So, last thursday I sprained my shoulder. Friday it hurt and was tender but I took somepain pills and got thew the day. I had the weekend off, and sunday my arm felt 100 % agian. Monday I work and my arm hurts moreandmoeasthe day goes on. Tuesday I wasin so much pain I was in tears so I left early to go to the doctors and got a Rx for naproxin (Which I was already taking) and a muscle relaxer. No note for time off or light duty. So wendsday I go to work, I try, but after two hours I asked to go home early, use personal time, and use sick time for Thursday and Friday. Since I was off on the weekend it wold give my arm almost five full days of rest to heal. My supervisor (The headpharmasist) signed of on the use of personal time even though he bitched to personell that he needed a doctors note. (Personell had one already saying my shoulder was sprained). Personell said I didn't need to call in on the days I requested off becuase my supervisor already signed off on the use of sick time, basically approving the absences.

I stop by work today to pick up some groceries and find out I was marked as a no call-no show on friday and the talk in the pharmacy was thatI was about to be terminated. Since aparently my absence on thursday was going to giveme a D-Day when I came back on friday, and since I wasn't thereon friday it's now a termination.

WTF??? The pharmasist didn't read the slip he signed approving my sick time, and come to find out that, hey, I could have a doctors note saying Ihad Strep or H1N1 and Iwould still need to work because DOCTOR NOTES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

That's right, according to the assistant mangers theonly approved absenses are 1)Berivment 2)Jury Duty 3)Hospitalization/ER visit

So instead of going to an in-network doc and using insurance I should have went to the ER, which my insurance doesn't cover, for something that wasn't an emergancy. Has everyone went completely bonkers?

And I couldn't get transfered to door greeter either becuase my doc didn't write a note saying I should be on light duty. And what did the pharmisist sugest? "Take tylenol and deal with it"

I;m right handed, my right shoulder is sprained, so everything hurts and I have to learn to do things left handed, and get yelled at cause I;m not working fast enough becuase two tylenol will take away the pain of a sprain when they insist I use the arm thatshould be resting.

A wtf event that happened to me Thursday night at work.

I was watching the self check registers when a customer I've checked out a few times walks by with her children and husband. She gets a few feet past me then stops and turns

her: Oh, I made this, and I really like it but God told me to give it to you next time I saw you. It has amythyst in it. (hands me a bracelet and continues on her way.

I was reading a forum on facebook actually where some walmart people talk also. I came across these words and it scared the hell out of me.

"Our Store starts next week, breaking all the department managers into 5
teams, PI Team, Mod Team and 3 merchandising teams. I know there are
stores out there that already function with this style I would just
like to know what to expect"

This is exactly how target is set up. I can see them doing something like this in all stores perhaps because they added the zones. It is only being tested in a few stores from what I can tell. (For now.) Thoughts?

Mood: Wal-Mart...I am Disappoint

...but you'll be understanding why I'm whipping out "Pants On Head Retarded" in a moment.

Now, quite recently, we got something rather exclusive to Wal-Mart. It's called Straight Talk, Yet Another TracFone Company (YATFC). I'm sure you've heard about it, but in case you missed it, it's a prepaid phone that gives you 1000 minutes and 1000 text messages a month for $30, or unlimited talk and text for $45 a month. It's just like the TracFones; you come in, you buy the cards, you go home with a phone with minutes. You just have to do it far more often.

Thus far, it's been rather popular with the 12-20 year old female demographic, as well as the people who really shouldn't be owning cell phones (in my nowhere near humble opinion). Then again, I can blame nobody - the most you're going to get for $30 from the contracts is a laugh in the face, and $45 will BARELY cover 450 talk time minutes and an itty bitty messaging package. The deal's there, and it's so blindingly obvious Stevie Wonder would be able to see it, clear as day.

Now, while it is a damn good deal, let's admit it, it's not for everyone. Some people use the prepaids as one of those "in case I'm bleeding out in a 38 car pile up" sorts of situations. You know: IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. TracFone is arguably best for that. Despite the shiny new plan of awesome, a lot of people are sticking with TracFone. It makes sense, and I positively refuse to try to convince anyone otherwise (especially because of my assistant manager, who today suggested I try to sell someone looking for a replacement TracFone a Straight Talk, despite the fact that he said, very clearly, several times, IN FUCKING FRONT OF HER that he wanted to keep his TracFone minutes when he transferred it over. Can you say "money hungry douchebag"?).

Apparently, someone on the higher rungs doesn't believe as I do.

We've been without TracFones for a couple of WEEKS now. This is bad, especially since I have a lot of people coming in looking for new ones. They know we've had them before, especially since I've seen half the people come in, look at them, and say "maybe later. Wal-Mart will always carry them, after all". Perfectly logical, considering. They also know, being either past customers or friends of past customers, that the christmas season is the BEST time to pick up TracFones, since they have those bonus packs WITH the Double Minutes included (one free minute for each minute you purchase, if you're unaware).

So why are we chronically sold out? Are they moving that fast?
I'm afraid not. You see, someone decided that our store was NO LONGER GOING TO BE TRAITED FOR TRACFONES. Rough translation, someone up on high decided that we are no longer allowed to carry one of our most asked for products.

Lemme repeat that: some grade-A winner decided that a store which is know for having TracFones, and is actually one of the first places people go to get them, is no longer allowed to carry them.

Has it sunk in yet?
Well, here's the big kicker: according to the very panicked DISTRICT MANAGER that cares for Electronics, it came from someone well over her. Regional? Corporate? I'm willing to hinge my bets on that last one there...

Now, I know I've commented on which parts of the brain I believe our decision makers have had removed to come up with some of the pure Win they deliver to us, but this one takes the bloody cake.

Can anyone - ANYONE - please give me one logical reason to justify ANY Wal-Mart (not just my own) should not carry TracFones. I will reward you.

Somehow.

Any other apparel folks out there who want to snap the Merry Madagascar promo DVD in half? They've got the Hot Spot set up between the fitting room and Jewelry, two places I spend a lot of time.

If I'm told to shake it like a snowglobe one more time....

Subject:Time Clock Issues....
Security:Public
Mood: annoyed

Last week was very frustrating for me. I work nights Monday-Thursday as an over night cashier. I clocked in fine on Monday. On Tuesday I clocked in, but when I attempted to clock out for lunch it said I was missing my clock in time.

I was confused because I knew I'd clocked. I try to clock back in from lunch and I get the same message. Same message when I clock out for the night. I decide to go to a manager and attempt to get it straightened out.

She checks her little time sheet program and it shows the clock didn't clock me in properly. So she fixes it and I'm assuming it's a glitch in the program because others had said it was doing the same to them.

I come in on Wednesday thinking it'll be all taken care of. I go to clock in and says again that I'm missing my clock in date Tuesday. But I watched the lady fix it. I'm even more confused now and feeling a bit paranoid.

So I began writing down all my punch times because I really don't trust that Walmart will try to cheat me out of time somehow. I go back to the lady and show her my time punches and her program says I never clocked in again.

This continued all week and the lady swears she has no idea what's going on and doesn't really seem that interested in making it right. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I possibly do to correct this?

Thanks for reading.

Subject:OK, I keep getting this pop up
Security:Public

that says enter you name and email address for a $1000 gift at Wal-Mart, only when I log on here. Is anyone one else getting it on here? Do they so want to know who I am so they can fire me that they will pay for the pop up? I will tell them that I work at store 0205, I am old, I have worked there for more than 10 years. There is nothing that I say on here that I would not say to their face.
Another thing. I just hear today in the break room that the Chinese government has bought 51 % of Wal-Mart stock. Has anyone else hear this? Could this be why we are getting so many product made in China. The clothing is coming in with 10 size same, 5 size medium, 8 size large, 2 size xl, and 2 size 2x. Boy did they miss the boat in my town. Ours are 10 size 2x, 8 size xl, 5 size large, 2 size medium, and no small.
You know once, during the 1940's made in China was only on dinner wear. If you could find dishes that said made in China then you paid top dollar for them and had something extra special. Now made in China mean watch out, there may be something in them that cause you health problems. Don't buy it.

Anybody that's in Ronnie Hayes's region, if you get a chance to watch his video sometime next week......that's yours truly leading the cheer at the end. I made a smart comment about my manager (off screen) and he volunteered me. (I usually do the cheer anyway, I've got a bit of a big mouth.......you'll see.)
Enjoy...

Subject:The Difference Between A Blowjob And A Hummer...
Security:Public
Mood: rejuvenated

When I was at Barnes & Noble I worked with a lady named Pat.  She was somewhere in her late fifties, and she was very cool.  We had many conversations in the break room and became quite close.  She was not your average fifty-some year old lady.  Well, she went to Pahrump, Nevada with her husband the one year for vacation.  Pat liked to gamble, and did rather well with blackjack.  When she returned she secretively told me about visiting and touring one of the legalized brothels.  The way she described it, you would go in and describe what you were looking for in a woman....tall, short, black, white, blonde, brunette, etc.  Then the girl would take you to a room and present you with a menu of the services available.
Out of curiosity I asked her, "How much would, say, a blowjob go for?"
Pat replied, "Anywhere from 8-15 hundred."
I recall thinking $1,500 was about $1,490 too much, but I live in Central Pennsylvania, not Nevada.
Some years later I was working as an associate in the produce department at my old Walmart.  The one morning I was working with Denise, the supervisor...Michelle, a fellow associate in her late twenties, early thirties...and Alice, a lady in her late sixties, maybe early seventies.  Alice was a bright woman, but was prone to blonde moments.
Anyway, I don't know how we got onto the subject, but I started telling them about Pat's trip to Pahrump.  As I got towards the end of the story I realized I probably shouldn't say "blowjob" around Alice...she was cool and all, but I just would have felt funny saying it.  So I get to the end and I say, "So I asked Pat, 'How much would a.......hummer be?'  And she told me anywhere from 8-15 hundred..."
Alice chimes in with, "I've always wanted one but they're just so darned expensive.....and get terrible mileage."
I just looked at Denice and Michelle.
Michelle leaned over and whispered in Alice's ear.
Alice's eyes go wide and she said, "Ohhhhhhhhh........"

Mood: sleepy

Hi, I have been an overnight associate at my store for a few years now. Up until a little bit ago, we've had the same managers for years. But now we got new managers and our schedules are so messed up. Our days off are split up, we don't have two days off in a row. One of the associates went to another store around here and asked the overnight associates at that store how they were worked, and they all said they have 2 nights off in a row.

So then most of the people I work with finally get over that part, we look at our schedules for the week of thanksgiving and I have a 13 hour shift....is that even illegel?!?!? And the worst part about that was, I've been ful time for the past three years, got 40 hours 99% of them, even got 40 hours sometimes when I was part time, but this week they wanted me to come in for 13 hours in one night, but then cut my hours for the week?!?!!?

What I really wanted to know, after some ranting and venting, is if you work overnight, do you get two days off in a row, or are they split up?

P.S. I also understand about the whole daylight not getting two days off in a row. I was daylight before, and even though I didn't get two days off in a row sometimes, sometimes I did, I still was able to go home go to sleep, wake up the next morning, enjoy my day, get another full nights worth of sleep, and wake up refreshed to go to work. Now, I come home, if I have an appointment or things to do I have to stay up, when I get home I crash, when I wake up I can't be loud or do whta I need to do because my husband is sleeping so he can go to work in the morning. I can't go to appointments at night, obviously. By the time my husband wakes up, I'm exhausted for doing not much, take a quick nap, get up shove what I need to do in a few hours, and if I'm lucky I get a quick nap before having to go to work again.
When I had two nights off in a row, I was able to recooperate and wind down alittle, now my one night of is rush, rush, rush, and im even more exhausted to have to go back to work.

I've been employed at my local WM since March of this year, will it be silly to assume I would be getting a Christmas bonus? I read somewhere that there was a 6-month "probation" period before i was eligible, but I'm still not entirely sure.Does it vary a lot from store to store? By the way,I've averaged 30-33 hours any given week.

Does anyone else have to audit the salesfloor people because their name is on the audit list? It is a waste of their time and mine, as far as auditing because they know about it. Just wondering.

Also is this audit list a compliance issue or something? My guess is that it is apart of the accounting scorecard. I can see auditing cashiers and stuff but some zms, ms, are on it and they refuse to come up because they have a bunch of projects to do. Is it that big of a deal if we decide to ignore the audit list?

has anyone else gotten one of these new boards/ it has a stack of post it notes and you are supposed to write a question for management on it and they are supposed to answer it in 24 hours on the other side. Ours has been up 2 days, and i think they will end up taking it down. people are asking great questions, but ones Management wont want to truthfully answer. They are answering by policy, but not by what actually happens in the store. Will see what happens. Some of the questions are pretty good.

Mood: pissed off

My store is now promoting that stupid survey that prints out at the top of receipts. We are given highlighters for each register and we have to highlight the website & the number for the customer to type in online (or tell the operator- ?). Then we have to let the customer know about how they can go online or call the number on the receipt. That the customer "could" [not ever] win $1,000.

This "survey" has been on the receipts forever (by that I mean for the 3 yrs I've been at WM) and I have never been told to ask about it or do anything with it until today. I hated when we had CMN and now we have to do this? Ugh. I also hate the fact that soon we're going to have to promote the WM credit cards. I hate doing this and feel like we're harassing our customers. I feel that if I go into one store this winter and am asked about anything I'll scream at the poor associate.

Hi I was just wondering about the Deli department, I have been offered the Deli Lead job and was told that the hours for that position was 5:30 till 2 working Sundays, Mondays, & Wednesday-Friday. But I have heard from other people that it was a Monday-Friday 7-4 job. so my question is, is my store trying to stick it to whoever takes this job or is it that way at other stores? The pay raise would be nice, but I don't know if I want to give up my Sundays.

Can I rant for a min?

Is anyone else on D-day right now?? I just got ANOTHER coaching today and now I'm on D-day. According to my manager, and totally unknown to me until now, you can only call in sick 4 times in a 90 day period...apparently I called in sick 6 times. I'm more prone a cold or flu than a normal person I guess? I'm just pissed that Walmart gets to tell me how often I can be sick. Is it true that you can get a doctor's note for a chronic sickness so you won't get into trouble?

Oh and management! Management has been terrible for months now! I can barely take it anymore. I never get any decency from my managers, I know that not all managers are like this, but this is just unbareable. They're trying to force full time toys and electronics employees into cashiers and god forbid I ask for a saturday night off once a month, you'd think the world had just exploded. I work in connections with two other women...one of them has sat off and the other works in the morning. But am I allowed to work in the am so I can have one night a week off? No apparently not because I've been asking for it for over a month now. My dept manager is too much of a puss to just talk to me and the other women to come to a compromise. Plus I requested off oct 31 and nov 1 on sept 19 and my manager waited until that week to talk to me about how i'm being scheduled for Halloween. He never told me that I couldn't work so when nothing popped up on my time clock to say that my r/o had been denied I assumed I was in the clear...apparently not. I'm ready to pull my hair out, I'm just trying to survive the next two months until I transfer....

anyone else in the same boat? D:

The walmart I'm at has had the whole ZMS thing in place for about a month now. Since it started I have felt more and more like there are too many things to do and not enough time to do them in.

For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to finish some late mods that an assistant manager asked me to do but I haven't been able to because I was also asked to do test scanning and price changes on the same days that I was doing mods.

While I was doing all that other stuff, I wasn't able to zone much in either HBA or cosmetics and the guy that works in HBA with me has been pulled all over the store to do other things...pushing carts, checking out at registers, returns from the service desk, and zoning food, pets, or chemicals.

I'm glad no one has yelled at me for the mess but it does make me feel unorganized to see it like that...how are we supposed to keep the store looking nice if no one has the time to do it?

Subject:just my store?-
Security:Public

This last week some changes were made to our Electronics Hub book. I'm not sure if we even had one before but now...

We have our breaks and lunch breaks scheduled for us. I guess the front end does it this way too, but it's not always that easy in electronics/connection center.

Today, between D5 and D87 we had 3 people for the majority of the day, 4 people total. Two of us were scheduled according to the book to take our lunch's at 3 and the third associate had to cut hours so was planning on leaving at 15-20 till. If we had both gone when the book said we would not have had ANYONE in the department for 20 mins. I decided to take my lunch an hour late. The problem is, it sounds like we could start getting into trouble for not taking these breaks at the predetermined time.

Is this happening anywhere else or is it just my store?
