pretty much the same reason they go through the express lanes, they think it will be faster but don't consider the other customers trying to come through with just a few items, stupid customers.

It's mind boggling, isn't it? Especially when they have a cart full. And god forbid they bring clothes out there!

"Can you wipe that counter off? I'm surprised by the fact that the counter is dirty!"

"I'm going to hand you this pile of clothes and I expect you to be able to take them off the hanger, ring them up, an put them in a bag all with putting them down."

I cringe whenever i see someone come to me with clothes out in garden. Yesterday my counter was full of dirt when this woman came out buying undergarments. She put a white bra right on top of the counter which of course covered it in dirt. She didn't seem to care at all though. o_O

They always act honestly surprised, don't they? Then, if you have been dealing with plants all day you may be dirty too and they are totally offended by that. "Don't touch my clothes! It's so dirty out here!" It's GARDEN CENTER, you frickin' idiot!

I have actually refused to check people out when they have that many items. I work in electronics where we have 2.5 feet of space... and that will not hold a cartfull of items... when i refuse them i make something up about my cash register will only allow so many items... and to this day not a single one of them has complained... I have done this whenever someone with a huge cart comes in for the last year...

You should see the faces on the electronics cashiers when I came through with lots of stuff in my cart (though, not a full cart, mind you) and I assured them I am just paying for electronics-related stuff (I think it was a printer cable or ink or something else) and then went up to the front to pay for the non-electronics stuff :P

I will ring whatever anyone brings me, even though my Electronics can only so one bag at a time. If they have seriously a lot of stuff (full cart or MULTIPLE full carts) I ask them to grab an empty cart for me to bag into, because there is no other way to do it with that much shit merchandise.

Are you possibly a sexy beast such that people will come from all over the store just to "check you out"?

I've had people with HUGE carts full of stuff come to my line when I'm on the smoke registers, with my little counter and three bags. :\ A couple weeks ago, a fellow cashier had a guy with two full carts go to him on one of the smoke registers. I know sometimes at night there's no other registers open, but damn... when there is, there's no excuse. Drives me bonkers.

I sympathize completely. My Connection Center counter isn't much bigger than your Garden one, and I have two bag racks: one small and one medium...and morons will come through with carts full of clothes and toys and whatnot expecting to be cashed out. Sometimes, just for the hell of it, I'll look them square in the eye and say "Oh, did you have questions about that stuff?" :-D

MMM...when on express I hate the big carts. What pisses me off the most is that I'll get the turntable filled with bags hanging off all sides and spots, that I'll start scanning stuff and having it unbagged on my register, collecting all thats been scanned, and they push everything together and throw things on ALREADY scanned stuff. I'll push it back and they give me a dirty look.

I had someone come through the garden center with 2 full carts of food last year. I wanted to throw plants at them.

at my store outlying regsiters are 10 items or less and also no produce. seriously though departments are there to help customers that are actually buying from that department, not to check out customers that do not want to wait in line.
