"Because I'm a classy bitch" is my new catch phrase. [Saturday, July 19th 2008]

charmedgirl
[ music | April Smith's album loveletterbombs ]

Here's a story about being grateful for what you have.

Don't you love when you've gotten home from a night out with friends, and you're just chilling, laying on your bed, perhaps updating your livejournal... and then you get that feeling. That feeling. That feeling where if your body could speak English it would say, "hi! FUCK YOU!" and at that moment there is a rumbling in your colon and your asshole is about to explode.

Don't lie. You KNOW what I'm talking about. Don't pretend to be all disgusted and appalled... it's the human body. When you nourish the human body with cheese and margaritas... it's going to retaliate. We know this, and yet we continue the pattern and pay the price. So anyway. This is a story about being grateful. Why? Because you should be grateful you were home alone relaxing in bed when your body decided to tell you to go fuck yourself in the most offensive non-literal way it could. Be grateful you were not on a crowded subway train, or in the oxygen-deprived subway station waiting for the train. Or for those not in NYC aka Center of the Universe, be thankful you were not in your car 30 minutes from your destination with no open stores to be found. Or in an airport just as your plane is boarding. Or on a sailboat boat fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Or out hacking your horse cross-country an hour from the stable, which has the tiniest, most primitive bathroom anyway.

Be grateful for what you have and live in the moment.

Do you like how I wrote this in second person? Me too. :D

Y'know how your foot falls asleep if you sit cross-legged for too long, and you have to walk it off to keep it from hurting so much? Well, somehow, that happened to me, and provided me with the inspiration for a fic!

Slerra, just warning for an implied relationship and omg minors smoking! (hide the kids!)

Pacing )

You know what, this isn't a good ending. But I think if I give myself more time tomorrow (or even the rest of the week), I can work WONDERS with this. So please just review what I have now, I'd like your opinion ^^

.................. [Saturday, July 19th 2008]

[ mood | woe is me ]

Well, I was holding out on seeing Batman until tonight, when I thought I was gonna go with my good friend Ms. Marli-san, but alas, that got all fucked up. So I missed out seeing it last night because I was waiting for a stupid text message reply all yesterday, and well, her phone was dead and she didn't tell me she had allready seen it until earlier. DAMNIT.

If Mike were here there would have been no problem. It's just me and my friends who either live far as shit away, don't have the same taste in movies like I do, or fucking work weird ass hours.

I haven't done shit since Mike left Monday. It's really starting to bother me. I feel stupid because all I do is whine and bitch and cry when I get on the phone with him. I really don't want to be the girl that has to have her man around all the time to be happy, but maybe that's who I've become. Ugh. BUT then I get to thinking and I remember all the stupid shit I've sat through [even though I don't want to] to make my other friends happy or all the times I've driven over to their places to just sit around or called or invited them to do shit with me, and it seems like I've invested too much time where it's not appreciated or reciprocated. Damnit I need to be appreciated.

I don't fucking know. I wish I were more independant in a social way. But I've always been mostly content to sit in my room and read. Except that now, there aren't a ton of books to sort through and read, and artistically I'm in a totally uncreative and unproductive mood, and I'm used to being around Mike and at least having someone to talk to no matter how stupid some of it is. I guess I've taken it for granted that he has been around. Blah.

At least I did make some damn good foccicao bread today. I'm really resisting the urge to watch Transformers for like the 100th time. I got 2 good french films from netflix and have absolutely no desire to watch them. Maybe I'll go nap, because it's hard for me to sleep at night lately.

1. Pick a hot guy... take a moment to think.
2. Is this really the guy you want?
3. Pick his top 10 hottest, cutest, most irresistible pictures.
4. Tag 5 other users.

Of course I had to choose Orlando he was the first person who popped into my head plus he has millions of pictures to choose from. Too many in fact it was hard to keep myself limited to just ten because there are just soooo many out there that I love to bits and pieces. But I stayed within range I kept it to 11.

Texas, Tejas, The Lone Star State, Home of the Death Penalty.

I basically love it here. Basically of course.

It's nice to not have to worry about getting gas to make it to work tomorrow, or trying to get home as soon as possible for fear of parent's disapproval. And especially it's nice to have no responsibilties for 3 weeks.

We are heading to Corpus today, which is going to be the best part of the whole vacation.

Better go, Mamma Mia! was disappointing. :[.
But I've gotten so much cute stuff at the best mall in the world.

AAAAAAND! I've got the most brillant idea for my next youtube video, but it'll have to be postponed until I get home.

I AM SO EXCITED! Next weekend my friend Clarissa from Earlham is going to be in NYC and not only are we going to get to hang out after five years of not seeing each other... but we're going to see the band She & Him!!!! I have been seeing their name/ads/etc ALL OVER THE PLACE. And I didn't realize that the pretty girl half of the duo is ZOOEY DESCHANEL!! Emily's little sister aaahhh!!!!!!! I actually knew who Zooey was before Emily. She was in Jimmy Fallon's music video for "Idiot Boyfriend". But now I'm like retardedly obsessed with Emily aannnddd this is so awesome. lol.

YAYAYAY. Like I said to Clarissa, if Emily magically appeared at the concert, even though I know she lives in L.A., I would shit my pants.

Because I'm classy like that.

IDINA LIVE [Saturday, July 19th 2008]

lady_pamina
I've seen pictures of Idina, listened to her music, watched youtube videos countless times. I was nonetheless blown away by Idina live. Her talent is amazing; she's funny, sassy, and ever so sweet! There was not a single song I did not love. Even the one song I like least on the "I Stand" album, "Don't Let Me Down" sound great. I think it has to do with it being live with just her and the band. No odd studio effects added. She performed two songs not on "I Stand." She performed "Here" and "Rise Up" (or "Cara's Song")--the latter of which is unrecorded (except on youtube and such) and is only performed live; it was also a new version of it. It made my heart smile and me *squee* when she sang "Here." "Rise Up" is my new favorite song; it's beautiful, meaningful, and moving. She wrote it for her sister Cara and told us the story behind it. I teared up a bit here. She also told the story of Devorah from the Bible and how that's what stood out to her; it would've probably been what she sung had she been Bat Mitzvah'ed. She also did bits of "Over the Moon" (she couldn't remember it all) and part of "For Good" (she kept messing up by forgetting the lyrics; in the end we sang together with her). Her story of being a wedding singer was hilarious. It was the most wonderful, inspiring, and awesome experience of my life. I didn't get to meet her, but I waited for her at the stage door, and she signed my copy of "I Stand." This recording isn't from the Nashville concert, but that clip was not good. Because everyone should hear this song and how beautiful it is:

Rise up
Rise in the morning
Sing your song in all its glory
Li Li, Li Li, Li Li Li...

Sing high
Take it to the sky
Sing like the sound if a butterfly could sing
Li Li, Li Li, Li Li Li...

Sing to the dawn, my sister
Reveal the goddess in you
You have the strength
To blow us all away

Stand there in no one's shadow
You are the star - the afterglow
What would we all become
If you should lose your faith?

Li Li, Li Li, Li Li Li...
Li Li, Li Li, Li Li Li

Mother, mother, hold on tight
Grace us with your lullaby
The universe is listening
Your voice, we are awaiting

mother with Devorah's eyes
even warriors, they still cry
in your arms, we care tonight
we are illuminating

Rise up, rise up

Rise up,
Rise in the morning
Sing your song in all its glory
Li Li, Li Li, Li Li Li...

Sing out
Sing really loud
Sing 'til you're breaking glass
Or you're breaking down

I know you won't believe me
But I am humbled by thee
You've overtaken
No matter what they say

Me I'm like a winter tree
Brittle without her leaves
And when the mighty wind comes
I know it's you who'll shelter me

Mother, mother, hold on tight
Grace us with your lullaby
The universe is listening
Your voice, we are awaiting

Mother with Devorah's eyes
Even warriors, they still cry
In your arms, we care tonight
We are illuminating

In Which...Thank God it's Friday... [Friday, July 18th 2008]

[ mood | rushed ]

Man this is really late this week. I've been lazy today and distracted. I purchased and downloaded the ID Heretic/Hexen package over on Steam and have been kicking it old-school FPS style. I always prefered Heretic to Doom for much the same reason I prefer the first Quake to the rest of the series. I just like the more supernatural monster aspect without the over-riding military theme. It's not there at all in Heretic and in the first Quake it's there but you loose more and more of it as you progress further onto the home-world. While there are "monsters" in the Doom series its just not the same. Playing Heretic has made me all giddy and happy. Back before the internet I spent a good majority of my time playing it. Ah the good ol' days. I never had Hexen so it's been intersting and kind of confusing playing it but still fun. Eventually I'll download the first Quake too but not for a while probably.

Anyway...I survived my first full week. I won't whine about it since I know people out there are working 50-hour weeks and/or two jobs and it's just a matter of getting used to it again so yeah...no whining. Even though I know I'll sleep hard and good tonight.

No real plans for this weekend. Have to clean the living room but beyond that nothing much but reading, playing games and hopefully doing some writing when I'm not half asleep as I have been all week.

Speaking of reading I managed to finish The Name of the Wind...so awesome and yeah not a nice spot to end it but I should manage to hold out until the second part is out in paperback...even though I don't think it'll be out for a year...or so...

Also speaking of reading toady marks my 200th day of my reading project and I mark if by not doing my half hour of reading... Oy...actually I'll probably sneak it in after I'm done with this post. I've included a list of everything I've read in those 200 days underneath the cut.

people are so rude [Saturday, July 19th 2008]

[ music | mamma mia sountrack ]

Ugh.

So, I went to see Mamma Mia tonight at the cinema(for the third time....and proud of it :D) with my sister, and we had some shopping to fit in, various presents/cards to buy before the film. We arrived at the screen around 5 mins before the showing time and when we got in the cinema was pretty full.

However...I spotted up near the top there were two seats separately on one row, but arranged in such a way that if a group of four people just each moved down a seat then there would be space for me and mim on the end. Anyway, I go up, very polite and say excuse me but would you mind just moving down one etc etc, and the two middle aged women on the end were fine with it but this arsehole sat next to them goes "there are seats down at the front" and gestures at the very front row where you have to practically snap your neck in order to see anything. And I was like...but please it's really not an effort, could you just move up? I was polite, sweet and inoffensive. And yet this guy continues to give me dirty looks and doesn't move. To her credit, the girl with him looked seriously embarrassed but still didn't do anything so mim, the sensible one of the two of us, just tugged my arm and we went down to the front, leaving mr smug irritating bastard with his spare seat next to him.

ARGHHHH. maybe I'm petty, but even thinking about it now makes me angry....why are some people like this?!

anyway. that's all for now. the film was so much fun, as usual, perfect for a girly friday night. I bought the soundtrack afterwards and we bopped all the way home, so everything was good again :):):)

I have a sneaking suspicion that I may need to get a life.
Whatever.

It's my last day being 15.

And it may be really really insignificant in the long run, but I'm still pissed off that I will  not be seeing Idina the day after I turn 16.

That and I don't get to see [title of show] this summer.

Dear Forces that Be -

great day! [Friday, July 18th 2008]

[ mood | bouncy ]

today is shaping up to be a great day so far. It's payday, and I just got the letter in the mail telling me that my student loan has been approved for this upcoming semester. That means I don't have to worry as much about tution and books and will actually be able to have money instead of negative money.

Also, I will be seeing 2 movies today. The first is the Dark Knight, because plans fell through for going to the midnight show last night. I am excited and aprehensive about seeing it. And I am not ashamed at all that the only reason I am seeing it is for Heath Ledger, because I would have been seeing it anyways only for Heath. I haven't ever seen any other Batman movies. The second movie is Journey to the Centre of the Earth, which is not supposed to have the greatest storyline but who cares, because it looks like the visuals are going to be supercool. And in 3D. And I like Brendan Frasier.

Also, I bought something today which makes me happy, but I am not going to talk about it yet, because at least part of it is going to be a gift for someone, and possibly another part of it will be a gift for someone else, but I haven't decided how much of it I am going to be gifting yet.

And next week I get to see 2 firework nights and Leanne is coming out for a mini Vancouvercation, which we are doing instead of our badly planned Seattle trip. Plans include Science world, Mamma Mia, and the gelato place with 218 flavours!

And look! I have lovely new Alton Brown icons!

In short: wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
