asst. manager training?
What is the process of getting into management training? I put in for it and listed about 6 stores other than mine that I would be intertrested in training at. Anyone know also how long the process takes, pay difference? I'm assuming it's like changing to another position, you have to put in for it, then you're interviewed if they are interested ect..?
I am a CSM now and I love the store I work in (supercenter) but I would also like to move up in the chain, especially since I feel we are doing much of the functions of an asst. manager already where I work.

Don't you have to take a test on the computer? I'm not sure it has been a long time since I check it out (years).

Well, first you have to make a deal with this guy named Beelzebub...

:-D

I kid, of course. But as [info]philmr said above, you have to take and pass the Tactical Leadership Assessment (TLA) on the Wire. Very similar to the Supervisory Leadership Assessment (SLA) for department managers/CSMs, only I think it has more questions.

yeah I took it when I took the test and passed it, was almost identical I think just a bit longer.
I was just wondering how long the process is to get into mangmt. training or how often those positions pop up from store to store.

if an opening at one of the stores you chose, the mgr will call you if you are one of his top candidates. I got a call about 3 mths after checking mine off.

Good luck!

i think twice a year they take a group of people through the training program. they all train at 1 store within the district. i think the training lasts for about 6 weeks. once they think you're ready to go, they send you out to a store.

this is 100% wrong.

If you meet the requirements, take and pass the leadership test, and choose which store you would like to go to, then if the store that you chose has an opening the mgr would call you for an interview (if he selects you for his group of applicants).

The training class lasts for 8 weeks. We have 2 LOIF training classes in my state. LOIF = Leaders Out In Front

You will stay at a hotel near the store you will do your training at. Walmart pays for your hotel, mileage, and gives you a pre-paid visa for your meals and gas while you are there.

I think this just about sums it up. Hope it helps.
