I am sooooo tired. I got about four hours of sleep last night. Am home w/mom this weekend. Have been puttering with jewelry. But that's not the point of this post.

In my exhaustion, I have developed a plot bunny (beginning already plotted) for an alternate-Earth Steampunkish fantasy SGA novel.

No, seriously.

I'm irritated because this all started over that damn Fannish Bulwer-Lytton thing, so it's starting off to be McShep with Ronon/Rodney and Teyla/Ronon when what I really wanted was Ronon/Sheppard and Teyla/Rodney. I may yet work this out, though, so there's happy endings all 'round.

God, I'm tired. That much should be clear by now....

supralupocidit indeed. The irony is that it's likely that most of the Americans (excluding those in academia) who can read this column will be voting Republican. Classics dying in the 80s and 90s means most of the students who learnt Latin and pursued Classics during that period (and who can now vote) are from traditional families with traditional GOP alliances.

Went on an errand run and picked up Doctor Who: The Forgotten #1 at Collector's Edge Burleigh, on the glowing rec from prof_pangaea. Guh. Bloody gorgeous art of Ten and Martha! Black and white flashback sequences! A David Tennant that actually looks vaguely like him! Opening page of gracefully sprawled Doctor!

And thanks to excessive trauma courtesy of Kafka's Metamorphosis and spoilers, I can't bring myself to watch Heroes 3x04. At least, not until everyone's people-shaped again. I am watching Pushing Daisies though, which's an excessively verbose and attractive show. Oh, pies.

Since the stock market blew everyone's 401K to smithereens again today, I thought I would post a list of good things.

- My engagement announcement was finally in the paper.
- The DW-verse cliche-swap ficathon (which I cannot write for sadly as I am doing Nano but you should).
- David Tennant in tights (thx to __kali__ as I don't read ONTD).
- NEW CSI WITH SARA, Y/Y?

I have just seen two hours of burlesque dancing set to, and cover songs of, Led Zeppelin. Burlesque and stripping to Communication Breakdown (there were bees), Dazed and Confused (sex!), the Immigrant song (yes, with the screaming; also vikings)...so many. Plus an utterly incredible Mata Hari-eque number to Kashmir (& I am quickly becoming the biggest Lily Verlaine fangirl ever!*)
And the band? Best cover band of anything I have ever seen. They were amazing--the drummer was otherworldly, the bassist and guitarist were rocking like nothing else; they had three vocalists--a male & two females (tenor, alto & soprano, I think, though they were all pretty flexible).

My ears & eyes = totally blown away. I will do burlesque, if I get to do burlesque like this. Sure. I'll take my clothes off for Led Zeppelin.


(*Lily Verlaine is pretty much the most gorgeous and beautiful-moving lady up there--I want her hair and her ballet training both, please. Also I met her boyfriend tonight (fanastic double-breasted suit, colorful shirt, perfectly circular sunglasses. I mean--his style even had style.) Yowzers, but they make a hot couple. It's pretty much unfair all around.)
