Challenge Show Details
VividCon Challenge 2006 -- THE REMIX!
The theme for the Challenge Vidshow for VividCon 2006 is the Vid Remix!
Take any vid that's inspired you, made you think, made you consider possibilities... and remix it! The possibilities are limited only by your imagination:
Use the same song for the same fandom, but otherwise mix it around: change the PoV, the focus, make it about other characters entirely, turn it into a comedy/drama, take a portion of the vid and turn it into entire vid of its own!
Or take the song for another fandom, drawing a comparison across fandoms, highlighting similarities, or differences, or maybe mix them up and make it a crossover!
Use a different version of the song that gives it a different feel, for the same fandom, or a different one!
Use a different song altogether, with the same (or different!) fandom, but the same concept as the original vid! Different song by same artist! Maybe as a sequel to the original vid!
Something we haven't even thought of!
The key is that the new vid draws from the original in some way, and the vidder submitting will include an explanation of how it was a remix in their own head for the program.
This challenge is different than previous challenges in that it involves someone else's vid. Because of that, there are a couple thing to keep in mind:
1) You must obtain permission from the original vidder to do your remix; we would like this to include permission to show the original vid, if time allows. When you have permission, please ask the vidder in question to keep the request secret, to protect anonymity!
2) This is not a "remake this bad vid/vid that didn't work/vid that could have been so much better/this should have been in my fandom." The idea is to take a vid you really liked and give it a twist, not prove how it "should" have been done!
About the Challenge Vidshow:
The Challenge show is a double-blind show. To submit a vid for this show, *you must agree to remain anonymous, and submit your vid without any vidder credits*. You may use a beta, of course, but should otherwise keep your identity as secret as possible. This means also keeping it a secret that you are submitting a vid -- in other words, we ask that you please share in the spirit of the anonymous entry nature of the show, and refrain from talking about your vid even in general terms until after the show.
Following the vidshow, the audience will have open discussion and critique of the vids. You may choose to reveal yourself as the vidder after this discussion takes place, if you choose, but it's up to you. Collaborations are allowed. The vids for this show are not chosen by a VJ; all challenge vids will be shown.
