Sep. 12th, 2009 @ 11:33 am Thanks!
Hey everybody, I just wanted to give some quick shout outs!

First, of course, a giant thanks to all of our guests! We had a great line-up this year!

Just as importantly, thank you to all of our wonderful Whedon fans! You guys are awesome fun and made my first year on staff a great one! Attendance to our events was HUGE and it looks like some events might need larger rooms next year! Yay!

A special thanks to my fellow costume panelists and the judges for the costume contest! You all did such a wonderful job! You also helped keep me from panicking as I tried to run my very first events :)

I also want to say awesome job to all 4 of our casts on Friday night! I've seen some of the video footage and you all looked great up there!

And finally, thank to all the other Whedon Universe staff for welcoming me to this crazy family and helping me find my footing on my first year! I loved every second of it!

Love to you all!

Howdy folks!

I finally got through uploading the photos from 4 Whedonverse events I managed to attend this year (wanted to do more, but the scheduling was just too amazing and tantalizing):

Buffy/Angel Friday panel
Buffy/Angel Saturday panel
Felicia Day Monday panel
Shindig on Saturday

You can get to the photos sets by going to this collection link:

OK, so I have to check to be sure, but I was at the Family Fued on Monday, and I think I may have left my Cup there.  The Starbucks mug I dragged around everywhere all weekend and now I can't find it.  Did anyone Find it?  I was on the Firefly teams for the second round of the game, and I think I may have left it under my chair.  It's Light Green with a Black Top and Black Handle.  It's my Favorite cup, and I would be thrilled if anyone found it.  Let me know.

Thanks Bunches!

Edit:  It's been found.  A friend of mine has it.  Thanks anyway!

Sep. 8th, 2009 @ 10:35 pm A HUGE Thank You from the Whedon Universe Track
Well another Dragon*Con has come to a close and now it's time to rest and prepare for the con crud and start uploading photos. Before I do that though I have a lot of gratitude to express.

I want to first and foremost give a huge thank you to all of the fans of the Whedon Universe track that share their ideas and input with us throughout the year to help with some of the programming.  Also to those of you that stand in the lines to see your favorite shows or guest you deserve a huge thank you for being patient with us while we get you seated and situated for each of these events.

I would also like to thank the Whedon Universe Staff - Melissa, James, Javier, Meg, Megi, and Ziggy for really going above and beyond when it counted the most.  You guys are  truly what makes it all work and I thank you for your efforts year round and at Con.  You definitely live up to the phrase "Hire people smarter than you"

I would also like to thank the Southeastern Browncoats for organizing the Shindig this year.  You guys are made of win!  Thank you Emerald Rose and The Bedlam Bards for playing the Shindig and keeping the 'Verse alive in song!  It was truly a great experience on Saturday Night

A very very very special thanks to DCTV.  You guys keep an anxious crowd very well entertained while we load the rooms (Fang Friends FTW). The Late show is made of win.  I watched every one and it should be a regular thing.  Keep those great ideas flowing!

...and thanks to all of those wonderful and very professional people who manage organize Dragon*Con who support me and my staff each year with large rooms, tech, crowd control, security, water,  and all of the very important details that make us look like seasoned professionals.

I managed to capture some of the fun we had on TwitPic this weekend and you can go here to see it.

Thanks again to everyone that was a part of the track.  Hope to see you all again next year in 2010.

Sep. 8th, 2009 @ 09:33 pm Anyone get any photos or videos of Bad Horse?
Tags:
Being as how I'm kind of bent over and staring at the floor and/or the front of the horse's feet, I'm unable to see or hear much in the suit. I'd REALLY love to see how we looked aside from the quick snaps that a couple of friends got for me. I want to see Bad Horse moving.

If anyone taped Dr. H Live, the 7:00 show and can show me, I'd be eternally grateful!!

Hugs and Howls,

Current Mood: embarrassed

As you all were probably well aware...the lighting in the ballrooms were a bit strange and pictures were hard to take (at least for me it was!). I'm wondering if anyone got some pictures of the Buffy & Angel at panel, Walk of Fame, etc. that they could share. I'm disappointed that all my photos were washed out. Help me out please. :)

You can post them here or email me at clearcast_porcelain @ hotmail.com (take the spaces out of course).

Thank you!

Sep. 1st, 2009 @ 09:20 am It begins
Well, not until Friday but I will be leaving for Atlanta tomorrow morning.  *squee*

The SEBC booth will be in the same place as last year, Imperial Ballroom in the Marriott, 1105 and 1107.

I'll be updating the twitter feed starting tomorrow to let people know about schedule changes and the like, or if I need someone to bring me a snack ;-)  @serenityr  and I'll be using #dragoncon to help narrow it down.

See you in Atlanta!

Aug. 24th, 2009 @ 08:03 pm Advance sign-ups for costume contest
Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a quick note about some of the logistics for the costume contest now that they have finally been figured out. Here's how things will go:
There will be registration forms for the contest in the track room. All it will need is your name (ex: Megi), your costume (ex: Vampire Willow) and for you to circle the category you're going to be in (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. H, Dollhouse, or Other) and if your costume counts for the budget category of "Most Resourceful" by being under $50 (please estimate, it's just a ballpark figure).
If you can sign up in advance, that is great! If you can't, just come a couple of minutes early for the contest to snag one. This way, as we call up the categories, we can announce people so everyone knows just who that is in that awesome Illyria get up or who you are portraying if it's from a series they haven't seen. More fun for everyone! It will also help our judges to remember everyone as they noodle over all the wonderful costumes.

Also, we may again need one more judge for the contest due to some scheduling issues, so I again ask if there is anyone available as a back-up judge since it looks like we may need one more ;)

Thanks guys!

Megi

Aug. 19th, 2009 @ 11:18 pm Judges still needed for the costuming contest!
Hey everybody, we still have a couple more spots open for judges in this years costume contest. With only a couple weeks to go we hope that maybe more of you have had a chance to look at your schedules and can jump in on this!

To make sure that the right awards go to the right contestants, we want to know a little about our judges. We want judges to decide based on their own in-depth knowledge of all things Whedon and what it takes to make a costume. Therefore in order to be considered for a position, we would like to know 1. Do you have a very good knowledge of Buffy, Angel, Dr. H, Serenity/Firefly, and Dollhouse? 2. What type of history do you have doing costuming? 3. Why are you not entering the costume contest yourself?

If you think you would be interested in serving the track this way, please PM me with you answers to the above questions.
Thanks!

-------EDIT-------
We now have all of our judge positions filled. However there is always the chance that something could come up and we would need an alternate to fill in. If anyone is interested in being a stand-by for this, just let me know Wink

Aug. 16th, 2009 @ 11:46 am Introducing the new Whedon Universe Track website
Current Location: Home
Hi everyone.  Aside from all the programming and planning that's going on we've been working hard lately to bring you a new and improved website for the track.  We hope this change will make it easier for us to add information and for you to access it especially during the con.  Take a look and enjoy.

Aug. 15th, 2009 @ 12:11 pm SEBC Parade info
We'll be meeting at the Hyatt bar between 8 and 8:30 Saturday morning for ribbons and the meander up to the staging point. They would like us to be to Woodruff park between 9 and 9:30 and the latest, with the parade starting at 10.

If you have recently decided to march, or think you might decide to, let me know ASAP so I can revise our pre-reg numbers by Monday. Right now we only have 15 reserved, so if we need more, I'd like to get them.

Pass the word wherever you think people might be lurking. Thanks! I'll be buying throws based on the number of people we have signed up.

Serenity

P.S. - If no one has reserved ribbons for Buffy/Angel/Dollhouse/Dr. Horrible I will be happy to go ahead and do that if people are interested.

Aug. 7th, 2009 @ 08:28 pm Whedon Universe Track Schedule
Current Location: Mi Casa
Current Music: SevenDust - Goin back to Cali
Hello Whedon Fans. It's hard to believe we have less than a month to go before the big event. By now I'm sure you've looked the schedule over on our website and had a chance to pick out your favorite panels and events. We took some time this year to put the schedule in a handy 11 x 17 foldout brochure. Why 11 x 17 ? Well it takes that much room to fit all the shiny goodness on one piece of paper. We will have hard copies of these to hand out at the track room on a first com first serve basis. Be looking for more announcements and goodies like this over the next month.

Aug. 5th, 2009 @ 07:47 am Shindig

The Shindig is a go.  Sheraton Grand Ballroom (same place as last year) Saturday night, 10 pm.  Bedlam Bards, Emerald Rose, Browncoats.  Theoretically tech ops will actually not forget to set us up and/or actually set up what we’ve requested, so the playlist for between bands might actually get to be heard this year!

The Shindig is open to all ages, but there will be cash bars, so bring your ID if you want to partake in the alcoholic beverages.  Full costumes, no costumes, as long as your important bits are covered you are welcome to come have fun until the wee hours of Sunday morning!  Hell, I might actually dance this year ;-)

Cheers,

Serenity

PS- I can't seem to post to the track forum, so If someone wants to take pity on me and copy this over there that would be awesome.

Aug. 1st, 2009 @ 02:12 pm Official Costume Contest Categories and Info!
Thank you all for waiting patiently for the final decisions to be made about the costume contest this year!
First, the official categories:
  • Best Buffy Character Costume
  • Best Angel Character Costume
  • Best Firefly/Serenity Character Costume
  • Best Dr. Horrible Character Costume
  • Best Dollhouse Character Costume
  • Most Original Costume
  • Most Resourceful Costume
  • Judges' Choice

Most of those are self-explanatory, but to make sure the other one's are crystal clear, I will explain a bit more. The "Most Resourceful" award will be given to the best costume created on a budget. For the "Most Original" award, surprise us! Do a more obscure character, be a main character but in a way we've never seen them, or even come as something outside the realm of the big shows.
If anyone has any questions regarding the categories, please ask!

Second, and equally important: We need judges!
We have several openings that need filled for this important job. 2. What type of history do you have doing costuming yourself? 3. Why are you not entering the costume contest yourself?
If you think you would be interested in serving the track this way, please PM me with you answers to the above questions.
