Finished this a while ago. It's from the Creepy Cute Crochet book as well. I love the expression on his face! Well, it looks better in person anyway. =P He's all, "What? I'm a skeleton."

Nothing I've made since then has really turned out, but once I figure out how I want to attach hair to the doll I'm working on now, I'll post her too. |

| Science Geek Ami Series |
[Aug. 29th, 2008|09:39 am] |
For Ravelry's Ravelympics, I made a series of science geek amigurumis. I was on Team Geek, so it seemed only fitting. It has taken me a while to get around to posting them here. Sorry! If you are not familiar with molecular biology lab equipment, some of these may take some explaining. Introducing Earl Lenmeyer the flask, Gillian the PCR gel, and Lenny the P-20 Pipeteman.

I put in an order recently with CR's Crafts. I ordered a bunch of eyes, as they have good prices and an okay selection. Not a ton of colors, but the prices are great and I can make due with what they've got. All the crafty stores around here only carry black and brown eyes. How boring! Anyway, if you have problems with finding eyes where you live, check that site out.
I've been working on a doll based on one of Elisabeth Doherty's patterns. I have a few crappy photos of her here and here. Boy, those are dark. I'll get some better photos later with my actual digital camera and not my crappy cell phone camera. =P
I was curious if anyone knows what happened to Beth Doherty. Her website and flicker account haven't been updated in ages and her blog isn't even there anymore. She's easily my favourite ami artist and her projects really inspire me. I hate that she's pretty much disappeared. =(
Anybody? |

I'm working on a Sundevil amigurumi for my high school's Class of '79 reunion and I've run into a problem. I need a pattern for an amigurumi pitchfork. Here's what Sparky the Sundevil looks like (for those non-ASU/Eldorado-alumni among us):
If someone could work up a pattern for his pitchfork, I would be greatly appreciative.

| alien thingy in a bunny hoodie |
[Aug. 26th, 2008|05:11 pm] |
This is one of the projects I worked on during the Olympics. I used this piece to figure out a few things that I wanted to use in my other projects. Even though it's not a bunny, it likes lettuce, so it likes to wear its bunny hoodie. =)

| Re-post |
[Aug. 25th, 2008|05:12 pm] |
Apparently, my last post is all messed up. So I'm going to repost the picture with a direct link to my Flickr, in case it gets messed up again. UPDATE: My LBY Best Bunny has gone off to its new home with Serenity, my neighbor's daughter. She doesn't quite know what to do with it yet, but she seems to like it, according to her older brother. |

| little endless |
[Aug. 25th, 2008|01:31 am] |
A while back I posted "what am I" to guess what I was making and many of you got it. :0) These little ones are inspired by The Little Endless Storybook by Jill Thompson, with characters from The Sandman. I made them as a challenge to complete all during the Beijing Olympics. Not quite done with Del, though. She wants a few more things. ;)

I THOROUGHLY loved making this little critter :} He's based on a Lion Brand Yarn pattern I think.

I used lightweight white worsted acrylic yarn and Peaches and Cream cotton yarn for the little feeties and armses. The Alien Baby is being modeled by my lovely wife in this picture. Very gracious of her. She loves him too. And so far... he's my favorite little critter yet!

| Rilakkuma Amigurumi |
[Aug. 24th, 2008|04:22 pm] |
Completed just in time for the Beijing 2008 Olympics Closing Ceremony! I participated in Ravelry's Ravelympics 2008 in the Amigurumi-n-Toys Toss event. I know my colors are a bit off (I am stash-busting!), and I don't think he turned out as cute as the real thing, but still I like him nonetheless. I made a few modifications, such as using acrylic eyes instead of the crochet ones in the pattern; also after making the ears (which require the yellow piece to be created separately, and then stitched on), I didn't like that technique and so for the arms and legs, I just did a color change. Pattern is from ISBN4-391-13107-2. |

[Aug. 24th, 2008|12:06 pm] |
I went to Utah recently, to visit my aunt, and left my ami-monster project at home. I got bored and invaded my aunt's yarn. Thus emerged my LBY Best Bunny!
Comments and opinions are appreciated! |

| Places to Donate... FYI |
[Aug. 24th, 2008|10:29 am] |
I recently saw this post in an amigurumi group on ravelry:
If anyone would like to donate Amigurumi knitted or crocheted toys to a worthy cause. Here is an address to send them to: Paula Cronquist Volunteer Services Manager Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare 200 East University Avenue St. Paul, MN 55101 651/229-3937 pcronquist@gillettechildrens.com I verified with Paula that they indeed can use them. It was posted by raveler louiseasy. |

| Trying to Amigurumi-ing along |
[Aug. 24th, 2008|10:36 am] |
Okay, so this is the first time I try to amigurumi-ing along. Since the theme is about food, I was trying to make food for my amigurumis. I don't make any cupcakes, because Squiddy's favorite food is fish!
and Bonny Bunny's favourite food is (of course) carrot. And now She won't let me take the carrot again.

The pattern were found on some old French pattern book. (thanks, mom for translating it)

| Kitty |
[Aug. 22nd, 2008|11:06 pm] |
This is the most complicated piece I've tried thus far and I'm deeply indebted to my lovely wife who helped me to stitch on the face.

Tomorrow I'm going to make a little messenger bag and knit or crochet a little scarf for the kitty to wear. Then he'll really be finished :)
I really enjoyed making this one, although I still need more practice at attaching the limbs. I do decently, but I don't have enough finesse yet :)
