Wedding Coordinators

Location:Currently in Victoria, BC, but I'll be in Toronto, Ontario, on November 29th.

My Story:I'm at the age now where so many of my friends and family are starting to get married. I'm the crafty, organizational type, so naturally I like to help out in the planning whenever I can. Someone suggested to me this past year, since I like it so much, why not go into it as a career? I'd honestly never thought about it before, but after some research, I was convinced I could be great at it.
I signed up with the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada this past July, passed my course, and now I'm certified to plan weddings! (As a side note to anyone in Canada who's looking to get into wedding coordination, WPIC is an amazing course. It's given by two sisters who are both planners, and they cover everything even remotely involved in the planning process. They're based out of Ontario, but travel to different places in Canada throughout the year to teach, so rather than a correspondence course, they give actual in-class lessons. I really can't say enough good things about them!)
The market for weddings in BC really isn't too great (especially for someone like me who is just starting out) so I'm heading to Ontario with hopes of getting my foot in the door - I've got several interviews lined up with venues who are in need of in-house coordinators, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm so glad to find this community! I've been lurking around the various wedding communities for so long, it's nice to have a place where I can actually contribute something!
