SPOILERS BELOW!!!!

It is my humble theory that both Tyrion and Jon Snow are of the dragon bloodline.

Tyrion's mother died bearing him, and Tywin is always saying he's not his son.

And Jon Snow...well...where do I start? I think he's really Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen's son. That could account for her death, since dragons are hard to carry.

That could possibly make them the other two heads of the dragon.

Another thing about Jon Snow: if he IS Lyanna and Rhaegar's child, that makes him a Targaryen prince. Perhaps the real prince that's been promised?

Hmm?

Hi, everyone. I'm trying to get a group together in the LA area (specifically, Westwood) to discuss this series at some point. Depending on how many people respond, hopefully we can set that up. So, anyone interested? I'm aiming for a Wednesday night, but that can change.

If this isn't appropriate, let me know and I'll delete it. There didn't seem to be anything against this in the community rules, but just in case. Thanks!

Since one of my quote-posts ended up here, I thought I'd add another.

Sam: "Did I kill him?"
Tollett: "Might have punctured a lung, if he had a lung. Most trees don't, as a rule."

Bran: Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?
Eddard: That is the only time a man can be brave.

"Mercy, sire. I killed no one, I only stood at the door to watch for guards."
"Did you know what Lord Rickard intended? Did you see the knives drawn? Did you hear the shouts, the screams, the cries for mercy?"
"Aye, I did, but I took no part. I was only the watcher, I swear it ..."
"Lord Umber, this one was only the watcher. Hang him last, so he may watch the others die."

Tyrion Lannister could not have been more astonished if Aegon the Conqueror himself had burst into the room, riding on a dragon and juggling lemon pies.

Jaime Lannister: "I just wanted to hear him say 'sapphires.'"

Cersei: "I shall wear this as a badge of honor."
Robert: "Wear it in silence or I’ll honor you again."

Sandor Clegane: "Only a man who’s been burned knows what hell is truly like."

Meryn Trant: "You are quick for a dancing master."
Syrio Florel: "You are slow for a knight."

Tyrion: "Take heart, father. At least Rhaegar Targaryen is still dead."

Joffrey: "She fears me."
Tyrion: "Yes, I see. A pity Stannis and Renly aren’t twelve year old girls as well."

The rite seemed to require that everyone stand, so Tyrion saw nothing but a row of courtly asses.

Jaime: "Death by poison can seem natural. Harder to claim that my head simply fell off."

Queen of Thorns: "All these kings would do a deal better if they would put down their swords & listen to their mothers."

Oberyn Martell: "An old septon once claimed I was living proof of the goodness of the gods. Do you know why that is, Imp?"
Tyrion: "No."
Oberyn: "Why, if the gods were cruel, they would have made me my mother’s firstborn, and Doran her third."

Jaime: "Ser, you’ve been remiss in teaching our new brothers their duties."
Meryn Trant: "What duties?"
Jaime: "Keeping the king alive. How many have you lost since I left the city? Two, is it?"

Oberyn: "If I should ever find a sash beside my own bed, and pull on it, I would sooner have the scorpions fall on me than the queen in all her naked beauty."

Barristan Selmy: "King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air & the world holds its breath to see how it will land."

Cersei Lannister and Maggi’s Prophecy

A thought after finishing A Feast for Crows...

Cersei Lannister was convinced that the “younger, more beautiful” woman that Maggi prophesied as her undoing might be Margaery. This is obviously a sample of Cersei’s obsessive paranoia and her unhealthy fixation on her children...

Whilst reading, I assumed that the prophecy might refer to Daenarys, although I’m not sure that she’s more beautiful than Cersei (who is obviously quite the looker). However, a friend guessed that it might be Sansa Stark – who I’ve kinda dismissed up until now, because although Littlefinger is a very clever chap and underestimated, Sansa is still rather wet. Still, you never know.

But Cersei’s sudden imprisonment at the end of A Feast for Crows puts things in a new light! It doesn’t seem like Daenarys will have time to be Cersei’s undoing (and I will cheer if the bitch’s head comes off). Could Cersei’s ill-advised attempt to frame Margaery fulfill the Maegi’s prophecy, or do you think that Cersei’s going to get out of this somehow, so that Dany or Sansa can have a go?

I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crown and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realm of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come

Infamous quote of the North: "Winter is coming."

And my all time favorite quote, in the entire series so far...

Jaqen H'ghar: "A man would have three names."
