Another Monday, another IPDD meeting. As always, we're taking turns sounding off about what we're all working on this week. We do this every week, but the last couple of weeks it's been fun because Rich has been out on his first vacation in 13 years, so the duty of tracking everybody's answers has been divided among the most responsible members of the department. Aaron is keeping everybody honest right now, and good for all of us. Pauline's working on a Vampire project that is a) not a book and b) not yet announced. I'm working on the early phases of a new book, tentatively being called "Damned City," but that name won't stick and I won't tell you any more about it. John (Chambers) has a million Exalted books in the air. Scroll of the Monk, for example, has just gone off to editing. Brian (aka "Mr. Glass") is back to art directing Exalted stuff, like "the Blessed Isle book." He and his broken back are back on the clock this week. He's walking around the offie with a cane that, shamefully, has neither a wolf's head nor a human skull on it. Nor is it made of glass. John (Masterson) is still following in John's (Chambers) footsteps, learning some of the development ropes and getting up to speed on some Mage outlines for future books. [ Note: That was your token attribution as "John," sir. From now on, it's all Bax, all the time, Bax.] Ethan says, "I'll probably do some drinking tonight." We got in our advance copies of World of Darkness: Skinchangers last week, by the way. Great book, if you liked Antagonists or Second Sight, in my opinion. Aileen is working on the next Lodges book and the Werewolf title, which I think is called War With the Pure, but that title may be out of date now. She's almost ahead of schedule and, thus, making all the rest of us look bad. (By the way, has anyone who bought Second Sight and/or reviewed it on our forums read the first chapter or the appendix of that book? "Nobody ever reads my stuff," Will said, pouting like a jackass.) matt says, "[Undisclosed book] was supposed to go to press on 2/1!" Chaney says, "No, those are the odds that the book'll get out at all." Bill's trying to get Legacies: The Ancient done so that he can get back to all of the meetings that seem to occupy his time these days. We're trying to schedule our next giant meeting for The Fifth Game, and since those meetings eat up whole days they really change our weekly schedules. Training Bax, we'll hope, doesn't take up too much of Bill's time this week. Chaney's working on World of Warcraft stuff galore, such as Bones of Ironforge. matt's working on the Promethean character sheet pad and a myriad of Mage covers right now. With the time crunch to get Promethean out the door for Gen Con, matt's been pretty overworked these past few weeks. Next week he gets to balance it out with his much-deserved vacation. And, suddenly, the meeting's done and we're back to work. Now go play.

Well, I haven't got Second Sight yet, and may not for a while. How I read a sourcebook, though, depends on the sourcebook and why I'm reading it.
(A) If its a core book, I'm going to try to read it all the way through if the game really interests me. Generally, though, I only skim powers - its impossible to keep them all in my head on the first read anyways, and reading them thoroughly will bore me.
(B) If its a core book that I'm playing just to play a game (such as if its what all my friends are reading), then I'll read the setting material, the write-ups for the creature type I'm playing, some of the powers that creature type has, and skim the rules. Later on I might do (A) if the game interests me more.
(C) If its a sourcebook of rules (weapon list after weapon list, or something like that) then I may just skim it. The same if its a book that my players are begging to get stuff out of and is already sanctioned (The later only matters for my Camarilla sanctioned game).
(D) Other than that, I try to read all my sourcebooks, to get as good a feel for the world as I can.
