About the Community
vm_nostalgia is a community for fan fiction and challenges based on solely season one of Veronica Mars, which aired on UPN. All kinds of fic is welcome here as long as the rating is clearly marked and the fic fits within the confines of this community. More details on that will be listed in the rules below.

Challenges will be posted sporadically, mostly dependent on when we mods have time to make some up. If you have any suggestions for potential challenges, please feel free to shoot us an email via the contact info listed below. Feel free to respond to any challenge (here or otherwise) at any time and post up the result - providing, of course, that the fic fits within the limitations of this community.

Fiction Rating Guidelines
PG: No adult content or language.
PG-13: If you can watch Veronica Mars, you can read this. May include some adult content, including mild sexual situations, little violence, and swearing, such as "bitch", "hell" or "damn".
R: Contains adult situations and language. Stronger profanity, sexual situations and violence are included, as well as adult issues.
NC-17: Graphic violence and/or sexual situations.

If you're not sure where your fic fits, it's typically better to select the stronger rating and then state why you chose the given rating. (i.e. "R for strong language" versus PG-13).


The Rules
Obviously, please run spell and grammar check on your fics before posting. sTiCkY and ALL-CAPS posts are not fun to read. And inserting blank lines between paragraphs (like how this page is set up) will mean your story can be more easily read on a computer screen. Thanks.

The following rules are based off of those used at veronicamarsfic, but we will not be quite as strict in imposing the rules here as we are over there. However, the first four rules will be strictly enforced within the community and offending posts will be deleted.

Requirements for Posting
01. All fanfic posted to this community *must* fit into one of the following categories:
-Based on or around a particular Season One episode. [i.e. a fic written about what happens after Veronica, Leo, and Logan leave the 80's dance and before Veronica gets to Barstow]
-Contain no spoilers or characters or relationship content as detailed in subsequent seasons. [i.e. a fic that references Jackie or Parker would not be acceptable; however, a fic where Mac/Cassidy meet up and get involved through some other means than what was seen in canon could be posted here]
-Future fic AU with no spoilers beyond Season One. [i.e. Casey and Veronica run off together after his grandmother died, or Logan and Veronica at UCLA together]
-Preseries fic are good for this community, so long as there are no spoilers beyond Season One. [i.e. fics about Jake and Lianne's relationship are good, but fics detailing Beaver's time on Woody's Little League team would not be]
-Crossovers are acceptable, provided that there are no spoilers beyond Season One of Veronica Mars. [i.e. a fic where Logan meets up with Dr. House would probably be fine, but a fic where Sam Winchester runs into Veronica at Hearst would probably not]

Reposts of fanfics previously posted elsewhere that fit the above criteria are more than welcome. And, of course, if you need any further clarification on what does and does not fit within this community, please feel free to contact one of the mods.

02. Please post your actual story below an LJ-Cut to keep the page easily readable. (Don't know how to do an LJ-cut? See here.)

03. All fics require a rating or content remark within the header above the LJ-cut. Not all readers enjoy adult fics (or are old enough to be able to read said content), so including this information is required.

04. All posts must contain fics. Any posts containing other material [promotional posts, etc.] will be deleted.

02. We will have a tagging system in place within the community, tagging for each of the following:
-Author
-Episode spoilers (for the last episode in canon which is referenced in the story or the episode during/after which the fic diverges from canon)
-Main Character(s)
-Main Pairing(s)

These tags will be based off of the information you provide in your header.

03. Subject line should be formatted like this:

Fic: Title (Pairing/Character) Rating

or

Ficlet: Title (Pairing/Character) Rating*

or

Drabble: Title (Pairing/Character) Rating^

*Ficlet is really open to interpretation. Generally, anything under 1,000 words can be labeled a ficlet, but it's really up to the author.
^Drabbles are generally considered to be fics that are 100 words in length, but anything in that range would be acceptable.

04. There are no length limits or requirements for any challenges, and any length fics are accepted here.

05. You can respond to any challenge as many times as inspiration strikes. If you want to write more than one fic based on any of the challenges, please do. There's never enough season one Veronica Mars fic to read.

06. Feedback is to writers what sex and chocolate are to other people. We NEED it!

07. If you don't want constructive criticism on your fic, please note it above the LJ-cut. If you don't, we'll assume you don't mind constructive suggestions about how to improve.
