoping that there will be something of a divide in the group of strikers. i'm hoping the good ones will break apart from the retarded ones and say HEY WE'RE NOT LIKE THIS. WE'RE NOT GOING TO ENDANGER CHILDREN. WE'RE NOT GOING TO ATTACK CITIZENS FOR WANTING A CLEAN PLACE TO LIVE IN. WE'RE GOING TO ACT LIKE ADULTS. does anyone think this will happen? something needs to happen to stop this insanity.
so tell me the stories you've heard, the things you've seen, your thoughts on how this can be put to an end, what you would do if you ever encountered a striker doing something illegal. personally, if i saw a striker smashing glass anywhere near a playground, i would tackle them and punch them in their head. and i'm a 5"3' tall girl. and if i was driving and a striker jumped on my car and wouldn't get off, i would run them over. i'm completely serious. they are turning my environment into a cesspool and it has to be stopped. |

| Nice non-Windsor parks? |
[Jun. 9th, 2009|01:44 pm] |
I'm looking forward to a nice 4-day weekend coming up, 13-16th, and I want to go and lose myself in a book at a nice park. I live near Jackson Park, and that's where I'd usually go, but since I don't own a scythe (and I'd probably get picketed for clearing away a spot for myself), I'm looking for park suggestions that aren't in Windsor.
Basically, I'm looking for a Jackson Park-esque experience, but with mowed grass. :-) Any suggestions? I'd drive to LaSalle or Tecumseh for a nice quiet book-reading afternoon. |

WINDSOR KNITTERS & CROCHETERS - would any of you be interested in meeting up at the Tecumseh Mall this Sunday for knitting in public?
it's World Wide Knit in Public weekend and there are so many knitters in Windsor that it would be silly of us not to participate.
Originally I was going to do this at a small, quiet park that I know of, but it is completely overgrown with grass and it's not PUBLIC enough which completely defeats the purpose.
The mall would be a great meeting place because 1) It's indoors in case the weather sucks 2) there is real seating 3) there are bathrooms & food places and 4) there are always people walking around.
I'm thinking of meeting at 2:30-3pm and staying until the mall closes at 5. You can stay the entire time or you can stop by for a bit.
Let me know if you're interested! |

I'm not doing color or anything, just a cut... so I'm looking for somewhere that has really nice staff, fair prices, and talent. I'm not looking to spend more than $30 for a cut/wash/style combo or whatever the usual is. :P I bus, so as long as its along a route - perfect-o.
Thank you! :) |

| Massage therapists? |
[Jun. 8th, 2009|05:57 pm] |
Hey folks,
I was thinking of getting my dad a gift certificate for a couple massages for Father's day. I've never been anywhere in Windsor except for Esthetica but I'm thinking that's not quite my dad's type of place.
Any recommendations or suggestions on a therapist or spa that a big old working class kind of guy might feel comfortable going to? Although, I don't think he would care as much as I do.
Thanks! |
