WesleyFanfiction.Net is up!
I've taken on hosting of a new archive. After much reconstruction work, it's now open to the public: WesleyFanfiction.NetWesley Fanfiction.net is an open archive, welcoming all types of Wesley-centric fan fiction. Recs News
I've updated broken URLs for the LOTR recs and Starget SG-1 recs DBs. Big thanks to Gretchen Hook for providing the new links! Also, though I haven't been posting the updates here, the Multifandom recs is now up to over 1200 stories. All better!
Versaphile.com is back up! All the ASP is working again and all the recs sites are fully functional. If any errors are spotted, please let me know so I can fix them. Because of the setup on the new ASP engine, "versaphile.com-asp" is being inserted as the parent directory for all ASP links. Unfortunately my current webhost has no way to disable this, but please do not adjust your links. Progress Report
Whofic.com is back up. It's missing the story text for about 70 fics, but it's fully functional and data is being recovered. I'm making steps on the conversion for Versaphile.com, a bit at a time. Mild disaster.
All my websites went down this week as my webhost decided to stop existing and didn't tell anyone until it had already jumped off the skyscraper, taking all my data with it. Recovery is in progress. Because of the impromptu nature of the shutdown, a lot of data was lost for whofic.com. I am attempting to recover it via Google's cache, archive.org, and my own backups. This will take some time, but it does have high priority now that the site transfer is stabilized. (Almost) all data on Versaphile.com is retained, but I've had to move from an IIS host to an Apache host and must therefore convert all the Access DBs that run the recs sites (amongst other things) to MySQL. Needless to say, this will also take some time. Fortunately I did a clean recoding of all the recs sites last year, so it shouldn't be too painful. Anyway. There is much uploading and testing and conversion work to be done before the site is ready to re-open. I hope to have it functional soon. Long Time No Update
Things have been added to the site, but I've been so busy adding them I forgot to update the news page! The biggest news is that my latest shiny new fandom is Doctor Who, and I created a little index page of Whoness as reference to what I've been doing in the fandom. In particular: Anne Ellis' Doctor Who and LOTR fic is now being hosted on Versaphile.com, by permission of Anne herself. Any feedback is forwarded to her, so if you've been meaning to tell her how much you love her fic, drop a line. A Teaspoon And An Open Mind is my latest project: a new central archive for DW fanfic, as the previous archive for the fandom bit the dust some time ago. It's automated and is just about to hit 200 stories this week. I've also set up a community for the site on LJ at ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) whofic, where news and recs specific to the site will be posted. Finally, I've uploaded a better copy of the Firefly ep "Trash" to Hello, Cowgirl. If you've been hoping for good news about the show, the DVD is coming soon and a movie is officially in the works. Regarding the recs sites, the Stargate Rec-A-Thon is still being maintained (although sporadically) by a few minions, but the LOTR Recs is currently kinda abandoned. Versaphile Recs is on hiatus since I'm pretty much rec'd out, but may return in the future if/when I get back into the mood for it. Anyone who downloaded The Message or Heart of Gold from Hello, Cowgirl before this entry: there was some corruption in the file uploads, so you'll want to re-download the fixed versions in order to view the full movies without error. Firefly Episodes
Two new Firefly episodes have been added to Hello, Cowgirl: Heart of Gold and The Message. All existing episodes are now available for downloading. I'm keeping an eye out for a better copy of Trash, so keep an eye here for news on that front. LOTR Real Person Canon
I'm working on a new section of the site: a timeline/canon for Lotrips fandom. Quite a lot of data to add, but there's enough there to be useful. Currently has a timeline, quotes from/about the actors, and some geographical info. LOTR Recs
I've uploaded the revised edition of LOTR Recs. Lots of link fixes, a few new stories, and a whole new layout. More character data is still to come, and there's a few holes in the DB from dead stories, but otherwise it's ready to go. |
