So yes, the website (www.wemoonsarmy.com) is back online. It needs to be dealt with, but I'm guessing that will probably start happening on a major scale in January. In the meantime, this is a call for any submissions for the website: zines, pictures, rants, articles, etc.

you can either leave your materials as a comment to this entry,
or email me at therealitybusters AT gmail dot com

I also changed the way this LJ community looks and operates.

Hey, even if you don't have anything to contribute for the website, just reply to this entry and say hi or something.

Just want to see how alive everyone is and everything!

thx -dakota

Hi, I'm Lauren. :) I'm new to the group. I just wanted to share this. I find it really inspiring.

Halloween Witch
Author Unknown

Each year they parade her about, the traditional Halloween Witch.

Misshapen green face, stringy scraps of hair, a toothless mouth beneath her deformed nose. Gnarled knobby fingers twisted into a claw protracting from a bent and twisted torso that lurches about on wobbly legs. Most think this abject image to be the creation of a prejudiced mind or merely a Halloween caricature. I disagree, I believe this to be how Witches were really seen.

Consider that most Witches were women, were abducted in the night, and smuggled into dungeons or prisons under the secrecy of darkness to be presented by light of day as a confessed Witch. Few if any saw a frightened normal looking woman being dragged into a secret room filled with instruments of torture, to be questioned until she confessed to anything suggested to her and to give names or what ever would stop the questions.

Crowds saw the aberration denounced to the world as a self-proclaimed Witch. As the Witch was paraded through town en route to be burned, hanged, drowned, stoned or disposed of in various other forms of Christian love all created to free and save her soul from her depraved body, the
jeering crowds viewed the results of hours of torture. The face bruised and broken by countless blows bore a hue of sickly green. The once warm and loving smile gone replaced by a grimace of broken teeth and torn gums that leers beneath a battered disfigured nose. The disheveled hair conceals bleeding gaps of torn scalp from whence cruel hands had torn away the lovely tresses. Broken twisted hands clutched the wagon for support, fractured fingers with nails torn away locked like groping claws to steady her broken body. All semblance of humanity gone this was truly a demon, a bride of Satan, a Witch.

I revere this Halloween Crone and hold her sacred above all. I honor her courage and listen to her warnings of the dark side of man. Each year I shed tears of respect when the mundane exhibit their symbol of Christian love.

um... hi there... just wandering through..

actually no, that's not true. i'm planning a complicated and exhaustive ponder on whether or not anarchists are better intellectually and psychologically equipped to deal with critique and activism on issues of racism (in places like, say for example, the peace movement) but it's going to take me a while (if ever).

so i am wandering, sorta. but it's with purpose.

looking forward to getting to know you all better.

howdy!

it was recommended that i join this community, so, here i am. i'm 22 and have been politically aware for almost two years. ok, closer to a year and a half. despite having a very traumatic experience with "feminist process" that was a thinly veiled campaign to eliminate certain men from our group rather than work with them to change their sexist behavior, i consider myself to be part of feminist movement. i can't stand bourgeois feminist politics, however. i definitely don't subscribe to the liberal notion of "if it's done by a woman, it's feminist"-- i think we need to have higher standards.

other info about me that's important: i'm a member of september 11th families for peaceful tomorrows, am not a vegan although i should be, and used to sing college a cappella. i don't know much about wemoon's army, but i figure i will soon.

I don't know why I didn't post this before... but if you're interested in learning more about the Wemoon's Army and seeing parts of some zines and parts of a Feminist Revival (video, pictures, speeches, fire show) put together by a Wemoon's Army cell, go here. The site was put together by the Guttergirlz.

In other news, the Wemoons Army site will be updated and completed within the next week or so. I'll announce it when it's all uploaded and ready.

A cell of the Wemoon's Army is planning a mini-tour around Arizona for sometime soon. But [info]vanishedsky would know more about that than me. I'll announce more as soon as I know more. I don't know if they're doing anything for theanarchist conference in Phoenix, but I assume so.

Do all of you consider yourselves Wemoon's Army?

The Bush White House has an "opinion" line for you to
call. So call and give your opinion of the proposed war in Iraq. The line only accepts calls from 9-5 EST, Monday thru Friday. Just call the White House at 202-456-1111. A machine will detain you for only a moment and then a pleasant live operator will thank you for saying "I oppose" or "I approve." It will only take minutes. Note that the
weekends are closed for calls. The president has said that he wants to know what the American people are thinking. Let him
know. Time is running out. Then please forward this e-mail to at least five people right away. Tell them what you think: 1 PHONE CALL EQUALS 10-20 PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T CALL.

Okay.. so hi! My name's Dakota. I started this community up, and created a lot of the website - though many people have comtributed to the substance of it (and YES, it's STILL incomplete]. The first wemoon's army cell I was ever in was in Ithaca, NY. Since then I've lived in Vancouver, BC and now, Tempe, AZ. I am working two jobs right now, so for about 5-6 more weeks I won't be able to be too terribly active here.

I have a stash of wemoon's army zines and can try to put up some scans or type in some of the articles in here, if anyone is interested.

Also, if anyone has any questions about what the wemoon's army is or what we do, let me know.

I'm excited that people on LJ are interested in this. Obviously this isn't a substitute for having a cell of people to gather with, but it will be a good place to have discussions about all sorts of topics and to connect from long distances to support one another.

Love and Rage,
Da`kota M. Walker.
