I just thought I'd make a note to say that for the first time in some 15 years, I don't have a single library book. |

Due: 9/30/2006 Kids Weaving, by Sarah Swett One of those crafts I always want to do but never get around to. The Healthy House Book, by Gina Lazenby I plan to actually take notes from this book this time. Witches & Magic Makers, EyeWitness Books I love this series. How to Speak Politely and Why, by Munro Leaf This is awesome! The dust jacket says there's also one called How to Act and Why, which I also need. Gullah Home Cooking, the Daufuskie Way, by Sallie Ann Robinson I don't read enough about the Gullah. Appalachian Folkways, by John B. Rehber Nothing to say on this, really--it's the sort of thing I pick up and forget to look through. Folk Medicine in Southern Appalachia, by Anthony Cavender I'm much more likely to go through this. Simply Tarot, by Leanna Greenway This fell off the shelf at me. I figured I'd better get it. The Cherokee Full Circle: A Practical Guide to Ceremonies and Traditions Seemed the thing to pick up.
Due: 9/28/2006 Williams-Sonoma: Florence This is obvious. Florentine food. No way I don't pick something like this up. Williams-Sonoma: French Well . . . honestly, I grabbed it because the cover photograph was appealing. Good photography can make a bad cookbook worth looking through. I suspect this one isn't bad, though. Chocolate Therapy, by Kathy Farrell-Kingsley Chocolate. CHOCOLATE. The Fifth Taste: Cooking with Umami, with recipes from 25 of America's best chefs I went a little wild with the cookbooks. There are more. Make It Italian: The Taste and Technique of Italian Home Cooking, by Nancy Verde Barr This is surprisingly poorly written. House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski This was recommended to me by a Leo a long, long time ago. Spinning in the Old Way, by Priscilla A. Gisbon-Roberts Spinning is another thing I always want to do, but never get around to. I'll have to dig out my spindle and wool and have another go. I love the idea of having a spinning wheel and sitting around while people are talking, and spinning, and then sending the yarn to my mother so she can crochet it into something interesting. Easy Italian Reader: A Three-Part Text for Beginning Students, by Ricarda Saggese This is pretty cool. Readings of increasing difficulty, intended to broaden one's vocabulary and skill as it goes. Speak Italian: The Fine Art of the Gesture, by Bruno Munari This is awesome. Italian gestures :)
Due: 9/20/2006 Michael Chiarello's Casual Cooking Another cookbook. The layout is pretty, but I haven't actually looked at the content yet. Drive-In Spanish for Kids This is great! It's songs for kids, to cement Spanish in their heads. I haven't actually listened to the whole thing yet, though, because it isn't Italian. A Distant Soil vol 2: The Ascendant, by Colleen Doran I really liked the first volume, and need to sit down for an evening to read this volume.
There we go. That's all my library books.
Should I list the stacks from my own collection that I keep meaning to sit down with and study? ;)

I went to the library for the first time in several weeks, yesterday. I had a $1.50 fine, and the desk guy didn't understand how that was possible. I happily paid it, wished the library well, and checked out a stack of books.
HOPE THROUGH HEARTSONGS, by Mattie J.T. Stepanek Mattie is Sati. ELIMINATE CHAOS The 10-Step Process to ORganize Your HOME & LIFE, by Laura Leist Maybe this will be helpful. BOOK OF CHOCOLATE, by Annie Perrier-Robert Oh joy and bliss. CHOCOLATE DESSERTS BY PIERRE HERME, by Dorie Greenspan This book is huge. CLASSIC PALESTINIAN COOKERY, by Christiane Dabdoub Nasser This is one of those times I see something and think, "Huh? I know NOTHING about that." and grab the book. THE MEDIEVAL KITCHEN Recipes from France and Italy, by Odile Redon, Francoise Sabban, & Silvano Serventi (translated by Edward Schneider) ZINGERMAN'S GUIDE TO GOOD EATING, by Ari Weinzweig Mmmmm. My Lecter sense is happy.
There's also the second season of the American tv series 24, and a book called JOIE DE VIVRE (by Robert Arbor), which were checked out by queenantlyn, but I'm getting use out of them.
Edit: 2:44pm Ummm. Source library: The main branch of the Laurel County Public Libraries, Kentucky |
