overdue posting of an FO
a few weeks before the holiays i

it's from Charmed Knits, Bill's wand case, but altered a little.  my son likes to play knight so i turned it into a scabbard for one of his swords.  all i needed to do was make it yellow (his favorite color), lengthen it, and instead of the belt loop, make a tie to go around his waist (he doesn't wear belts).  i've been meaning to borrow Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them from the library again to see if there's a dragon that could account for the yellow color.  we shall see.  i just wanted to share.  :-)  even though it's not technically HP, it's a pattern from the HP knitting book.  it was fun and would've taken me less time had a stayed focused on it better.  but it does look like scales.

Awesome! :) I like how you changed the pattern to suit you, or suit your son rather. Are you planning to make anything else from Charmed Knits?

i've done the common room hat (in book Ravenclaw colors) for my daughter (almost 2y/o) but the small size ended up big enough to fit me. oh well, she'll grow into it. i think she's a Gryffindor anyway. i'm currently working on a POA style scarf (in Slytherin) for a friend's daughter and a SS style scarf (in movie Ravenclaw) for myself. someday, i intend to get adventurous enough to make one of pairs of socks in memory of Dobby. we shall see. i do love that book though!

That came out great! To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a yellow dragon, but the Peruvian Vipertooth is said to be copper; maybe tanning the hide changes the color to a softer yellow. ;)

Hope he enjoys his new scabbard.

that could definitely work. i was hoping that maybe the Chinese Fireball had a yellow underbelly or something. i like the Vipertooth idea though. i would definitely think that drying and tanning a hide would cause a color change.
