I was in class during the storm itself (it started raining as I was walking over), but when I came out I got a lovely view of the backside of the storm.

A couple of days ago the Canterbury region of NZ had some pretty crazy weather. Dry, hot Fohn wind weather, a wind storm (that I had to drive in), humid heat, and a quick but amazing thunderstorm that brought with it hail and jagged forks all within 2 days. I was out of Christchurch when the storm hit, but I saw it approaching the coast from further south. Sadly it bypassed where I was and moved up the coast. I took a couple of basic photos of the storm.

A bizarre bowfront rolled across Illinois on 12/27/08. It brought with it bizarre high temperatures, 24 hours of heavy multistate blanketing fog, an unusual December tornado warning, and torrential downpours.

My buddy in New Hampshire took these pics. He has some nice photog equipment and is really lucky to be with power. I'm not hosting them so I'm not reducing their size, and it would be a waste to do so anyway since the detail would be lost.

This photo was taken about an hour west of Madrid, at sunset
on October 4th, 2008. The viewpoint is from a little rancho at
the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama.



Only change was a small tweak in contrast in Photoshop.

Rain stiffened up.

snailey's post about yesterday's Fohn wind here in Christchurch reminded me to post pictures of the mammatus clouds I saw the other day:

The one on the right looks like the Foot of God coming through the clouds.

Typical NWster sunset last night. This same weather brought with it a bush fire and damage from hot 120km/h gusts of wind today. Being near the coast meant the wind was strong, but not as strong, and I got to enjoy the resulting 28 degree (82F) heat.

More time-lapse. This was taken in a local Cemetery. Lot's of racing clouds, some macro stuff, and a rain storm sweeping in from the ocean.
