Rockstars & Strippers III Review
What an amazing night! So many people came and attended the 3rd release of the magazine Rockstars & Strippers hosted by Jamez Blonde and starred an amazing line of performers. The place was at Dinbatz in Clifton, NJ and the festivites went until the bar stopped and the people had to be swept back home at 2am. I arrived with everyone's favorite blockhead, Wilhelm Ventrillo, and we were greeted by Lilah Starr, Jordanna Marielle, Fae, Viktor, Anya, Ellory and Lily Stitches. Everyone looked fab and we were all anticipating our performances. We went in the backroom wherein we bagan to tag the walls and explored our tiny space. Then a horde of bands came in and packed our tiny room with all of their equipment. Everyone was roaming around and started to become aquainted with the bands, employees and guests. Jamez came on stage and kicked off the festivities with the WEBS first act that consisted of Lilah and Viktor doing "Crazy Bitch" by BuckCherry, Wilhelm doing his blockhead routine with a balloon, spoon and nails, Jordanna worked her stuff with her hula hoops and lastly Wilhelm and I did our second performance of "Strangers on a Train" by Lovage. Everyone went crazy and we definetely pulled it off wonderfully (Pun DEFINETELY intended). After we left the stage, jamez said "You'd better get atleast $20 for that lap dance, Lamia." The first band that came on after our act 1 was The Handfull. I unfortunatelly could not view them because I was mingling and dressing and undressing but I was front row center for the next band, and my personal favorite band ever, P.T. Grimm. I was very happy to have had them play for my Elephants finally after what seems like years of talking them up. P.T. Grimm is responsible for the music that inspired Madame Jinx to perform "Seance", the first act WEBS has performed for R&S's first ever magazine release back in November. They played an amazing set as per usual and those who were fortunate enough to attend were not dissapointed in the least bit. I blame them for this horrible neck pain i'm in right now, but it's a good kind of pain and it was definetely worth it. As I told Wilhelm, "It's the music. Anytime I hear their music live I just lose myself in it and I feel completely liberated." I honestly don't care if I'm the only one dancing, if you are in my dancing bubble, you eventually get cought up in it.. sometimes by force if need be. The Hoodless played the next set which was also awesome and the bassist was mad friendly and had a shiny purple bass. I wanted to steal it. Purple and Shiny are my two favorite colors EVER! Then came the next set of WEBS which I, as Lamia, was incredibly nervous for. The set kicked off with Anya doing her amazingness as always to a cover of "Feeling Good" by Muse, Fae and Lily playing naughty schoolgirl and nun to "Mary, Mary" by Chumbawumba (yeah, the "i get knocked down" guys), and I finalized the set again with my 5+ minute striptease to "More Human Than Human" by White Zombie. THAT was the most intense thing i've done since "Seance" but everything went smoothingly and I couldn't have asked for a better audience. We kept getting so much feedback from the patrons and bands alike that I felt like i should have had a sharpie marker on hand to sign some boobs. Even though we were technically the "strippers" I think we fet alot more like rockstars that night.

I'd like to thank Jamez Blonde and everyone at Rockstars & Strippers magazine for putting us in their second magazine spread and letting us perform for them at their amazing parties. You can be sure I'll be there for the next party dancing or not.
Thanks to The Handfull, The Hoodless, Dig and especially Mike, Jeremy, Pete, Greg and Sean from P.T. Grimm who continue to give me inspiration as well as their continued support and undying friendship for the past 7 years.
Thanks to all of our friends who came out to see us and had a great time. The Drama Llamas were tucked neatly away in their pens and should remain there.
Thank you to the photographer (I'm sorry, I forgot your name) for all of the amazing photographs that night. You are the best!
Thanks also go out to Dingbatz and the city of Clifton (my old stomping ground) for giving us their incredibly awesome space for us to perform as well as their generous hospitality to both WEBS and the bands who made us sound and look phenominal.
Last, but definetely not least, Thank you to George and Genn and all of the White Elephants of the Burlesque Society. If it wern't for you guys, i'd still be dreaming about becomming a burlesque star instead of actually living it. My life is now complete.

Love Always,
Regina Stargazer (aka Lamia Luxuria)

a Wicked Faire goer just posted her review of Faire this year, and had this to say about WEBS

* We saw the White Elephant Burlesque Society perform. Although I enjoyed their performance, I felt a little weird, because they all looked so very young...

for the most part, we're mostly on the younger side, but not like 14, like some people think i am...

"No on, no one, no one... can get in the way for the way I feel for you..."
In this case, it's George. Because he's awesome. I am so tickled by the simplest of things. Right now, it's the spacer he put in on our Gatherings page.

C'mon, that's fucking adorable!

Sweeney Todd, Shows
Sweeney Todd Greetings to any and all actually out there... I am sitting here, listening to the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd, anticipating when the DVD arrives in my mailslot. I think it's safe to say much of the Society fell in some serious love with the Tim Burton film. I know that I did. In fact, it made a true fan of the show, when I was just shy of being a casual fan.

We haven't posted much in the blog. Not that there isn't crazy happenings going on. Perhaps we're just too busy doing them. I have a personal journal that doesn't get much love, either, so it is nothing personal.

I will try, as my April Fools resolution, to write more here.

Our next show is in May, and the one following is also in May. Since we haven't performed since February, it seems like a long time to wait, but to have two within 15 days of themselves in QUITE daunting. They also couldn't be more different; one is to have a more rock feel and the other more of a carnival/vaudevillian touch. That's us, though, we don't much like one genre over another.

While you're out there, check out Sweeney Todd on DVD and also keep a watch out for the upcoming Dresden Dolls CD No, Virginia, which I would like pretty much yesterday.

I'll be back soon. Stay well.

"I am a wonderlust king."
It seems that we're getting more and more bookings. It also seems there's been no action in this community since it's inception back in September of '07. Let's change that!

Pimp the word out to your friends! The White Elephant LJ is alive and well. While we may be a little on the scant side, isn't that why people come to our shows?

All puns aside, we've had a great time since SalonCon last year! We were invited to perform for the launching of a new New Jersey magazine called Rockstars and Strippers. Stay tuned for future performances affiliated with them! They are good people and we had a lot of fun doing that show.

We also were asked to perform at Wicked Labyrinth in 2007 and just finished a great show at Wicked Faire.

In other news, members of WEBS were in Voltaire's music video for "Happy Birthday, My Old Friend" that is rumored (by Voltaire himself) to be coming out in July). We'll let you know as soon as we know. For now, you can check out pics in our gallery. Additionally, we had an internet radio interview on Non-Productive, of Click Radio.

Okay, that briefly sums up the last few months! Check back for more show info; we've got a few hot leads and we want all of you there!
