My tournament winning deck from last weekend.
Heyas, just thought I'd brag a little by posting my tourney winning deck from last weekend. I didn't really expect it to win, but for some reason it's been doing really well whenever I've played it.

I'm missing a few cards to make the deck better, I'd like to add a Black Tower and possibly an Alamut. Although I'm afraid that adding an Alamut will give me a little too much tablehate.

How do you deal with combat decks? It looks like you have no combat cards at all. I've seen other tournament-winning decks that were combat-light, so I guess it works in some environments.

I tried playing a city Gangrel antitribu stealth-vote deck in a tournament in Mass, and wound up sandwiched between potence decks for both my prey and predator. I got raped so fast I never even had the chance to draw into my earth melds. Then again, Mass is known for having a combat-heavy metagame environment.

There are two ways really, the deck itself is pretty resilient unless you get burned, the web of knives can rescue once they get up and the secure havens can get your main vampires out of trouble.

The other point that usually gets me out of trouble with vote decks is some careful bloating and politicking =). The deck isn't that aggressive and I can usually cut some kind of deal with another player to help me out.

The most troublesome decks are an overly aggressive weenie rush or a overly aggressive weenie intercept. Those two decks are my main concern usually.

I get asked that question a lot, since I tend to play very little combat defense. There are two main reasons why the deck can still survive well against a combat deck, and myrdinx mentioned one of them. When you're breeding weenies, you have extra guys to get in the way of rushes (protecting Amaravati) or to rescue people from torpor. I call it the Whac-A-Mole Defense, as you have too many moles for your opponent to whack down with a mallet, and they just keep popping back up again. You're usually in a holding pattern while this is going on, but it'll keep you alive.

The other reason why it's still effective against combat decks is more subtle - you're not likely to be facing a combat deck in the first place. An average table will have one, maybe 2 combat decks. The odds of a given combat deck being your initial predator are 1 in 3 (4-player table) or 1 in 4 (5-player table). I've found that you'll have a rush deck as your predator only about once every 3 tournament games, though obviously your metagame can be different. So, in one game of a 3-round tournament, you'll be at a disadvantage because you dialed down the combat defense. In two of those rounds, however, you'll be at an advantage because you dialed up in other areas.

The odds of having two combat decks as predator and prey are, on average, very, very low.

Oh, and by "combat deck", I mean "rush combat deck" as opposed to "intercept combat deck". Intercept combat decks are less of a problem, since you can use your stealth to avoid combat (and to freaking oust them). myrdinx's deck is fairly light for stealth by my standards, but I do know that the Swedish metagame is light in intercept.
