He leaned against the port rail, watching the dawn, the sun not yet rising over the horizon. A cool breeze came up and whispered through the pirate’s hair, dancing through the sails. At the sound of those black sails flapping, he looked up and smiled at seeing the black material swell with the wind.

He returned his gaze to the sea and then, the sun rose over the water, the water sparkling with its rays. He sighed in contentment, enjoying the sunrise for a moment more before he turned around to head to the helm.

As he grasped the spokes of the wheel, he looked out across the deck then at the surrounding ocean. Jack says not all treasure is silver and gold. He’s right, thought Captain Barbossa as eight bells rang and another day aboard the Black Pearl began. True treasure … is freedom.

Hullo Barbossa fans! I'm afraid I don't have Hector picspam, but I do have a PotC RPG if anybody is interested!

The East India Trading Company seeks to control the Caribbean, while pirates all over the world struggle for their existence and freedom. Captain Jack Sparrow seeks a heart. Davy Jones wants souls. William Turner seeks redemption. Elizabeth Swann needs a wedding night. James Norrington desires honour. Lord Cutler Beckett wants the world.

What is it you seek?

Set during Dead Man's Chest (while Jack is in Tortuga searching for a new crew - and souls), what will these characters do to see their dreams come to fruition? What will they be willing to sacrifice? And what will become of the pirates of the Caribbean?

My Barbossa scene replica and statue arrived yesterday!

Anyone else own one of the scene replicas? If so, what's your number...no not that number!...although ye can tell me that too if ye like. ;D Mine is #75 out of 2000. And zee statue is #514 out of 2500.

I don't know if anyone one else has the "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" video game, but I do. And I must say that I am quite upset that you can't play as Barbossa more than it lets you. I think you get to play as him twice. And I loved it!! (Of course, my little brothers' minds went straight to the gutter with that one. Mostly because I said "I want to play with Barbossa more!"...Yeah...lol) His character is so much fun to play as! I love his moves and he beats enemies faster than Will or Elizabeth. And some of his attacks are cooler than Jack's (by far). Another thing that bummed me out is that whoever they got to do his voice, sucks. It doesn't sound like him! I mean, there are times when it almost sounds like Rush, but there are other times that you just want to scream. For example, he says in the game something about he and Jack finding their own "diversions" while in Tortuga. That line would have been done SOOOOOO much better if the guy sounded like Rush. *dies* Anyone else who has the game bummed out about that?

On a side note, this month in my "PotC: AWE" calender it has Barbossa. *drools* He's right over my bed, so it's very nice to have him right there. =] Although, it is a little odd when I'm trying to change clothes because he has this look like he watching. lol It's quite nice. lol

I found a really good Barbossa back story on FanFiction.net!

I normally don't find too much of worth on ff.net. Sometimes, searching through the self inserts and Mary Sues isn't worth the effort.

But this is not the case with this story.

Check it out. The author's pen name is NYTD, and she has created a wonderful tale of Barbossa's childhood, and the events of his past that have led him to his Captaincy.

Author's Note: This is in response to the drabble challenge over at potc_votes. The prompt was "invisible."

He sat alone on the stairs to the stern castle, a bottle of wine in his hand. He watched in silence, the newly retrieved Jack Sparrow and that damnable bird Elizabeth Swann.

Damnable. Yes, damnable. Before Sparrow had been retrieved, and with the Turner whelp barely speaking to her, Swann would spend time with him occasionally. They'd share a bottle of wine late at night or he'd teach her to navigate and duel like a real pirate.

He sighs deeply...he found he rather missed those days. Even he, in the bitter watches of the night, feels the cold touch of loneliness seeping into his soul. And he felt it now as he watched her, smiling with Sparrow...she'd barely noticed him now that Sparrow was back. Now…to her…he was invisible. A fading memory…something shoved to back of her mind to make way for another.

Aye, thought Captain Barbossa solemnly as he took a swig of the wine, invisible.

It was wet and warm...his own blood, his heart once more spilling his lifeblood across his shirt with every beat. His breathing hitched, his hand covering the wound, the crimson stain spreading.

His eyes started to darken as he collapsed to the deck, he saw a flurry of movement but knew not whence it came nor who it was. He knew nothing now as darkness claimed him in its cold embrace.

"No," she whispered as tears streamed down her face as she held his limp body against her, feeling his warmth begin to slip away. Her face pressed against the side of his neck, her tears dampening his cooling skin as she mourned the death of Captain Blackheart.

Death...forever drinking on lives of mortals...unquenchable, she thought, an unbearable ache of loss in her heart. First her father...then James...and now him...

Unquenchable indeed.

You people ~~make me~~ inspire me to do things. After the lovely manips shared by hakushaku_sama and apple4b, I just had to dust off Paint Shop and have a go. I'm not as talented as some of you, so I know there are a few bits that need worked out on this (trust me, pointers and tips are more than welcome!), but I've happy with it overall, since manips are hardly my strong point. It makes a rather nice icon though! Feel free to take and use for whatever ^_^
