Well, my first post here in this community - and yay for Aussie support comms :)

My name is Lisa - I'm 21 years old and I want to lose about 26kg in total. I've lost six in the past eight weeks or so? I'm at a bit of a plateau right now and it sucks :( I can SEE that I'm losing weight but I'd really like the numbers on the scales to go down.

I don't have a measuring tape and I'm cursing myself for it! I do know I had a bust size of 106cm-110cm and now I've gone down at least one cup size - yay! I had a really pretty bra that was always too small and now it fits perfectly. That's nice :p

My starting weight was 86.6kg. That's the heaviest I've ever been and I was shocked when I stepped on the scales and realised how much weight I'd put on. I 'd really like to get down to 60kg. I'd be happy with 65, but 60 would just be amazing. So I have about 20kg to go.

I bought that Winsor Pilates pack that's always advertised on television and I have to say I really love it. It was so, so hard at first. There were a few times I couldn't even finish a 15-minute workout :(
Now I'm much fitter and I'm starting to see a difference - I'm definitely more toned, especially on my legs and my butt. I'd really love to start toning my stomach up. I'm going to buy a weighted hula hoop soon because I think that'd be a lot of fun, and it would help target my core a little more :)

I also walk, though I'm not sure how far my regular track is. I might drive around in the car and measure it that way tomorrow. It used to take me half an hour and now it takes me just over 20 minutes. I'm getting fitter!

Hopefully we can keep each other motivated :) I really want to stick with this. I feel so much better now that I'm getting regular exercise.

I'm also on SparkPeople.com - my name there is OzQueene - somebody had taken OzQueen! Damn them :p I'm finding it really helpful there because I had no idea on how to count calories. I'm also finding that foods I thought were really bad for me are actually good for me, and that I'm actually getting less than my recommended intake of calories. So I'm trying to fix that up at the moment too.

I love to cook. If I manage to make myself something nice and healthy I hope it's okay to share recipes here :)

Anyway this got ridiculously long, so I'll finish up here. I'm excited about getting support from other Aussies and tracking our progress together! :)

Hi OzQueen

(Link)

Thanks so much for joining me in this quest.
I did the driving in the car to see how far it is bit, it's nice to know how far you are getting. If you are doing it in less time, that's so great.
Just how tall are you? Because 60kg sounds fairly petite ... of course we all have different frames (mine is a large one, curse it). When I was 67kg I looked a bit bony, so about 75kg is ideal for me.

You will find that exercising will slow down the movement on the scales because of course muscle weighs more than fat. Good to hear your clothes are fitting better. But I totally know how frustrating it is to see that display on the scale stay the same or creep downwards when your clothes are telling you that you are OBVIOUSLY thinner. That's why I went for the measurements as well this time. Go buy yourself a tape measure. Even if you didn't get the first measurements, you can track your progress from here on. i think they are vital to get over a plateau on the scales.

You seem to be doing everything right and getting good results - keep at it.
What foods did you find were good for you?

I'm 164cm or so. Maybe a bit shorter. I've been 65 before but I won't mind if I can't get back there. I'll be happy with 70!

I'm walking 2.3km every day. Today I actually JOGGED the last 200 metres. I felt amazing :D Like I was going so fast. :D

It's payday tomorrow, I'll have to remember to buy a tape measure when I go grocery shopping ;) I look so much better already.

I have cut out soft drink. I really craved it at first and there were a couple of days where I had MASSIVE headaches and I think I was going through a bit of a withdrawal!

I also switched from milk chocolate to dark chocolate. I find I don't need as much dark chocolate to feel satisfied but I can still give myself a little treat now and then. I love the Lindt dark chocolate with Chilli.

Other than that I'm just eating stuff in moderation. I'm not eating as much fast food and I'm eating stuff that's really filling - like eggs on toast or baked beans - so I don't have to snack as much. I think really it's just getting into that state of mind and being able to stop once you've had enough sweets or whatever. I used to continue eating even after I was full but I've stopped that now. If you need help getting there take a look at "fatblaster" pills. They're in the supermarket. They're expensive (around $50 a box) but they really suppress my appetite so if I'm having a bad day they help me rein it in a bit ;) If you're on any other medication you should probably check with your doctor first though :)
