First of all I want to apologise for not posting a challenge last month. RL was too busy to even think of hobbits and before I knew it was the middle of the month and no challenge was posted.
Anyway... so much stress calls for comfort - loads of it (2 months exactly, to be percise :))! Where do your wee ones find comfort? Who is there to give them a hug when it is needed most – the parents, the siblings, or a beloved cousin? Let us read about hugs and kisses, kind words and dried tears.
We would really love it if you participated in this challenge, but please remember that the community challenges are always optional, so please continue posting your other wee!hobbit stories here as well. :) |

Author's note: This is set roughly in the year 2993 of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, though I didn't exactly specify Pippin's age as I am uncertain at what age hobbits learn to walk! They age at a slower pace then men, so I thought I'd leave it up to the reader's imagination and preference. :)

Quite some time ago, lindelea1 began posting a little fic for my birthday. That was about 3 birthdays and a half ago. *grin*
Well, she has finally finished it:
"O the Fox Went Out On a Chilly Night!" (the fic formerly known as "Dreamflower's Bunny"
My "bunny" was that I wanted to know of an adventure that Merry and Ferdi had together, before Pip was born. Well, in this story, wee!Merry and even wee-er!Ferdi go off on a little adventure that proved to be quite perilous for two little lads. Even though Pippin wasn't born then, he's in the story, as Merry and Ferdi tell it to him and to some guests, around a campfire. Bilbo and Frodo also play major roles in the story as well, and the ending is just delightful.
Even though there are 25 chapters, all of the chapters are very short, so it's not all that long! I do hope you will read and enjoy it!

This doesn't fit the newest challenge, but I imagine somewhere along the way you've had a song or a bath time challenge of some kind. Hope you enjoy!
Eglantine is beside herself trying to keep her muddy lad clean, and oh my, how Pippin *hates* to take time out for a bath! During a visit to Bag End, Bilbo remedies the problem, but Eglantine isn't sure if the solution is any better...?

It's time for a new challenge at ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) wee_hobbits! We're beginning something new this month. From now on, all challenges will be bimonthly and we will recycle old challenge prompts in hopes that they will provide new inspiration (and new stories!). In honor of both your mods' birthdays in January *grin*, and the community's third anniversary in February, this month we will return to the prompt of Birthdays. How does your favorite wee hobbit celebrate his or her special day? Or is your wee hobbit of choice perhaps a guest at someone else's birthday party? What presents are exchanged? As long as your story is about a wee hobbit celebrating a birthday, we want to hear all about it!
