ADMIN: Rules Update

Since the rules still stated that the manga hadn't been licensed in English, it was clear an update was in order. Specifically, rules #3 and #10 have been updated. They now read:

3. While the manga has now been licensed in English, please be aware that not every fan has read every volume. Please use cut tags when discussing the last two volumes released in English, and any chapters (dice) that have not yet been translated and released in English.

10. If posting scanlations, CD files, scanned official artwork, or anything of that nature, f-lock the posts to the community. If posting to request any of the above, f-lock the post. You may not request scanlations of any work that has been officially released in English. This community is on moderated status. Requests and posts violating this rule will be rejected.

Read all of the rules before submitting a post. While I will continue to include the reason a post was rejected when rejecting it, you'll save us both time and effort if you don't submit posts that violate the rules in the first place.

4th Drama CD extras

A couple of people had said they hadn't seen a translation for the extras on the 4th drama CD, so here's my version. Many thanks to the fine folks over at japanese who helped me out with some of the wording/interpretation.

PROLOGUE

T: ~~Ow, ow!!!
K: ......What’s wrong?
T: It's nothing, I’m ok.
K: You're not ok, you need to cool it down. Is it your left hand? Look, it’s turning red.
T: Yeah, ok.
K: When you get burned, you should touch your earlobe.
T: Earlobe?
K: It’s the coldest spot on your body, right?
T: Hmm, like this?
K: Gya-
K: Your own ear, not mine.
K: You know, you should use the pot grip.
T: .....I didn’t think it was hot.
K: Why?
T: Because it wasn’t hot.
K: ?
T: When I touched it with my right hand it wasn’t hot, so I held it in my left hand without thinking.
K: .....I see.
T: Even though I touched it with my bare hand it wasn’t hot. It’s like......like I thought, it’s not normal, this hand.
K: Yeah. That’s good, right? It’s strong.
T: Good....
K: Pain, heat, cold, things like that aren’t a problem. It's easier if you don't have to feel unnecessary things. Ah, here’s a bandage.
T: ....You don’t say anything. About pain, or heat, things like that.
K: Even if I said something, nothing could be done about it, right?
T: If you don’t say anything, then I won’t know.
K: To who?
T: To me.
K: Oh....I see.
T: Besides, it seems bad, two people acting like that seems like...um, what was it again-
K: ?
T: Ah, that’s right, “fukanshou!” *
K: Yeah, please don’t go around saying that outside.

* fukanshou can mean either "noninterference" or "sexual frigidity" depending on the kanji compound.

EPILOGUE

T: Oh, it’s cold~~~
K: That’s because it’s snow. Tokito, if you're going out on the veranda, then-
K: He’s not even listening.
T: Snow~~. Hey, Kubo-chan, snow!!
K: Yeah.
T: .........Why are you being so boring.
K: Well, it’s been falling since yesterday.
T: *snowball*
K: ......Hey.
T: *snowball* *snowball*
K: ....Alright, alright. I’m sorry. Stop that, it’s cold.
T: Don’t say “it’s cold” now.
K: Why?
T: You said it before, didn’t you? “Not feeling anything is easier” .....My right hand, even when I touch the snow, it doesn't feel cold at all - but....like I thought, feeling the cold is better than feeling nothing.
K: ...Yeah.
T: Feel it, for me.
K: Well, shall we go?
T: Where?
K: The parking lot. I bet it’s piling up quite a bit.
T: Ohh, Let’s make a snowman!! A really big one!
K: Yes, yes.
T: One that won't melt!

I`ve promised you a bunch of translations - well, here you are) Special thanks to ryius, who translated the lyrics from japanese into russian, and to maitai1again, who helped a lot with editing. The texts are not quite literal, but literary)

I AM EXTREMELY SORRY FOR THE REALLY LONG DELAY. A-Also, the comm is dead, o-orz. ... That said, uh. I don't have any new transcriptions, OTL.

I'm posting! Just to say that, uh, I am, in fact, very much alive (IRL, at least, orz), but haven't been able to get around to transcribing lately due to some RL circumstances, one of which consists of a lack of stable-enough-to-post Internet connectivity. Currently bumming off public wireless at Panera lulz.

IN SUMMARY, I-I will try my best to kick up the pace again and get all of the songs done. I am deeply grateful for your patience and continued support. ~~Even your rotten tomatoes, orz.~~

Just a little PSA regarding Minekura-sensei

I happened to stop by Minekura-sensei's blog today, and it seems the poor thing has been in the hospital recently. There wasn't much detail, but it seems the pain she was having might have been the result of complications/scar tissue from the operation she had last year. Although it seems it isn't life-threatening, she forsees regular visits to the hospital for the near future.

Due to this situation, she announced she will be taking a break from this month's Chara, so there will be no new WA chapter. She did say, however, that the next issue (which should be released at the end of August) is supposed to have a color center as well as a report on the 6th drama CD, and she'll do her best to devote herself to that.

No word (as far as I could tell) on how/if this will affect her other publications.

Just thought people would like to know and join me in wishing her a speedy recovery~

Reading Minekura's Blog

I was looking at Minekura's Blog, and translating it, and she was writing about WA, so I thought that since I was already expending the effort, I would post it here with the translation so that other people could read. It might be kind of spoiler-y...I think, but well, I guess that's the only warning I can say?

Chara最新号が発売となりました。新章突入です。時間軸を戻した理由は、この章を最後まで読んで頂ければ分かると思います。「6巻が酷かったので、7巻こそは久保時をいちゃいちゃさせて下さい」や「本筋よりもラブラブシーンを!!」というお声を沢山頂いていたので…………が、頑張ろうとはしてみたのですが……無理っぽいです何か（泣）スミマセン…。全体のプロットは仕上がっているのに、それをどうBL風に直せばいいのか悩み続けること3日、たいして直らないという最悪の事態（滝汗）。BL雑誌の片隅にこの漫画をそっと住まわせて下さっているChara編集部は心が広いと思います…ううっ。しかも約4年ぶりの表紙なんですけど…（更に汗）こちらは頑張って明るい色合いで可愛い花なぞ持たせてみてしかしコレ何の漫画?何度か洋服に返り血を描きたくなる衝動にかられました。危ない。

A new Chara has been released. The new chapter has a new character. I think that if you read until the end of the chapter, you will be able to understand the reason for the time slip. People have been saying “The sixth volume was so sad, can’t you at least make Kubota and Tokio flirt/make out in the 7^th book?” And “More than the plot, we want some love scenes” a lot to me recently….but . . . .the more that I try . . ..I think that it is impossible. (cry) I’m sorry. Despite the fact that the main plot and story are being finished, the issue of how do I fit more BL(Boy’s Love) into the series has been worrying me for the past three days, and I think that the worst state is that this situation is beyond repair. (*sweats*) This (WA) is being serialized in a BL magazine, and it is housed with the other BL manga do to the generosity of Chara’s editorial department….ugh. And yet, for the past four years, I have been trying hard with the book covers . . . .(*more sweat*) and I am putting bright colors and posing them with beautiful flowers but what kind of a manga is this? I am overwhelmed with this urge to draw them in Western clothes covered in blood spurts. It’s dangerous.

What she wrote is interesting, and I hope that it doesn't mean that she can't get any sort of love scenes into the story...but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I like her art and the story no matter what, but a few kisses here and there wouldn't be so bad, right?

Hi Everyone:

I don't know if many of you know about the Fujoshi Paradise Yaoi Tour that is run by Pop Japan Travel... but the event is tour of yaoi-related destinations that runs in mid-April of 2008 and costs roughly $2200, including air fare from LAX and hotel.

Part of the draw of the tour is that the tour group gets a private meeting with Makoto Tateno, the manga-ka for the "Yellow" series.

The reason I am bringing this up in the saiyuki and wild_adapter communities is because I have been conversing with the tour coordinator about the 2009 tour. I asked him whether or not there is a possibility of having the 2009 tour include a meeting with Minekura-sensei... and he is currently looking into the possibility.

What I wanted to ask the saiyuki and wild_adapter communities was -- if this were to actually happen -- and he could arrange a private meeting with Minekura-sensei... how many people in this community would seriously consider going?

I know $2200 is quite steep... but the price does include air fare and hotel. (There is also a cheaper land-only package for those of you who want to arrange your own flights...)

Serious inquiries only please... because I would like to be able to go back to him and give him a rough estimate of how many people are serious about being part of the tour.

A large group would facilitate his ability to negotiate with Minekura-sensei's business managers and publishers.

I'm not really a n00b to Wild Adapter, but I am pretty new to the community, so hi folks! And, I have a question that's possibly very newbie-like. While I don't think it needs to be locked, I will put it behind a cut for possible spoilers(?).

I was just wondering if the series ended at 41? If not when can the next chapter be expected to appear? If so, well, I guess there's nothing after "if so" is there?

I just recently joined the Wild Adapter community here at lj, although I have been a huge fan of the manga series for a good few years now- As well as the other works Minekura-sensei has created. While looking through I noticed the numerous requests here on the journal, and thought I was most likely about to do the same. Of course, I plan to visit and post often whenever a new event occurs, but I do have one request I was hoping could be full-filled. While browsing Minekura's diary, I'm sure many of us noticed the two stuffed bears from W.A that are on sale(?). But unfortunatley, I could not translate the page or find a way to purchase them, as much lurking as I did ^_^; I planned to buy them for a cousin for Christmas, but it might be a little too late, maybe. Perhaps someone here knows where I could buy the bears in a bilingual site? I tried yesasia.com and couldn't find any luck ^_^; But thanks anyways for reading, and see you all soon!

Go The Limit DVD

Well, I know there are already a 2 entries about "Go the Limit", but in Minekura's last entry (2007/12/07) she put a link to... reserve (I suppose) a copy of WILD ADAPTER LIVE DVD Go the Limit (that will be on sale on March 21).
I suppose that DVD is just about Morikawa and Ishikawa singing some of the songs in the minialbum, but just wondering if someone has more information on it. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of info in her blog, but I'm japanese illiterate. Also, I'd strongly recommend you to go to her blog, she uploaded a "Happy New Year" pic featuring Tokitoh and Kubota ♥ (even though December is just starting).

I was wondering where those who bought the 2007 WA Calendar got it from? i've searched for it at amazon.jp, Akadot (they have the Sugarcoat artbook, yay!, but sadly, not the calendar), Sasuga Books, eBay (although, it's hard to find stuff like this on there that isn't used). So then, anyone have suggestions where else i can look for it that will sell it new (as in still shrink-wrapped and no one else has drooled over yet that's for me to do! X3)? Thanks so much!! X3

Hi... I joined this group a little while ago... I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post things... Ah, how to begin? I started reading WA from Emerald Eyes some time ago. I really like it and love the dynamic between Kubota & Tokito. Ah, well, to get into my question, I'll say that at one point I read a translation of Burial arc of Saiyuki Reload and I was very excited about it because I ship Gojyo/Hakkai and it was very cute in that way but when I got the Tokyopop volume in question, it was just nothing like the translation I'd found so charming. It was like all the subtext and subtle romantic nuances were all gone... Since I also ship Kubota/Tokito and I already started reading the Emerald Eyes scanlations and Anthey's translations, I don't want to start reading some dumb thing from Tokyopop that nullifies all the cuteness I've been waiting for by making them different... That might sound weird but...anyway. So, does anyone have the Tokyopop versions and how do you like them? I'm so sorry for the length of this comment - I'll stop now.

question about english and german licensed Wild Adapter

dears,

could you please voice your opinion [those who have experience with that] which licensed translation of Wild Adapter was better: German or English.
German was done by Carlsen Comics (vol.1-4 are released and vol.5 is supposed to be out in August 2007)
English was done by Tokyopop (ETA: my amazon web-page tells me that only vol.1 is on sale, vol.2 is available for pre-order for June 2007 and vol.3 is available only in October 2007)
I heard many complains about Tokyopop's translations in general (but I am not sure in regard to Wild Adapter), but I have little experience with German translations.
Did anyone buy German version? What you thought of it?
For me makes no difference which language to read (both not my mother-tongues), but somehow I always preferred English. However, seeing that there are already 4 volumes in German and that I can buy all of them in local bookshop [no need to pay bloody shipment to amazon] and each volumes cost smth like 7,50 EUR - I get tempted to switch into German.

does anyone have anything to say to that?

New WA disc

Just thought I'll drop a note fyi: There's a new WA disc coming out. I can't really read Japanese, but apparently it'll have all 5 Wild Adapter drama disc, Kubotoki songs, Araiso drama disc from the OVA and Araiso soundtrack. Something about 15 tracks but I'm not too sure what. Basically everything that's out now all in one.
