Good to see Sket, Bakuman, and Mago in the upper half of the magazine. Hopefully Psyren will get somewhat of a boost for next week. I predict that Akaboshi will drop even further to be below To Love next week (akin to what happened to Hoopmen).

It's tough for me to even look at this ToC because of my extreme love of Akaboshi and Psyren.  I just can't believe Akaboshi has gone down so fast, but I will still continue to hope that it can pull itself back up though it will be a long hard road.  And I feel slightly better bout Psyren considering the color pages next week.  And WTF Gintama?  Number 1 last week now 3rd from teh bottom?

Just found this on Mangahelpers, enjoy.

Naruto (Cover + Lead CP)
Gintama
One Piece
Inumaru
Sket Dance
Lock On (One-shot, CP)
Mago
Akaboshi
Hetappi Manga Kengyuujo
Bleach (CP)
Medaka
Reborn
Beelze (CP)
Kochi Kame
Psyren
Kuroko
Bakuman
ToLoveRu
Hoop (Final)
Jaguar

Now time for comments....where do I start....One Piece being beaten by Gintama is probably the biggest surprise and then Sket and Mago being so high is pretty awesome.  Madaka's first ranking is alright I guess.  But Bakuman and Psyren remain low for another week *cries alone in a corner*

2009-31 Bottom 5
Psyren

Bakuman
ToLoveRu
Hoopman (The End)

Toriko on break

New Series:
2009-32: Kawashita Mizuki "Ane Doki"
2009-33: Tanaka Yasuki (Hitomi's author)
2009-34: Wachima Satoshi (Author who did the 1-shot in 2008-51 issue)

2009-32
Lead CP: Ane Doki
CP: Bleach, Beelze

Since it seems like no one posts the bottom five anymore I thought I would do it. :)
Seeing Hoopman die (finally) makes me very happy lol.  Its really sad to see Bakuman so low right after being so high though.  And it would appear that kuroko has collasped in on itself.  Kinda excited about there being so many new series coming in though.

After some recent low positions, both Toriko and Bakuman have jumped back into the top 5 while effectively bumping Bleach out. Kuroko no Basket is lower than I've ever seen it; it'll be interesting to see if it jumps back up again next week or not. Akaboshi is below Medaka yet again. I wonder if this trend will continue into their official ranking period or not.

4:34 pm - Sket Dance Drama CD

hungrybookworm
Looks like it hasn't been reported here yet, but apparently Sket Dance is getting a Drama CD :D
http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/3615598

CAST LIST:
Bossun: Hiroyuki YOSHINO
Himeko: Ryoko SHIRAISHI
Switch: Tomokazu SUGITA (You'd have thought they'd save money and get a computer to do it, but it's Sugita, so I'm not complaining!)

It's coming out in October, if my useless Japanese is anything to go by. Here's hoping it's a step closer to an anime adaption!

Taken from [info]sket_dance and Mangahelpers.

Good to see Mago and Sket up, but sad to see that Psyren has dropped instead. Also sad to see Akaboshi has swapped with Medaka, seeing as I enjoy Akaboshi much more. Hopefully they swap again by the time the real rankings come. Finally Eyeshield ends. Now I don't have to worry about catching up to it for the time being. Now if only the gap could be filled in for Gintama scanlations...

10:29 pm - New Shonen Jump website

yamamoto_kou

As of today, Weekly Shonen Jump has a new, updated site using the same address as its english site, but now they're both up to date with the latest news and content from Japan. (You should automatically be sent to the english version)

Don't forget to check out the Mini Game and Wallpaper section. There's a cool Akaboshi wallpaper and some games (havent tried the games but I love the wallpaper). There's also the Manga Online section which isn't really online: you have to use their manga viewer program (windows only), but they seem to have the first chapters of Dragonball (will update every Friday), Akaboshi and Medaka Box available for download in English.

2:20 am - Kochikame goes live-action

metalmagi
From ANN:

"Osamu Akimoto's 33-year-old police comedy manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo ("Kochikame") and Shōjo Manga, Naoko Matsuda's homage manga to classics such as Rose of Versailles, are both being adapted into live-action television dramas. This year's 27th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will make the Kochikame announcement on Monday. SMAP band member Shingo Katori will star as the hapless police officer Ryōtsu Kankichi. As of this month, Akimoto has released 164 volumes of the manga."

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-05-28/kochikame-shojo-manga-get-live-action-tv-dramas

So that explains why Kochikame gets the cover this week. I didn't see something like this coming. What do you all think of it?

Mago and Sket Dance have been so enjoyable for me as of late, so it's a shame to keep seeing them down in the bottom 5. Toriko and Gintama both dropped again. Can't talk for Gintama, but I wonder if general interest in Toriko has started to dwindle (I know mine has). I wonder why Reborn has gotten higher; it hasn't been any better. Lastly, it's always good to see Kochikame get some recognition. I wish more was translated. I find it to be a fun and enjoyable series.

Not sure if Psyren is ranked or not due to extra pages, but it's good to see it high nonetheless. Mago needs to get back up there; it's better than the position it's in. For now though, it's good to have Hoop as the buffer series. I can also see Medaka Box tanking once it ranks. Akaboshi, on the other hand, is quite good, and I see it being a series that lasts.

3:23 pm - Jump Covers Scan Request

yamamoto_kou

I'm looking for high resolutions of these 2009 edition covers: #04-05 and #06-07
#04-05 #06-07
The ones linked in  [Mag Talk] Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2 at Mangahelpers aren't available anymore and I've tried PMing the scan provider, but didn't get a reply. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could get these. Thanks in advance!
