Why I loved Tara so much!

I don't want to state all the reasons directly, as they are very personal to me but suffice as to say I identified with Tara and what she went through at home. Moreover I felt that Tara was a sign that maybe the upset and pain i had went through would come right in the end that I wouldn't be unwanted and alone. It is for this reason that I was so upset at her death. the way it was done and the connotations of it are bad enough, but it was the loss that I felt, the loss of hope, that really scarred me.

But why did I like Tara? I think because she had a quiet strength about her. The only character I have seen in the same terms as Tara is the character of Andy in The Shawshank Redemption. Both had a quiet nobility, a strength of character and of purpose that transcended the walls of their world and gave hope not only to the characters in their story, but to us the viewers as well.

It also helps that Tara was played by Amber, a woman with an undeniably compassionate and generous nature. I have never heard anyone say a bad word about Amber when they have met her. I ahve been lucky enough to meet this amazing woman twice. The second time was on my 35th birthday, and she mad ethat day really special.

So that's why i think Tara is great and the acrtress who played her has me as a fan for life.

Buffy Season 6 - Overview!

It is difficult for me, someone who truly describes himself as a fan of
Buffy, to write this review knowing that it will be for the most part very
negative. However, I am not such a fan as I am willing to be blindly loyal
to the writers and forgive them there considerable foibles. So here goes:

Firstly, let's deal with the positives, as there are some to report. The
much anticipated musical episode was an audacious and realised concept that
quite frankly had no right to be as good as it was. The dark tone of the
season was a change from the norm and the idea of relaity and the perils of
being an adult in the big world being the main challenge was a good idea
and an intelligent change of pace after the apocalyptic big finish to
season 5. Also, it must be said that for the principals, this is probably
the best season for all of them in terms of performances. Indeed, many of
the problems that are indicated in the individual episodes are often hidden
under the solid work of the main cast.

Sadly, however, those were all the positives. Previous seasons had either
good arcs with some less than stellar episodes within them (seasons 2 & 5)
or weak story arcs with strong episodes (season 4). Only season 3 got the
combination consistently right, with a strong story arc with strong
episodes. So here we have the pay off from season 3, where the one had
both this had neither.

The problem with the episodes in general is that, the musical and "Tabula
Rasa" aside, nothing really new is being said. Where as previous seasons
had revelled in taking old cliches and horror story conventions and given
them a cheeky twist, season 6 seemed intent, and sadly content, with
sticking slavishly to cliche as if the writers just couldn't be bothered.
There is a tiredness to the story structure and dialogue, as if the writers
have real creative fatigue. This may be true, and might even be
forgivable, but when you invest the time to sit and watch a show that has
been such a high quality one for so long, you deserve more than simply
average. sadly, many of the episodes could only dream of being average, so
lacking in any dramatic or emotional resonance.

Then there is the arc, which is very fractured. What is the point of the
arc in season 6? Buffy is even more insufferable in this season than any
other (in fact this season put me right off Buffy as a character). Spike
is merely used as an excuse to get him naked and to bamboozle the viewers
with near-nudity and suggested sex in attempt to hide the vaccuous nature
of the plots. Willow's arc makes absolutely no sense, either in terms of
her character or in dramatic terms, and the final 4 episodes are almost
laughably bad in terms of plotting.

Xander is pretty much wasted in this season, and his big moment is so badly
handled that it's hard to get up any cheer for him. Similarly, Anya is
wasted and in a cruel twist of fate for both of those characters, the
wedding not happening was the worst thing to happen for those characters
dramatically. Dawn gets a year older and yet is written as though she was
a year younger. Giles is barely in it and at least has some impact and as
for Tara, she finally gets used somewhere properly this season and just
when it looks like they have figured out how to use the character within
the group framework they kill her off.

I have many problems with the killing off of Tara. In terms of drama it
was a backwards step, as it was so badly done it defies logic. As the
character had more growth and dramatic potential it was a backwards step
for the show to let a dramatically important character go when there was
more gold to be spun from her. As for the argument over the "Dead/Evil
Lesbian" cliche, I will say this: I do not believe that it was ever the
writers intention to be homophobic, nor was there intention to make some
subliminal or subconscious criticism of same-sex relationships. This is
important because intent is one of the indicators of the cliche. However,
all the other indicators in terms of what was shown on screen are there,
and the writers claiming that they are not there is simply folly. It may
not have been there intention, but in Tara's death/Willow's vengeance (and
one could even say Xander's "yellow crayon" speech which re-enforces the
Freudian cliche) the writers have left the world not just with an example
of how the "Dead/Evil Lesbian" cliche looks, but have in my view delivered
the definitive version of how it looks. For a show that took pride in
usurping cliche, this is perhaps the saddest indictment of all. I have
other problems with it but I have dealt with these within the episodes in
which they occur.

With episodes that struggle to even be average by tv's standards, let alone
the higher standards set by the previous seasons of Buffy, and with a story
arc that is so weak that it doesn't even hold up to even the most basic
scrutiny, which for a show of Buffy's standards is unforgiveable.

I am a fan of Buffy but I will admit that I do not own, nor ever shall own,
season 6. I have the stand alone DVD of the musical and that's it. It
will come as no suprise to the reader that I place this season as absolute
bottom of the pile. A woeful effort and really the season that killed the
show off.

Buffy Season 5 - Overview!

Let's deal with the negatives first. The story arc is strong but doesn't
really have much pace which takes the drama out of many of the episodes.
Also, Glory is a great baddie but she isn't particularly well used in the
latter episodes, content to sit and allow others to be pro-active.

For all of that though, this season really is very good, and it's really
the end of Buffy as a show as the last 2 seasons fall off sharply. The
principals by this point are comfortable in their roles and even the
episodes where very little happens are still enjoyable purely for the
performances of the cast.

Special mention must be given here to Michelle Trachtenberg. Many disliked
Dawn because she was a brat, completely missing the point. Dawn is meant
to be the pain in the neck little sister and Michelle plays her superbly.
She is also required to do some pretty strong emotional scenes and these
too she handles with real maturity.

The episodes, whilst sometimes lacking pace, still exude confidence and
"Fool For Love" and "The Body" continue the trend for brave pieces of
television, especially "The Body".

All in all, despite it's flaws, this is still a strong season and whilst it
does have overt soap opera moments in it, it at least handles them with
real emotion. I place it 2nd in my list of seasons, bettered only by the
epic that is season 3. However, it doesn't beat season 4 by much.

Hi! My name is Tennya and I wanted to say hello and I'm really looking forward to reading some great fics and posting some of my own and getting feedback.

What I wanted to post here was the first few pages of a fiction that I have been working on for roughly almost five years, on and off, writing and rewriting. It is called Aldora's Destiny and it follows Willow and Tara's daughter Aldora who is a champion and all through her trails and struggles, her powers, her family, the Powers That Be and the Guardians, hoping to one day fulfill her destiny, though she isn't even quiet sure what that is.

There is much girl on girl loving but the main thing I wanted to warn you about was that Willow/Tara and are a constant theme throughout this epic story but after the first forty pages or so they fade away and the story focus on Aldora since this story is all about her.

So now that I'm done with all of my warnings, I leave you with this cut.

Disclaimer: Though the following story is a work of fiction thought up by and belonging to I, Tennya Kellerstin - Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created and belongs to Joss Whedon. I am only borrowing the characters and the bass story line.
Length: Ten pages in MW at Font: Georgia sz: 12
Feedback: Yes please!
Rating: Let's say always R if not for sex or graphic fight scenes, then for language

Enjoy!

Prologue: Willow’s Journey
Sunnydale: 2003

In the alleyway the stench of stressed metal, screeched tires and burnet demon flesh still hung strongly in the air.
Willow Rosenberg, twenty one, stepped forward, clinging onto the side of a cracked building because she surely did not have the strength to hold herself up. The young witch’s eyes were the color of night, completely void of the light because she had called upon the dark magic. And the dark magic had answered her call, gripping her soul and encasing itself into her pours. The evil still flowed so strongly through her veins that it came to life at her fingertips, crackling with malevolence static.
“Buffy?” The young witch called out weakly.
Ten yards away, despite her below average stature the slayer stood tall. Her eyes bore into the pitiful, weak young woman that until a moment ago had been a very scary, very real, very unstoppable dark force thinking it was capable of anything.
Up until an hour ago it had been Willow Danielle Rosenberg, only child of Sheila and Ira Rosenberg. Born Jewish, recently in the last few years converted Wiccan. She had been Buffy’s best friend for almost seven years. The one person, when the rest of the world turned its back on the slayer, Buffy could always count on.

Now through the slayer’s eyes smoldered with anger and betrayal. So much betrayal.

The black in Willow’s eyes slowly began to seep away turning into a heavy dark gray as she started to come down from a fog. As she let go of the black magic she felt like she was waking up from a dream and things had happened, horrible things that she couldn’t remember.
The black magic crawled away without a fight, knowing it would be called upon again. The young witch’s confusion and sadness was in great amounts and the black magic would be patient.

As the green in her eyes returned Willow could suddenly see clear. She could suddenly remember what had happened. She also remembered that she had been the cause of it.
Her gaze shifted away from the slayer and saw Dawn for the first time, cradling an arm that was unnaturally lip and twisted farther than it should be.
“Dawn!” Willow sobbed out, absolutely hating to see the teenager injured, hating herself even more because it had been her fault.
She had gotten so wrapped up…she couldn’t see…Willow had to tell them that! She had to explain-!

The slayer took a quick and deadly protective step that put her between her sister and her best friend.

“Dawnie!” Willow cried and ran around the slayer to get herself in front of the young woman. “I didn’t see-! I’m so sorry! I didn’t-!” The witch tried pathetically to explain.
Dawn raised her gaze, so similar to her sister’s, and looked Willow in the eye for only one moment before reaching back with her good hand and slapping her.
“Dawnie.” Willow whispered in utter regret.
Dawn didn’t answer, instead she, with Spike’s help, moved past the young witch and headed out of the alley.
“Dawnie! Wait! I’m so sorry!” Tears were already streaming down Willow’s face but now they were threatening to turn into sobs that would most surly leave her incapable of speaking.
She tried to run after them but her legs were weak and her steps futile and after only getting a short distance she tripped and fell to her knees and then down onto all fours. Pressing her face against the dirty concert she begged for forgiveness.

The slayer heard her cries and paused.
Spike paused as well, looking at Buffy with serenity, asking without words.
Buffy nodded ever so briefly and Spike gave his best smile, and began to lead Dawn off again.
A moment later they were gone and the vampire slayer’s quick, angry strides put her in front of the fallen witch.
“Buffy I’m so sorry!” Willow tried again.
But the slayer wasn’t hearing any of it. “Do you remember that night I died?” Buffy asked, her tone sounded like frozen steel.
Willow lifted her tear filled gaze and met her friend’s stare, hoping, praying for mercy, for pity.
“I told you all then that if any of you tried to come near Dawn I’d kill you. I meant it.” For a moment the hard look in the slayer’s eyes softened and she had to look away. But then anger flared to life again and this time she had no trouble looking at the young woman who lay in a mess, who was troubled and beyond pain. At the woman she used to call her best friend.
“You did more than just harm her, you almost killed her.” Buffy’s words were steady and calm. “If you ever come near her again – I will kill you.” There was no more need for the slayer to stay, she knew the witch had heard her and understood the threat as serious.

A moment later the slayer was gone, leaving the witch completely alone.

Willow’s sobs soon over took her body, racking her violently and then she began to wail and howl in pain. But her cries, no matter how fierce they were wouldn’t bring anyone back and they wouldn’t undo what she had done and wouldn’t change the slayer’s mind.

For a long time the young witch wept until her pain was so great the darkness knew it needed to return. It began to whisper sweet promises into the witch’s ear and the witch quieted and began to listen intensely.

One year later

Willow surveyed the Bronze, her green eyes, darker now then when they were a year ago, swept over the crowd. The all age dance club was busy tonight and it was so packed Willow wondered if they should even be here at all.
She glanced over at Amy who was standing at her right shoulder. Like Willow the once rat witch was also carefully picking apart the throng of dancing teenagers with her eyes.
The two witches caught eyes for a moment and Amy smiled, but only for a moment before returning to her intense observation.

They didn’t come here that often. This was the place where the slayer and her friends hung out – the last thing Willow needed was to run into them and have words…or worse.
But despite the over consumption of the club the witches were here for a reason. It being so hot outside meant people were going out to eat, walking through the park, seeing a late movie on Maine street. And that meant they could be easy prey and not just vampires but demons, chaos worshippers and people like Willow and Amy with magical insight who just might need a virgin sacrifice for one of their spells.

A smile so light it was barely there at all caught the corner of Willow’s lips as she chastised her thoughts. Human sacrifices were only used in dark spells that called for massive power or calling upon dark lords or demon kings. Willow didn’t have the time or patience for something that great. Besides the moment she took a human life the slayer would be after her and Willow knew Buffy better than anyone – Buffy wouldn’t stop until she had completed what needed to be done. Willow’s permanent banishment into another dimension or if need come to it - her death.

Yes, the slayer was out on the streets doing her job, keeping the town a little bit safer tonight.

“She’s not here.” Willow announced in a cold voice that was lower then what she used to speak in.
Amy, through she heard her, kept looking anyways.
“I said she’s not here.” Willow’s voice went deeper. “She won’t be here tonight.” Willow turned slightly and started to head down the stairs that would take them to the lower level where the bar and the dance floor was. “Too much to do tonight.” Now when the witch spoke again it was quiet and to herself. When she smiled it was sad because for a moment Willow was remembering the slayer’s strength. Her strength was not just great in physical tributes but in the certainty of her courage and her complete, unselfish love. That’s Buffy alright. Willow allowed herself to mourn for her old life for a moment and then she let it go. Only way to live this life now – Willow never allowed herself to become consumed with what she had done…and what she had lost. Tara.

“Are you sure she won’t be here tonight?” Amy leaned close to say into Willow’s ear so she could be heard above the crowd’s ruckus.
“I told you-” Willow turned so she could look Amy in the eye and the less powerful witch would understand how serious Willow was and how much she was not in the mood of repeating herself or having her word questioned. “She has too much to do tonight to come in here and play.”
“Sunnydale’s no fun anymore.” Amy gripped. “Not allowed to anything-”
Amy would have gone on complaining but Willow turned around so fast Amy nearly bumped into her. “We do anything in this town that even remotely upsets the balance and Buffy comes after us – you know that behaving ourselves is the only reason we’re allowed to stay here.” Willow had a finger jerked up so close that it almost touched Amy’s noise. It was a threat to behave; Amy had seen what kind of damage Willow could do when black magic was focused through those fingertips.
Amy quieted at once and backed down. Willow turned back and they kept down the stairs until they reached the floor and started heading for the bar. “Don’t know why we don’t just relocate.” Amy grumbled, crossing her arms.
“You can go.” Willow told her in a voice that was too sweet. “But I’m not going anywhere. I like it here.” Willow turned again to face her. “So does Rack and you know you’re nothing without us. You couldn’t handle the withdrawal and you know without me to tell you what to do you’d fuck up before the week was over and Buffy’d be after you.”
Amy huffed and looked away. She knew two things at that moment, Willow was right and she didn’t feel like getting another lecture.

Amy had been suggested a move anywhere other than this town for the last year and each time Willow simply told her that she liked the town but what Willow wasn’t tell her that she would never tell her, that Amy knew anyways but would never speak, Willow liked Sunnydale not because she grew up here but because Tara was still here.
Willow and Amy spent most of the day light hours indoors, preparing spells or sleeping so Willow didn’t have to worry about bumping into Tara when she was on her way to a class at UC Sunnydale or on her way to the Magic Box to meet up with the Scooby Gang. But every now and then she saw her. Tara never saw her of course, Willow made sure of that, but the moments Willow did manage a glimpse was reason enough to stay here and put up with Buffy and Xander and even Dawn for ten more years.
Tara was beautiful, physically, any blind moron could see that but it was her soul that shined the brightest and when Willow saw the sun on her face, the way her honey blonde hair cupped her perfectly smoothed cheeks and how blue her eyes were – Willow could forget her troubles and just remember for a moment that at one point…Tara loved her.

Willow and Amy had barely gotten themselves settled at the bar when two hunky college students approached them.
“Hi.” Amy said seductively, recognizing them from the week before when she had danced with them at the club.
“I’m not in the mood.” Willow responded darkly when Amy beckoned for Willow to join them.
“Your friend needs to loosen up, have a good time like you know how to have.” The one guy commented at Amy. “Or is she on the rag again?” He asked sarcastically, beaming with pride at himself for coming up with the insult.
Willow barely gave them a glance, keeping her temper down by playing with the straw in her drink. Take them away, I don’t feel like dealing with their boyish testosterone tonight. Willow told Amy telepathically; knowing if she tried to speak out loud her anger would come through a little bit too clear through her clenched teeth.
“We could find some use for them.” Amy said, leaning close to Willow’s ear to say it in a whisper.
Willow turned her head to stare into Amy’s eyes. They were sparkling with mischief and excitement. Then Willow turned her gaze onto the two young men who were waiting anxiously for Willow to make her decision about dancing.
There was a certain spell Amy and Willow had been toying with the last few days, only problem was it required the sweat and blood of men. Willow inhaled sharply, almost physically smelling their over confidence. Yes…they would be perfect. In Willow’s mind she was already skipping ahead past the part where they lured them back to their place and tied up them, made them sweat, beg for their lives after they cut them and then the look of shock and disbelieve when they let them ago and the boys found out they were going to live.

It was be hilarious.

Willow could tell by the smile on Amy’s face and the look on her eyes that she was thinking the same thing only she was probably stuck on the part of the game on how they were going to get the boys to go back with the girls to their place.

Good old, reliable, predicable Amy.

“Okay…one dance.” Willow agreed her mood much lighter now. “But you two have to make it worth our wild.”
Exchanging smiles, Amy and Willow allowed themselves to be lead off onto the dance floor.

Twenty minutes later Willow was strolling away from The Bronze with long, confident strides, her hair flowing behind her, her eyes darker than before. She could feel the black magic swirling around her, she could even almost feel it in her pours as she couldn’t help but grow more excited with each passing second. The spell itself would be fun, scaring the shit out of the two frat boys would be a blast but once the spell was complete Willow would have enough power to latch onto other magic users and suck them of their energy. Maybe then she could recast the memory loss spell only this time there would be mistakes, she’d do it correctly and Tara would be her’s again. She could even have Xander and Buffy back too. They’d all be friends again, just like they should have always been.

Willow glanced behind her to see the two young men playfully chasing after Amy as she led them on.
“Com’on baby!” One of the guys whined as he reached for Amy and she quickly twisted so he got nothing but air. “Why do we have to wait until we get to your place?”
“Patience is a virtue.” Amy taunted. “Besides I really want you two to see our apartment. We worked on fixing it up really nice. Right?” Amy turned her question in Willow’s direction.
“You’ll love it.” Willow answered darkly. She didn’t feel like keeping up the ditzy girl act anymore. The opportunity was too close at hand to lose concentration now.
“Well how much farther?” The second guy was quick to ask.
“We’re here.” Amy announced with a wicked smile forming across her lips.
“This old dump?” Guy number one asked, titling his head back to look up at the abandoned looking building.
“Wait till you see inside.” Willow responded, her voice growing darker with each syllable. She could feel the evil crawling up her skin and taking house in her body, she couldn’t wait any long to keep it at bay. She didn’t need to look to see the black creeping into the color of her eyes and taking over the red of her hair.
“Dude what happened to your voice?” Guy number two slurred tipsily.
“Don’t worry about it.” Amy quickly said, then gave off a giggle and slide open the sliding door to the building and darted inside with the guys quickly on her heels.
Willow stood outside for a moment, watching as Amy continued to let them chase her. Then the dark witch moved inside, slid the door closed, bolted it and with a few words of incantation, magically locked the door shut.

No one would be leaving until she allowed them to.

Willow took a quick scan of the building that her and Amy had made up into a luscious, comfortable apartment. Everything was perfectly still in place where Willow and Amy had left everything.
“Amy!” Willow called over her shoulder as she made her way up a flight of stairs that would take up to the loft where everything was up set up for the spell.
“Wanna see our bedroom?” Amy asked, pulling one of the guys with her as she started heading the way Willow was leading.

Distracting them long enough to get both of the young men chained up against the wall was more than easy.
“Shhh!” Willow said towards guy number one who was screaming bloody murder after he realized it wasn’t a game anymore.
“Oh let them scream.” Amy sympathized, keeping the evil smile on her lips as she began to stir together the soon to be needed ingredients. “Sound proofed the whole place. Willow knows her sound spells.” She explained to the prisoners in an overly sweet voice that was dripping with seduction and mischief.
“Well alright.” Willow allowed. “But just till it gets annoying.”
“You better start being quiet.” Amy told the men, setting down a bowl and picking another one up as she began to sprinkle about its contents. “She seems to enjoy sewing men’s lips together more then she should.” She gave Willow a mock scolding look.
When the guys heard this they quickly turned their gaze at Willow whose eyes and hair were now completely black and began to scream even louder.
Ignoring the screams of terror, seeming even to almost feed off of them, Willow turned and asked Amy casually, “Did you get the harborne root blessed yesterday?” Fully expecting a positive answer Willow’s features visibly darkened when Amy replied with a semi nervous ‘no’.
Willow forced a smile, cocked her head tightly to the right, her shoulder twitching slightly as she consciously began to hold her temper from exploding. “You didn’t get the root blessed?” Willow demanded, grabbing Amy’s right arm above her wrist and yanking her several yards away so she wouldn’t be scolded her in front of their captives.
“No.” Amy answered weakly then took an inward breathe and opened her mouth to speak. Willow jerked up a finger, silencing her at once, Willow did not want to hear her excuses at that moment.
The black haired witch turned away, furious and began to pace in a tight line, keeping her head down as she thought out loud. “You know how long it takes to bless things?” She demanded.
Her lips pressed together tightly in fear, Amy quickly nodded.
“I’ll have to do it myself and that means keeping the boys here for another twelve hours. We’ll have to feed them, let them go at some point to pee.” Willow sighed angrily; she didn’t wake up this morning thinking how nice it would be hold a couple of guys against their will for a day.

Just then, before Willow could gave Amy another tongue lashing there was a very distinctive sound of a grunt and then a brief struggle.
Both young women whipped their heads around to see both of the men had somehow managed to free themselves from the chains and were now standing terrified but looking determined.
Amy looked shocked and worried while Willow took the more, annoyed, but calm approach. “Amy,” Willow started slowly, “Did you remember to lock the chains?”
“Oops.” Amy offered weakly.
Rolling her eyes, Willow watched as the two men took off tearing down the stairs from the loft and racing towards the sliding door, the only exit. “Well go get them back.”
Amy’s silence was clearly nervous and she didn’t need to ask the question for Willow to answer it for her. “You could make them sleepy.” She suggested kindly, but her tone was anything but kind. “Or just use those great mind controlling powers you’ve got and ask them nicely to chain themselves back up against the wall.” Amy didn’t have mind controlling powers like Willow did, last time she tried it she accidently overloaded some guy’s brain and sent him into a coma.
“Well now you’re just rubbing it in.” Amy grumbled unhappily.
“Go. Get. Them.” Willow’s voice had gone scary deep.
Amy nodded obediently and took a running leap over the open edge of the loft, using one of the magical skills she knew she had down packed, which was forming a cushion of air to allow her to land safely.
Willow had just started to head down the stairs slowly to observe Amy’s capturing techniques when there was a male yell, the sound of something hitting flesh and then again, and then Amy’s pain filled cry.

Suddenly it wasn’t fun and games anymore.

Willow took the last few steps in a leap, her eyes frantically searching the large base level of the abandoned warehouse that they had converted into a home.
Finally, after several long, agonizing seconds Willow found Amy. Her body was crumpled on the floor, lying face down; a pool of blood was quickly forming around her head.
The breath was sucked back into Willow’s lungs so forcefully it physically pained her. But that didn’t matter. What did matter was that Buffy, Xander, Giles, Oz and Tara had all left her. Everyone she had ever loved or cared about had left her.

But not Amy.

Her and Amy had grown up together, had known each other almost as long as she had Xander had. Amy would come over to study or just to cry in ten year old confusion about her mother. They were friends. Lifelong friends and Amy, even thought Willow had never said it and hardly ever showed it, was her best friend, the one last good thing in her life, the one last thing to keep Willow from just giving up and obliterating her own worthless life.

Tears that were fused with dark magic streamed down Willow’s face as she raised her gazed and saw one of the men, holding a rusty pipe in his hands, looking down in shock and panic at Amy’s unmoving body.
“You!” Willow thundered, shaking the building’s core as she raised a hand at him.
“No!” He screamed, backing away quickly.
But he only got a few stumbling steps before Willow’s pain was let loose and magic of purple and black electricity fired from her fingertips, hitting the young man in the center of his chest and annihilating him from the inside and within a moment he combusted in a fiery, magical death.
The survivor stared in horror at where his friend had once been and then looked up at Willow. His astonishment and fear gave him guts and he ran at Willow.
Magic still pounding her core Willow flicked her hand and sent him flying, picking up massive speed and slamming him into a concrete wall. There was an indent of blood in the wall where his skull had shattered and when he fell to the ground he was already dead.

Willow seemed to calm at once and the dark magic loosed its grip enough for her eyes to go from black to dark gray as she fell to her friend’s side.
Willow touched the back of Amy’s head, her beautiful red hair, similar to her own, was matted dark with blood and when Willow gently turned her over Amy’s nose was obviously smashed. She was still breathing but it was faint and ragged.
“Amy!” Willow cried and for a moment she wasn’t just crying out Amy’s name, she was calling for Buffy’s help, for Dawnie to forgive her and for Tara to just come back and please, oh Goddess please give her another chance.
In one moment of that utter grief Willow’s heart repented and the black magic let go completely, fading from her hair and being over taken as the green returned to her eyes.
White magic of sorrow flowed out of Willow and after a moment she noticed it and instead of calling on evil she focused with her heart and sent that light of life into Amy and her nose formed back into place and skull fused together again as the damage to her brain retreated.
“Willow?” Amy gasped. “What happened?”
Willow just cried and hugged her friend tightly.
“Willow?” Amy demanded a little more furiously, now needing to know what had happened. She looked around and her eyes found the dead body and a few yards away a bloody, black stain where a human being had once existed. “What did you do?” Amy gasped out in a whisper. Quickly jumping to her feet Amy ran to the body and checked for a pulse. Upon finding none she ran to the dark spot on the concrete and said to Willow, who was still sitting shell shocked on the floor. “You killed him too didn’t you.”
“I had to-” Willow tried to explain. “They were going to get away…they might have killed you! They would have killed me!” Willow suddenly realized, rising to her feet as she began to grow strong in her conclusions. She took a tight hold of the dark magic and it fueled it, soothed her, made her stronger, made her see that what she had done was okay, it was kill or be killed and Willow had only acted to save her own life.
“Buffy will find out!” Amy whispered, her voice shaking.
Blood drained from the twenty two year old face, making Willow look aged and defeated. “What are we going to do?” Willow asked, showing fear for the first time in over a year.
“We’re going to get the hell out of here!” Amy answered quickly. “Catch the closest wind current out of this town and then from there we can go to New York or Chicago maybe. That’ll buy us a few weeks at least to figure out what to do.”
“Leave?” Willow asked, shaking her head in confusion. “But Sunnydale…” Never in a million years did Willow ever think she’d leave this place. Never thought she’d have to.
“Would you rather stay and deal with Buffy?” Amy snapped.
Amy was right.
Willow nodded. She couldn’t think clearly, she just had to listen to Amy, Amy was clearly thinking ahead, had a clear mind at the moment when Willow so didn’t. “Okay, I’ll be right behind you.” Willow barely got out.
Amy nodded in confirmation and spun, twisting into the air and disappearing in a white hot whirlwind of magic.
Willow was about to follow but something wasn’t right. It was a horrible dreading feeling that twisted Willow’s stomach into knots and made her hair stand up on the back of her neck and on her arms. She had to get out of there! She twisted as well and began to spin, she could feel the magic and the air scooping her up but at the last minute something of magical origination grabbed onto her. Willow struggled but the magic was too great and she was already too spent from her magical explosion moments earlier.
And then Willow was gone from the warehouse, from the place that had been her home for a year, from the town that she knew her heart would always live in and then from the entire human plane of existence completely. And she knew she had no control over it.

When Willow came into existence again she found herself in a very black place. Everything was black, not void of light, void of color, just black. The next thing she noticed was that she was chained at the wrists and ankles. She struggled against the chains that were bolted to the floor but it was useless.
“Willow Rosenberg!” A male voice thundered.
Instantly Willow stopped struggling and jerked her head upward to see three tall pillars before her that hadn’t been there a moment early. On top of each pillar stood men who bore their angry gaze down on Willow.
The one who had addressed her was on a pillar in the middle, which was slightly taller than the other two.
“Let me go!” Willow grunted, giving her shackles a good tug, which didn’t do anything.
Ignoring her cry the man continued, “Species: human. Origin: Earth. Status: Champion, magical user.”
Willow paused her struggle and stared in confusion, craning her neck back to make eye contact. “Look, there’s been a mistake. You’ve got the wrong person, because I’m not a champion, Buffy is she’s the slayer. Is that who you were looking for cause I could tell you where to find her.” Willow offered sweetly.
“You are a champion. The Powers rejoiced when you were conceived and now you spite them!”
“I’m telling you – you’ve got the wrong person!” This time Willow yanked against both chains bolted around her wrists. “Where the hell am I? Who the hell are you?”
“As is the term where you’re from, I am your judge, jury and executioner.”
“Executioner? What did I do?” Willow demanded, suddenly growing very afraid but knowing that was the last emotion she wanted to show.
“You have used your champion abilities to slaughter the lives of two innocents.” He replied.
“Wait that wasn’t my fault!” Willow quickly argued back. “I had to do something! Did you see what they did to Amy? If it wasn’t for me she’d probably be dead by now! That second one, he was coming after me! He would have killed me if I hadn’t done something!”
But Willow’s cries and protests fell on deaf ears. “Your sentence-” There was a pause of silence. “Thirty years of service.”
Willow’s mouth opened slightly and she blinked twice before she found her voice. “Thirty years? Are you crazy! I was defending myself!”
“That is my decision. Your sentence starts now.”

There mothers would of course shift them off to bed, because toys didn’t make themselves.

Inside the house papa and Mama Clause would be sipping their coco and Santa would be going over last years naughty/nice list. He always compared this years and last, some kids changed and others were forever naughty. “Put it away Papa,” he smiled and kissed Mrs. Clauses rosy cheek and did so with a snap.

“Where are the children?” he asked in a hush.

“Beth and Donny are asleep and your brother is rounding up comet and cupid….”

“Again?”

“Yes Again, honestly those two are over two hundred years old. Think they act there age.”

“And what of our Tara?”

“With the children of course.”

“She is seventeen and head strong, the eldest and yet she still prefers children.”

“Who is to love up here in the North Papa, she will find someone when she is ready. We can’t rush these things.”

“I just worry mama.”

“I know,” she kissed his cheek and took out her book, and Mr. Clause did the same.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The Orphan Elves were now snug in there bed, and Tara made sure sugarplums dances in there heads. She tucked them in one by one, and kissed there cheeks and hummed. This was all she knew nothing else, caring and helping those who could not help themselves. After the kids were snug and snoozing Tara walked back to the main house, her home, her family’s home.

Walking up the stairs and down the hall she Knocking lightly on the door labeled Mr. & Mrs. Clause. there was a slight clearing of the throat before a hearty; “Come in my dear, Tara” was heard. She smiled and pushed opened the door to see her father and mother sitting up in bed reading.

“Just came to say goodnight.”

“Don’t lie to Santa clause.” she smiled and sat down next to her father, “tell papa what’s wrong.”

“I made a decision.”

“Have you now?”

“yes sir, when I finish school this year, I would like to go to college in the US.” Mama Clause smiled and placed her bookmark in place. “I hate to leave you both up here, but I feel so…well disconnected from the world. I never met anyone besides in town and I just wish I could find someone, taller someone besides the family.”

“That’s a lot to say from one tiny girl,” Papa Clause smiled, “But you finish school and than we’ll talk.” Tara smiled and kissed both her parents before running off to bed, just another week of school and she was out of there.

Tara graduated with full honors and decided to head out west, she didn’t tell her father and mother she would not be attending school right away. But she had a feeling her father already knew that, after all he was Santa clause.

“So what,” Tara turned to face her little sister, “You were just going to leave without saying goodbye?” Beth Clause was no older than six and stubborn just like there father. She had short curly blond hair and sparkling eyes of blue.

“No of course I was going to say goodbye to you, what kind of sister would I be if I didn’t?”

“A mean one.” Donny Clause added, a strapping young boy, Ten with sand brown hair and brown chocolate eyes. He was sitting now on a bench with his legs crossed and his arms folded.

“I wasn’t going to leave without saying goodbye, give me a little credit ok?”

“Are you leaving today?”

“No, tomorrow night. So we have plenty of time to do the brother sister cookies before I go.”

“Your leaving before Christmas, you can’t leave before Christmas!” Beth Yelled, “Who’s going to help Papa with the sled?”

“Donny and you can help.”

“Well who’s going to help Mama with dad’s cookie bags?”

“You.”

“b-but you always helped.”

“Beth I need to leave here, I need to live. I can’t just spend the rest of my life up here.” Tara sighed, “one day you’ll both understand. And I am going to miss everyone, but I will come and visit ok?” Tara took Beth into her arms and hugged her close, Beth had begun to cry. “No tears now, everything will be just fine.

“K,” Tara wiped her sisters tears and sent her off to bed, “No wash up and I’ll be there soon to tuck you in.” When the last traces of Beth were gone Tara turned her attention to Donny, he was still scowling. “Your face will freeze that way,”

“You should be on the naughty list.”

“for what?”

“for being a big fat fibber.”

“Fibber, what I do now? No wait let me guess.” Tara pursed her lips and gave a big ‘Hmm’, before she continued. “I drank all the nog and blamed it on cliff or placed candy canes in the DVD player and blamed it on you?”

“No jokes, you lied to Papa. Your not going to College at all.”

“not right away no, I have to get a job first.”

“But you told Papa you were!”

“Hey keep your voice down, you’ll wake papa.”

“Don’t go.” he sounded like a child in mourning, as if he just lost his best friend.

“I have to.”

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Tara Clause got herself a job, apartment, and by the age of Twenty she was a full time student at Boston university. But the one thing she didn’t have was love, a pure love like her parents. Tara had left the north pole to find her one true love and so far she’s come out flat busted. Until….

*Crash!*

“Saint’s alive!” Tara’s books scattered as a blur of red collided into her.

“my god, I’m so sorry I just--” Tara looked up too see a pair of green eyes looking at her, “are you ok?” the eyes asked.

“Y-yes, are you?”

“Am now,” Tara blushed and ducked her head as she shifted through her books. “here let me help, The names Willow.”

“Tara, pleasure bumping into you.”

“Ditto.”

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

November the 30th, one month before Christmas…

There was a loud crash which alerted the old dog in the next room, its ears perked up, his upper lip curled and a growl escaped his lips as the door knob turned slowly. lowering his body he got ready for the attack and just as the door opened…

“Rusty Shush, its only me.” Willow walked into her small cottage in the woods, it wasn’t much but it was all she had. “I just knocked over the spittoon outside, and remind me to get rid of it.” willow shivered. “How gross is that?”

When her grandmother died a year ago she was left the house and everything in it, see Willow was her only favorite grandchild. The rest were in jail or worse dead, all her aunts and uncles were completely cut off and it was Willow's now. None of her family would even speak to her, they were all jealous.

Willow was the only one in the family making something of herself, going to college, bettering her education. While almost everyone else expected just to live off grandma’s death, they had one hell of a wake-up call. “What do you mean nothing?”

“I’m sorry Mrs. Rosenberg, your mother left everything to your daughter. It seems Ronda thought it best to give everything to Willow here.” The conversation started off well enough, but Willow knew it would all go down hill for her. “Your mother stated and I quote, ‘The only person whom deserves this is my granddaughter Willow D. Rosenberg, and I be sound body and mind give her the sum of 3 million dollars and my home. All benefits and check there for and after go to her as well, along with my dog rusty.’ its all here in black and white.”

Yes indeed Willow Rosenberg was Rich, but it all didn’t matter. She missed her grandmother and she missed her family and Willow tried to explain that if they did more than just hope to get into the will, they would have gotten something. It was Willow that went over everyday after school to visit and take care of her sick grandma, and no one else.

“Come on Rusty, lets hit the hay, tomorrow we Christmas shop.” Willow smiled and walked up the stairs, “o Rusty I met someone today,” the dogs ears perked up. “Don’t act all surprised, geeze.” Willow laughed and slipped on her PJ’s, “she was so cute, and yes I said she.”

“Woof,”

“Of course I like her,”

“Woof.”

“Yes in that way.”

“Wooof.”

“Smart pants, hehe night Rusty.”

“Woof.”
