8:57 pm - Chocolate Caramel Discontinued... Again
|

quantico
|
A week or so ago, I noticed that my local Wawa was no longer brewing the chocolate caramel flavor. Asked one of the cashiers, who confirmed that it had been discontinued. I wrote corporate a short email expressing my disappointment and received the following reply today. Check behind the cut for the email.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anything is replacing it, except maybe decaf hazelnut... but decaf is useless to me, so, oh well! Not sure what the "French Vanilla" coffee is that they mention towards the end. We only have Vanilla Cream here, maybe that's what they meant? ( Read more... )

2:11 pm - Why does Johnny Knoxville have a WAWA tattoo? Because they ROCK
|

Wawa’s are clean, inexpensive and you can practically go shopping for anything in there. I bought a spare tire, some Fruit Loops, a pair of suspenders, a root canal, an extra button for my pants and a chicken salad hoagie, all in one trip. I was stuffed and my pants didn’t fall down. I couldn’t do that at any other convenience store. Did you ever notice when a Wawa gets built within a block or two from a 7/11, the Wawa parking lot is always packed to the gills. People are parking on the street, or they are walking 4 miles to get there, or they take the bus. Heck, I saw one person leave their car in neutral and hop out of the car while it was moving, just to get into Wawa. It is addicting. While the new Wawa is packed with people, the 7/11 has two cars in it and one belongs to the person working there, but they never, ever go out of business. I have never seen a 7/11 close before. How does this happen? And why wouldn’t they try and mimic the more successful Wawa model? It is baffling. Anyway, today the Waltdog is going to top at Mawa, he needs a steering wheel cover, a pair of driving gloves and directions to the hidden Rebel base for the Emperor, he is getting impatient driving around lost in the Death Star.

10:26 am - Free coffee!

This may be old news, but I was very pleasantly surprised this morning when my 20-oz coffee was free because I was also getting a Sizzli. Through 15 February, get a free 20-oz coffee with any breakfast sandwich (Sizzli or Ciabatta)!
Of course, now I've already had 75% of my daily cholesterol allowance... there's a downside to everything.

11:50 am - shirts (part 2)
|

lhld
|
thanks for the response guys. it's easier to do another post than to respond to all the comments... (i'm lazy).
apparently my cabinet full of workshirts lied to me, and i've only actually got FOUR wawa shirts. (but if anyone wants KB shirts... do you think there's a comm for that?) SHIRTS: two of the red polos (XL), one strawberry shake (2x), and one iced tea/coffee (2x). OTHER: three gray aprons, two black "try our new steamers & lattes" aprons, and a "freshly brewed" coffee hat (never worn, because i have a big head).
idk how high the demand is. just putting the info out.

10:23 pm - shirts for sale?
|

lhld
|
i know people sell the wawa shirts on ebay for a small profit, but all i see are the newer ones. i worked there for a year from 2005-2006, so i've got quite a stock of shirts... (i can do an inventory later)
but i'm wondering if anyone in this comm would like any, first? like i said, i can do an inventory, but if there's no interest... i won't bother.
any other suggestions? thanks!

9:09 pm - Chocolate Macadamia Coffee
|

xrockravenx
|
Hello all,
My favorite coffee at Wawa was Chocolate Macadamia. I used to like mixing it with Vanilla Cream coffee and adding a little bit of French Vanilla creamer. It was my perfect cup of coffee.
Whatever happened to Chocolate Macadamia???
Why did Wawa stop making it? Was it unpopular? ::is saddened::
I sure hope they bring it back again someday the way they brought back the chocolate caramel one..I thought it would be a good replacement for me..but I'm just not digging it :(
Anyone know?
Thanks.

5:41 pm - Associates in Need Fund
|

starshadow2004
|
In case you're asked to contribute to the Wawa Associates in Need Fund, and was wondering what the heck it was, here's my questions and the company's answers. (I'm rather surprised I got a speedy response.)
Who administers the fund? The Fund is administered by five Wawa associates who constitute the Fund's Board of Directors. The Fund is a separate entity apart from Wawa.
Who decides what a "severe financial hardship resulting from a catastrophic event" is and gets money from the fund? The Fund's Board of Directors
If one does have a "severe financial hardship resulting from a catastrophic event," then how does one get money from it? Applications are available on mywawa.com and through Wawa's Internal Care Department.
Does one have to be an associate or does one have to pay into the fund to get money? (Or is it something else that the money pays for, and if so, what is it?) The Fund makes donations to Wawa associates and their families. There currently are no other eligibility requirements.
How much money is anticipated the fund will generate? The Fund has established a $1,000,000 goal by September 2009.
Is there a minimum amount of money that is needed per store before the fund becomes active? No, however, the Fund's success depends on associate contributions. Without contributions from Wawa associates, the fund will not survive.
How many stores is it anticipated will participate? The Fund's goal is that as many Wawa associates donate as possible.
Full disclosure: I asked these questions through the company Web site, and identified myself as an associate (e.g., this is in no way related to my other job.)
For those who are curious and want a back story, a manager was trying to persuade someone I know to contribute. Said person pocketed it and said they would have to think about it, because they wanted more info on it (look at your favorite charity and see how much actually goes toward their cause, rather than administrative or even fundraising expenses!) The manager said they wanted the form right then and there, and was - miffed? upset? - that the person did not want to commit to contributing, to which said person replied, "Then why are you giving us the form today?"

I figured this was as good a place as any to share my latest tattoo. It's part of a full-size backpiece, but I really think it gives it a nice touch.
Oh, and I should mention that is was done by Carla Hopkins at No Ka Oi Tattoo at 4th and South Street.
