Emma sends a letter via e-mail and snail mail to the student roster of Xavier's School a day or so after M-Day.
Dear [Parent],
The events of July 25, 2006 have greatly shaken the mutant world, and it is in an attempt to help those who remain that I send this letter.
Please contact the school as soon as possible as to the status of your child's abilities. If they retain their abilities, the school will pay for any transportation necessary to bring them back to the school, where we are offering protection for the world's remaining mutants. Safety is paramount at this point, and with anti-mutant tensions on the rise, this is the safest place for them.
If your student no longer has their abilities, we are here to counsel them and help them through this rather abrupt transition. If they wish to contact us, they may call collect and we will help them as best we can.
The school will not resume classes in the fall. We are opening our doors to any remaining mutant, and we urge you to do what's safest for your children.
Thank You,
Emma Frost Headmistress Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters 1407 Greymalkin Lane Salem Center, NY

The Fourth of July at Xavier's School was mostly spent outdoors, and the festivities began at noon. Two tubs of beverages were set out by the pool: beers, hard cider and malt beverages are set out for the Over 21 crowd, and soda, Gatorade, water and iced teas for the younger set and the school's teetotalers. A volleyball court, badminton rackets/birdies, a horseshoe pitch, and various balls, bats and gloves are available for sports other than swimming.
Among the people who received invites to the July 4th Xavier's School bash were:
Arethusa Sine Ian Vanderbilt Charlotte Linwood Reid Danton Friday O'Reilly Jonathan Waverly The Flynns (Wing's parents - will attend) The Jacksons (Timothy's parents/sister) The Ryekas (Aiden's parents/brothers) The Greys (not expected to attend, but still) Grace Waverly (pretty much a given) Bobby Drake (also a given) Alex Summers (will attend)
The invitees were also welcome to bring a guest, with the knowledge that the party would indeed be mutant-friendly and to invite accordingly. If the remaining kids were interested in inviting some of the St. Jude's kids, they were also welcome to do so, but they'd have to arrange their own transportation.
The pool area was decked out in patriotic colors, and Scott was breaking in his grill utensil set and apron. Burgers, dogs, grilled veggies, chicken breast, tofu burgers...if it was grillable, he was happy, and it was done to a turn. Ororo helped with the prep of the cold dishes and setting up the big main table buffet-style. Guests were welcome to bring a side dish, as the entrees were more than taken care of!
Desserts were plentiful too, thanks to the kitchen staff, Jane and Emma contacting some of her favorite bakeries.
The evening culminates, of course, with a stunning fireworks display (in the absence of Jubilee, Forge was commissioned for something worthy of Gandalf the Grey), the pyrotechnics display put together by Remy.
ooc: Tag here with reaction posts if you like! A good time, hopefully, would be had by all.

Following Aiden's collapse in the game room, Dr. McCoy had run several tests, including a full-body scan, to determine the best way to help the young man. His legs and stride weren't designed to remain on the ground, and in a school where walking was still the norm, steps had to be taken.
It wasn't all due to structure, however. The muscles in his legs, both from the initial damage to them and lack of use over the years (he tended to spend more time in the air at the farm than on the ground), simply weren't ready for the stress of consistently walking. Thankfully, with a healer on staff and a doctor in residence, this could be remedied with relative ease.
After hearing about Aiden's condition, Scott asked Grace to see what she could do for him, and after asking Hank about the state of his optic nerves, went back to his office to contact Forge. He had a couple ideas in mind to deal with things, but he had to contact Aiden's parents before anything was truly done. In the meantime, Aiden was to be given muscle relaxants to help him get through the days, plus a possible diet supplement to build up his joints (he may not eat, but if there were extra things they could provide to help him move easier), and a schedule of physical therapy was to begin, hydrotherapy at first, then treadmills once his joints could take the extended physical strain.
Aiden and Hank were already down in the medlabs when Grace arrived, the former likely bouncing in anticipation and the latter going through his notes on their newest arrival.
OOC: Posting order will be Hank, Grace and Aiden. Have at!
