Why are we here? The communty was created because water media in general are not as highly respected within the art world as other media. Watercolor is often associated with hobbyists or bad landscape paintings, not with real, solid artistic concepts and technical ability. We are here to show otherwise. This is a community for artists who use water media as professionals, who can give their water media paintings true dignity, or who are frustrated with what is available to watercolor painters.
Can I post artwork? Yes. Expect critiques to be honest, however.
Is there anything else we can hope to accomplish? Yes. Feel free to post your thoughts on materials (such as what papers you use and why) or information on galleries and juried shows that have been accepting of watercolor works in the past. Also, post post POST information on other water media painters, past and present.
Watercolor is not my primary medium. Can I still join this community? Sure. So long as, when you do approach a watercolor painting, you do so with the same seriousness as you would with any other art form.
I want to post something as a trial to see if I really want to join the community. Can I? Yes. I set it up so this is possible. If it is abused, I will change it. Please join the community if you wish to post frequently.
Are there any rules? Yes. Use common sense. Be respectful. You may say "I don't like this painting," but you may NOT say "I don't like you." Also, I would like for this to be an all ages community, so use a cut with a warning for anything that grandma would find inappropriate. Finally, if you have an issue with something, or someone, please back it up thoroughly. Constructive criticism is only helpful if it is well thought out and detailed.
The above contact information is a (practically) direct line to the moderator. Use it for any questions you may have. Also, contact the moderator if your website does not allow hotlinking and you still wish to share something with the community. You can have (limited, reasonable) space on the moderator's website for up to a month so that you can share. After a month, your work will be moved and you should edit the post to contain a url back to your own website.
