Mmm, books.
Michael and I went to the library yesterday after I got out of volu-work and I took out three books. It is now the day after, about 28 hours later, and I have already finished two of them! What, I couldn't help it! They were really good. The first was Roommates Wanted by Lisa Jewell. It took place in London and kept making me speak in my attempt at a British accent. The second, which I started this morning and just finished, was The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton. It's definitely a "chick" book, but it was so wonderful. It's about these five woman living in the 60s-70s and getting together to write while all around them the world is changing with feminism and such. I didn't explain that well at all, but it was wonderful.

Anyway, they've both been added to my 2008 Book List. I'm up to 66 books this year!

Nothing much exciting happening today. Reading The Wednesday Sisters really made me want to write again, I just don't know what. Maybe I'll work on one of my old short stories or something.

ARG WHY DO THE FATES CONSPIRE AGAINST ME.

After the busy-week-from-hell, I am now sick. A sudden onset cold, beginning with some sniffles at dinner, continuing onto blowing my nose every five minutes while watching the DNC on TV, and then waking up at about 2am with a sore throat.

Also... I got carded when I bought cold medicine this morning. WTF.

Going back to sleep now.

1. It's my birthday today. Rejoice!

2. I am moving into the new apartment on Monday. I'm excited about it, even if I keep having weird dreams where somehow we manage to bring the wrong bed and I'm stuck sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress and then get eaten by dogs.

3. MOONLIGHT. I am like three minutes in and I have this to say: Mick St. John: I'd hit it. ALSO, why did all the buzz around this show concentrate on Mick St. John and VampireLogan and not at all on SHANNYN SOSSAMON who is apparently in it? I mean, I haven't gotten to any parts of the episode that have her yet, but I totally started watching because I looked it up on IMDB and saw her name.

From the Obama campaign - why McCain's VP pick is the stuff of lunacy, in a nutshell:

Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Smart pick? No. Entertaining? Absolutely.

Hope
What a night to be alive.

I've seen dozens of posts on my flist that have already eloquently said what I feel about his oratory, his passion, his ability to communicate the powerful and necessary meaning of hope. So let me add this to those wonderful posts - I'm inspired tonight not just because of what he said but because of this:

Funny movie!
Mike and I just watched this movie called "Doomsday". It is like... 15 movies all rolled into one. It was both cool and funny at the same time. Seriously, it had:

A killer virus, anarchy, corrupt politicians, knights in shining armor (literally), crazy punk dudes with motorcycles and lots of piercings, cannibalism, castles, gladiators, crazy military men, archers, the end of the world and car chases.

I am SERIOUS. You should watch it. I found it On Demand under the new releases. Awesome.
