Favor Woes
So we decided to give awesome Old Fashioned Candy Sticks as favors and I found a seller on Ebay that sold boxes of 80 for about $12 with shipping. I got them in the mail today and here's the breakdown

Cherry: 59 broken/21 whole
Blueberry: 62 broken/18 whole
Strawberry: 51 broken/29 whole
Blackberry: 38 broken/42 whole
Butter Rum: 14 broken/66 whole

I know that some of them being broken was unavoidable, but half of them or more? In all but one box? I'm going to email them and see what they're going to do for me but I refuse to give out candies that have more damage than being broken in half and many of them are shattered.

OUch. That sucks. I'm really sorry to hear that.

It could be worse though, you could've paid more than what you did, and then you'd really be screwed. :[

I hope that the seller can work something out.

I hope you can work something out with the seller. It sounds like it is their fault for not shipping things more carefully. How were the sticks packed in the boxes?

Each flavor was stuck in a thin cardboard box that they were tightly packed into and then they were packed into another box. I think you may be right, they need to be better packed with some cushion.

If you still need candies and have a Cracker Barrel anywhere near they have them for 10cents a piece

There is one in the town the wedding is in but I live in Alaska and there aren't any up here, but I'll keep them in mind if it doesn't work out with this seller, that's about half the price I paid for these. Do you know how big they are? The ones I got are about 5 inches long and as big around as my pinky. Thanks!

They're about that size possibly a little longer. like half an inch. They also come in all the flavors you listed (i'm pretty certain). Hope things work out for you!

I forgot, the ones I got are also individually wrapped so I was just going to tie three of them together with a ribbon for easy packaging.

The ones from cracker barrel are also individually wrapped! XD So if you or someone from your wedding party can hit up their gift shop for you then you're all set.

That is awesome, now I have a back up plan :) I sorted through the broken ones and picked out the ones I'd be willing to use and there are enough that I would be able to make 91 favors but I ordered enough candy that if they weren't broken I'd be able to make 133. Using just the unbroken ones I can only make 54 favors. I'm pretty positive that it was a packing problem and that if they will exchange them and package them better for mailing that they won't break.

We have a store near us called "Bulk barn", and they are ridiculously cheap there. So maybe check out any bulk stores in your area?

But that sucks. :(

I'll check around but I live in Alaska and I don't think there's much call around here for a bulk candy store :(

Um, bubble wrap anyone? When you're dealing with delicate CANDY, I would assume you would bubble wrap like a mofo.

You would assume. Every other website I looked at yesterday said that due to the candies delicate nature they were not responsible for any broken sticks, which just means they're unwilling to package it correctly. I got an email back this morning from the lady that said she would send me replacement sticks on Monday. I suggested to her that adding some cushioning may help since the box with the least broken sticks was the one in the center. Hopefully between the sticks I have received and the new sticks she's sending me I'll have enough to do a respectable number of favors.
