Need some opinions on my FH's wedding band!
Hello everyone~ I am in desperate need of some opinions about my FH's wedding band. Since we're having a civil ceremony in just a few short months, that means I have to jump on the ball and start thinking about getting his band. We're pretty simple when it comes to jewelry and decided to exchange plain white gold bands. This leads me into my small dilemma.

My FH has very small hands for a man. I mean...literally...his ring size is only 7.5. I realize that men's bands can be resized but I really think that anything wider that a 4mm band would look too big on his finger. On the other hand, I think smaller than 4mm would look too small. So in my perusing of the Kay Jewelers website...I found a 4mm plain white gold band but it was in the ladies section. So I suppose my question is...do you think anyone would even notice? It literally looks the same as the plain band in the men's section. Not only is it a good size for him but I could possibly not have to worry about having it resized for him.

What do you think planners?!

I'm a 6.75, FH is a 7.5.

The wider bands look okay on him, but then he has long slender fingers - he can wear a 5-6mm band just fine.

I ended up with a pair of engraved bands (and they're both women's rings - it's WAY too small to be a men's one).

I think if it looks good and he likes it, then buy it - why not!!

Thanks for the reply. :) I forgot to mention the fact that the only reason he doesn't wear a 7 is because he's got huge knuckles. o.O A 7 won't fit over his knuckle. It's strange.

But anyways- the one we were looking at was actually wider than the men's one anyways.

I say, who cares if it is a ladies ring as long as it looks good on his finger? No one will ever know or care!

I wish we would have thought of that! FH is a 7 (would be smaller if not for big knuckles) and we had to get it resized twice because it came back too big the first time. No one will know if you get the ladies band.

My FH is a 7.25 (smaller than me, I'm a 7.5!), and his hands look fine with the larger bands. But, unless it has a very delicate, feminine detail, which it sounds like it doesn't, no one will ever know that it's a woman's band.

Nobody will know it's a woman's band except you, your fiance, and the 4,500+ members of this community. :-)

Make sure he tries it on in person before you actually purchase it- the width may make a difference if he has big knuckles.

I really can't imagine anything on a plain gold band that could make it blatantly a ladies ring. If it fits, yay.

My FH has size 7 fingers (we have the same size fingers, lol) and I bought him a 4mm size 7 gold band. It doesn't look girlish or awkward -- it just fits!

It's totally fine and no one will notice, really.

There are a lot of rings that look identical between men's and women's versions - the only difference is that women's rings are thinner as we generally have more delicate hands.

I agree that he should go try stuff on. My fiance had to get a decently wide band because he has pretty feminine hands (long, narrow fingers). We also had to avoid bling, or anything that looked like it.

So yeah, take him to try on a 4mm band and if it works then go for it! (hey, it'll be cheaper seeing as less gold is involved)
