Howdy, campers! This will be our last info post to the old con comm. If you STILL haven't friended the new one, please go here and add us to your flist and memberize yourself.

Registration is up and ready to go here in the new comm profile. This year's tickets are going for:

October 23, 2009 - November 30, 2009: $85 check, money order or Paypal
December 1, 2009 - May 31, 2010: $100 check, money order or Paypal
June 1, 2010 - September 23, 2010: $125 check, money order or Paypal

Our Hotel for 2010 is the Double Tree Chicago (Oakbrook). They aren't quite ready for us to start making our reservations yet, but they will be by the end of next week. Stay tuned for details on that. In the meantime, here's some info about them:

The rate for a king or a double will be $99 a night. The rate will extend 3 days before and after the convention. This rate includes up to 4 breakfast buffet vouchers per room/day based on occupancy. The hotels amenities include, restaurants and room service, 24 hour gym, FREE WIRELESS in public areas AND guest rooms, a 5 mile radius shuttle service, indoor pools, and lots of other awesome stuff. There's also a giant mall right across the street (even closer than the one in Denver) that will have tons for you to do too.

Airport Shuttle service. The Double Tree does not provide airport shuttle service for it's guests. We are currently working with a local shuttle company that will provide everyone with a reasonably priced ride to and from both Midway and O'Hare airports ($9-13 each way). As soon as we have more information about it, we'll let y'all know.

Ok! Get to the clickity click! As always, if you have any questions, please email us at winconhq at gmail dot com. We can't wait to see all your beautiful faces next year.

Another year, another awesome gathering. There is nothing quite like a fangirl pajama party. Can’t wait for next year!

As always, the Vid Show was one of the great highlights for me. Thanks again to all of you amazingly talented people for contributing your work.

We were not able to burn DVDs of the show this year, but we do have permission to post links to all of the full-length vids, so click away and give the artists some love. Vids Vids Vids Vids... )

In addition to the individual links, I've got the 2.7gb ISO file available for DL if you’d like to see the show in toto.

First, I compressed it down as a single 833mb file, but I also split it into two uncompressed parts in case your technology doesn’t play well with .RAR files. All are loaded on ADrive, and are easily reactivated if you find the files have expired – just comment and I’ll re-share. If you'd like to burn your own DVD of the complete vid show, this is the only way to get it. See below the cut for directions. OMG, will this DL ever finish... )

Enjoy!

Hey y'all.

We have a winner for next year: Chicago.

I know half of your (the people who wanted Orlando or New Orleans or NYC or Spain) are disappointed, but don't get down yet!

The hotel is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing and they want to put a ring on it, ok? We have standards now. Gone are the days of one too many Cosmos and crashing wherever we didn't puke, you know? Denver taught us valuable life lessons, such as that we can expect better (just like Mama said). So we did. And Chicago delivered.

We hope to have hotel reg set up by next Thursday. As soon as we have that sorted, you are in. Come early, come often, and remember our names (we have long memories).

So we're making phone calls and narrowing down some things. We've got the first group of three possible locations making bids for us and we thought we'd poll you and see your reactions to our choices. The results are locked, but every vote counts towards our consideration.

This poll is closed.
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: None, participants: 96

Where would you like to see us next year?

Chicago (central to so many of you)
52 (54.2%)

Orlando (fangirls at Disneyland!)
17 (17.7%)

So I want to post all the bad fic entries here in the comm, but thought I'd ask permission first. There were 8 entries total and one of them was hand-written and never made it back to me for saving, so I won't be able to do that one, but the others I'd love to publish. Let me know if that's ok.

ETA: Most of you have already done my work for me! If you posted your badfic elsewhere, link in comments here plzkthx.

Howdy, ladies!

So the hotel in Denver was awesome, no? Kassie and I are drafting letters of thanks to them this week and we thought you guys might want to as well. Here's some info for you:

Renaissance Denver Hotel
3801 Quebec Street
Denver, Colorado 80207

Colin Grice - Hotel Manager
colin.grice@renaissancehotels.com

John Wagner - General Manager
john.wagner@renaissancehotels.com

Regan Robertson was our account manager and Raya Roll the event manager.

If you want to send something to their corporate bosses, you can send a letter to:

Pyramid Hotel Group LLC
One Post Office Square
Suite 3100
Boston, MA 02109
617-946-2033

If you do draft something, remember to use all the letter writing rules and etiquette you probably learned in 4th grade. Also, be sure to specifically mention anyone who may have helped you or anyone else by name, it will benefit them greatly. If you want to identify what group you were with, we're on their books as "Winchester Writer's Convention."

If you'd like to give everyone permission to post your photos re: the email I sent earlier, just post your 'ok' or 'not ok' here so we can avoid the mass emailing. Thanks!

If we had a website! If any of you are savvy with that or have a friend who is, please comment or contact us. A small commission will be involved for creating and maintaining the site through next year's con.

about how amazing this weekend was, but I don't know if there are words to do it justice. Every year you guys never fail to remind me exactly why we do this. My thanks to each of you.

Please use this post to link to your own post-con posts so we can all share. Also, don't forget to friend/memberize yourself over at the new con comm. Once we have the date and location set for next year, we will no longer be using this comm.

350 days to go!

The last day, LE SIGH.

The "Future of Wincon" panel just ended and a few announcements were made.

First: Wincon will be multi-fandom next year. If you have some ideas you'd like to share about that send them to our new email, winconhq at gmail dot com. Pitch us an idea (or a location since we haven't picked one yet) and we'll see where it goes.

Second: Today and today only this year's attendees are able to buy a ticket for $75 here in Denver for next year's con. So why not you too? Follow the link to our new con comm (don't forget to friend it too) and paypal your hearts out.

Early reg is closed now. But sit tight! We'll open it back up as SOON as we have the location and dates sorted.

09 October 2009 @ 07:49 am
So I was going to download last night's ep myself for the viewing later today. But as much as the hotel loves all of us, it doesn't like my mac so much. So, could someone please download the ep for our viewing this afternoon? The dvd player we're using will play anything, so an .avi file on a data disc is just fine. THANKS!

Also, this is my tel #: 213-840-1699. If you guys need anything, just call.

Campers!

As most of you know, the con provides you breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This year, you will have two tickets to the buffet in the hotel restaurant. The buffet opens early and goes until about 10am.

The tickets for your buffet will be given to you by the hotel staff at check in. Since not all of you will be there at check in, the hotel will have a list attendees at the front desk. To get your vouchers, just show them your con badge and they will give them to you.

ETA: The hotel finally realized I'm smarter than they are and is now giving me the tickets to put in your con packets instead of making you come to them. Go me. The following still applies though:

These tickets must be presented in the restaurant to receive your meal and they do not excuse anyone from tipping the wait staff that takes care of you during breakfast.

This is the second of two posts for Friday night activities at Wincon.

[info]cathybites is hosting a karaoke outing Friday night as well. Cabs will leave the hotel around 9 for a short trek to the Ogden Street Bar where much merry will be made. Karaoke is a time honored tradition at Wincon and while we aren't doing it on site this year, it's always an epic adventure. If you are interested in going, respond here or ping Cathy directly. She has a post in her LJ about it as well.

Ok, this is one of two posts regarding Friday night outings for Wincon.

[info]gigglingkat and friends have arranged for a ghost tour of Denver on a giant hillbilly bus on Friday night leaving at 10pm. You can bring drinks and a friend or two as she has room for both. It's $14 per person and lasts about 90 minutes. If you are interested in going, please respond here or ping Ms. Kat directly.

As you are packing you're Prom outfits, sexy lingerie and "Property of Jensen Ackles" t-shirts for Wincon, just a reminder that if you haven't died laughing at Bad Fic Idol, immediately following it on Saturday from 4pm-4:50pm we will be holding the...

Second Annual Tin Hat Pageant

Who can forget the brilliant sight last year of 100 fangirls beddecked in tinhat creations worthy of Project Runway! Now supplies will be available all day Saturday for your tinhat construction, but feel free to bring along any accessories that you feel will help you edge out the competition. Make it work fangirls!

This year there will be also be free for all trivia quiz to see whether you qualify for a restraining order. Misha's minions welcome. Actual prizes involved!

In addition i will be awarding the "Danneel Harris is more Awesome than You" Award (a set of bronze nail clippers), to the person who best pretends to be my girlfriend for the weekend.

ETA: FOIL WILL BE SUPPLIED. Just bring along any accessories to make sure your creation is the fiercest!

So Kassie put out a call for icons last week, and I had actually made some a little while ago and never got around to posting them. Oops? But since then our awesome logo was announced so I went ahead and made some using that one.
