Summer conventions [Apr. 24th, 2008|09:26 am]

martes
[Current Mood | okay]

I'm going to be attending CaliFur in May and AnthroCon in June.  If any of the artists want to get extra decks, let me know ahead of time and I will bring them with me to save you postage.

I am also looking for a dealer at Eurofurence to agent the decks there; email me if you have a Eurofurence dealer's table and are interested in selling the decks.  (roz.gibson (at) gmail.com)

Everyone have a great summer!

Some final odds and ends [Jan. 31st, 2008|09:11 pm]

martes
[Current Mood | accomplished]

The article about the deck I wrote a few months ago was finally printed earlier this month.  Here are scans of it.  If any of the artists are interested in getting a hardcopy, my contact there is Mike Friese at: Mike (atttt) Friese (dotttt) com
The full-size scans are large enough so you can read the text.

In other nooz, Further Confusion 2008 was a big success, and the attending artists sold all or most of thier decks.  At this point I am offering the decks wholesale to the artists, so if you're interested in purchasing more copies beyond the contributors copies, please email me.  I also have a couple of the uncut sheets left.  One will be going for auction at the Anthrocon art show in June, but if any of the artists wants to lay dibs on the remaining sheet, email me.

My convention schedual this year will be CaliFur in May, Anthrocon in June, and San Diego ComiCon in July.  If any of the artist wants additional copies but would like to avoid postage costs, let me know ahead of time so I can bring your decks with me.

At this point all the artists, except one who has not sent me her adress, should have their contributor's copies.  If I've overlooked anyone, let me know!

This group will probably go inactive but I will not close or delete it., Feel free to post relevant wildcat links or photos (stuff like the photos of the black bobcat, or the discovery of new species) as you come across them.

Further Confusion ahoy! [Jan. 13th, 2008|10:46 am]

martes
[Current Mood | busy]

The time for FC is rapidly approaching, so I'm double-checking which artists are going to be picking up their cards at the con:

Terrie Smith
Michele Light
Dark Natasha
Caribou
Diana Harlan-Stein
Heather Bruton
TaniDaReal
Blotch
Kacey
Orange 04
Balaa

If you you were planning to pick up at the con and your name isn't there, let me know so I can make sure to bring your cards.  I will also be bringing most of the uncut sheets with me for the artists who indicated they want one.  There should be a few available to the public after the artists get their copies: if you if wanted an uncut sheet ask me at the con.

There's two artists who I still need to mail their cards to.  One hasn't sent me her adress yet, but I have an email out to her, so whenever she gets back to me i'll send them out.

[info]ailurophile, I have the cards & uncut sheet ready to go, but I do need postage for that.  If you can't swing the postage for the sheet let me know and I'll just mail you the cards, but I do need your adress for that!   I want to get that taken care of reletively soon so I don't have any outstanding contributor's copies to worry about after the con.

For the public, the decks should be available both at my table and at the various artist's tables.  If you wanted to get the cards signed by the artists, this con and AnthroCon will be the best times to do it, since virtually all the artists attend one or both of those cons.

Credit Where Credit is Due [Dec. 24th, 2007|12:39 pm]

martes
[Current Mood | pleased]

Now that all the preorders are sent out, along with most of the artist copies (still need adresses for a couple people), on this Christmas Eve I wanted to publicly thank some of the people who helped make this deck come together.

My husband [info]titanic, who did ALL the computer work, including setting up the websites, the FTP site, helping me with the FTP to the printer, doing the code for all the banners, and setting up the order page. I could not have done this without his computer know-how.

The generous patron of the arts who fronted the printing money and made this project a reality.

[info]screwbald (Blotch) who not only did two beautiful cards, but did the box artwork on relativly short notice.

[info]amarafox who helped with the box design and layout, and put it in a format the printer could use.

[info]synnabar who did the printing and cleaned up the layout for the box inserts.

[info]furtech who helped with the box text, printer negotiations, and suggested getting the uncut sheets.

And of course to all the participating artists, who produced some gorgeous work, and all who showed faith in my ability to pull this off by preordering.

Thanks to you all, and Merry Christmas, Blessed Solstice & Happy Holidays.

Everything mailed [Dec. 15th, 2007|12:08 am]

martes
[Current Mood | tired]

(sorry for the double-post to those who have my regular LJ on their friends list.  I was so tired i accidently posted this on my LJ instead of here!)

All the artist's copies* and preorders have been mailed out at this point (whew!).  If there's any problem (such as defective decks or missing credit inserts) let me know.  Of all the decks I've looked at the only problem was one had one extra card (but no missing cards.)  But I've mailed a lot of stuff, so it's quite possible I overlooked something or someone.

I will be out of town starting the 19th, but will be able to get orders in the mail up until then.

* except the artists who said they're picking up at FC, and one person who needs to get me postage.

So, I got 12 decks of cat cards (cool!) but no inserts to go with them. Are they being sent out separately?
I saw that they weren't done at the same time the cards were, I just wanted to know when to watch for them. :)

The Cards Hath Arrived!! [Dec. 6th, 2007|06:49 pm]

martes
[Current Mood | excited]

Yes, even now, I have a bunch of boxes cluttering the livingroom.

Everything looks like it came out fine, although, on the advice of someone more knowledgable about these things, I'm going to look over 20 random boxes  for any errors.  I hope I don't find any, because I really don't want to ship these things back to India...

The box came out beautifully!  Thanks to

[info]screwbaldand[info]amarafoxfor their work on it.  All the card art seems to have come out fine, --It's really neat finally haveing the hardcopy in hand after so many months of digital work.

Because the cards actually arrived earlier than I'd expected, the inserts that contain all the artist and cat info are not done yet.  Those are being printed seperately (and very generously) by one of the artists.  I'm expecting to have the first half of those Monday or Tuesday of next week, which will enable me to begin mailing artist copies and preorders by Weds. or Thursday.  You artists are going to have to cut and fold your inserts yourselves (sorry, but I won't have time to do the inserts for both the artist copies AND preorders!)

I'm pretty sure I have current adresses for all the artists and noted who is going to pick up their copies at FC.  Yes, I also have the uncut sheets as well.  I will be emailing those who wanted one of those w/postage info this weekend.

For the general public, if you wanted to order one, now is the time!  I am going out of town for Christmas and probably won't be able to do any mailings after the 19th or 20th.  Send your loved one kitty cards for the holidays!

More Updates [Nov. 20th, 2007|09:52 am]

martes
[Current Mood | busy]

The mispelled names on the main webpage should be fixed.  Sorry about that-- I was using an older artist list that didn't have the updated credits.

About half the preorders have been from overseas, which I'm pleasently surprized by.  I guess kitties transcend national bounderies.  The credits/cat ID insert that will be included with each deck will have the scientific Latin names as well as the standard English names.  It seems like every book I have has different scientific names for the cats-- the ones I ended up going by are the ones listed in Wikipedia, which I assume are the most current.

A few questions about orders that have come up:

Cut-off date for preorders:  It depends on wether they sell out or not.  If it looks like they're about to sell out I will post an announcement to that effect here and on the website.  Otherwise, the cut-off date is right before I do the mailing.  I will post when the cards arrive from the printer, and then it would probably be one to two days after that.

Paying by snailmail: Just email me for the info.

Paying by PayPal w/out useing the buy it now button:  You can just use PayPal regularly (use my gmail addy for the user email).  Make sure to put Wild Cat cards in the subject line so I will know to add you to the purchase list.

Sending decks from one order to multiple adresses: No problem, just email me to let me know who's supposed to get what, otherwise I ship to the adress listed on the PayPal form.

Presales finally open! [Nov. 17th, 2007|04:48 pm]

martes
[Current Mood | accomplished]

Sorry for the delays on this. I wanted to get everything to the printers, approved, paid for, and with a reasonably firm delivery date from them before I offered presales.

The amount for presale is 300 copies, which is a number I think I can handle packing and mailing in a realistic amount of time, assuming the cards arrive from the printer before Christmas and before I go out of state for the holiday. (probably Dec. 22 or 23rd.) Artist copies will go out at the same time.

Here are a bunch of link buttons to choose from. Just copy the code under the image you want (we don't mind if you link the pictures)

<a href="http://rozgibson.huzzah.com/Deck/"><img src="http://huzzah.com/images/wildcatcards1.gif"></a>

<a href="http://rozgibson.huzzah.com/Deck/"><img src="http://huzzah.com/images/wildcatcards2.gif"></a>

<a href="http://rozgibson.huzzah.com/Deck/"><img src="http://huzzah.com/images/wildcatcards3.gif"></a>

The buttons above should lead to a main page, which in turn has a link to the purchase page. The main Cat Card webpage is pretty bare-bones and will probably remain that way. I'm not a web designer, and I don't think a fancy website with bells and whistles is really necessary in any case.

Everything should work on the site, but if there's any problem please let me know!!

Updates [Nov. 14th, 2007|12:34 am]

martes
[Current Mood | tired]

Sorry this took a little longer than expected.  Trying to coordinate the transfer of a fairly large sum of money between several people and 2 countries was a bit involved, and then there were some issues on the printer's end with their computers that delayed things further.  Everything has been taken care of now, the printer has been paid, the plates are approved, and I'll be opening up for presales as soon as I get the PayPal info set up, probably late tomorrow.  Delivery will be cutting it VERY close for Christmas-- they said 4 weeks for production plus an additional week of shipping time.  I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope there's no delays on their end, but at least everything is taken care of on this side.

State of the Deck [Oct. 31st, 2007|09:22 pm]

martes
[Current Mood | hopeful]
[Current Music |TV commercials]

All the files have been sent to the printer, and I'm waiting to hear back from them.  Once I get a firm date for delivery, I will open for presales.

In the meantime, I  have a placeholder banner on the front page of my website: www.rozgibson.com

Right now the banner just leads back to this group-- when I'm ready to start taking orders it will go to a page with ordering info.  At that time I'll also make up a simplified banner if anyone wants one for their site.

I should have more news within a week or so; I'll post as soon as I get the printer's schedual

Drat it, now I want crackerjacks.

Iriomote Cat.

Well, I decided to go back and rework the entire thing (again). I want to poke at it more, but the perfect is the enemy of the finished. Will put this up and drop you the file name posthaste, Roz. :)

I think I'm finished! [Oct. 21st, 2007|03:30 pm]

desertcoyote

The "black" jaguarundi. I'm sorry it was late- I didn't see the deadline date. This was entirely digital except for the beginning sketch it was based on. It's probably located in northern Mexico or perhaps even AZ or TX... that's an acacia tree above it. Is its color "black" enough? My jaguarundi kept wanting to turn more red in color- I can still work on it if need be. Jaguarundis do seem to have a reddish tone to them, though, even in the dark phase (or are my photo references off?)...

BTW- lots of great art in this deck! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Chinese Desert Cat [Oct. 16th, 2007|03:36 am]

Turns out the Chinese Desert Cat doesn't actually live in the desert. Anyone else know that? Cause I sure didn't! =^^=
I'm sorry the ground looks like cement but the colors got warped when I switched the file over from Painter to Photoshop. The final version I send in will have the proper colors and some more foliage. I'm gonna do a bit more work on it before sending it in (not happy with the paws yet). Any critiques would be greatly appreciated.
