Fabulous Las Vegas
Las Vegas, an ever-changing fantasy-land of a city, has seen unbelievable expansion since it emerged from the desert just over 100 years ago.

The sights and sounds of Las Vegas are enjoyed by over 39.2 million visitors every year. They stay in some of the most glamorous, unique hotels in the world. They eat at five-star restaurants and expansive buffets. They play at casinos, pools, health spas and golf courses. Sometimes (many times, actually) they even marry each other.

You will be dazzled by Vegas, but the sheer number of things to see and do can seem overwhelming.

There really isn’t a better place for things that go bump in the night to mingle with their prey.

The Finish Line

  • Mar. 11th, 2008 at 8:13 AM
It was hotter than hell as the Challenger whipped around a tight turn on the 89. Alex was glad he’d earned a new set of tires three checkpoints back when he and Corinna had arrived first. They’d won more sprints of the race than they’d lost, but right now they were driving aimlessly waiting for the next clue. Neither was sure where they were headed, but at the fringe of Arizona they knew they were running out of country for the illegal cross country race.

Kathryn NEEDED FOR RPG

  • Jan. 8th, 2008 at 9:53 PM
Hey Guys -

I'm RPing Alex over at [info]tenebrae_nostro, and I really need someone to come in and play Kathryn for awhile. Basically on TN Alex has won the Race. He's opened an auto repair shop in Los Angeles with the money he won. He's living with [info]eden_mccain from Heroes, and after not seeing her for months, Kathryn has walked into the garage.

I need someone who really wants to make Alex and Eden's lives miserable for as long as you like. I've gone along with the posts I was doing here and Tim Minear's information that Kathryn was working for the Race and EVIL. [info]tenebrae_nostro is the best RPG group I've ever played in too.

Here's the TAG for Alex's entries if you'd like to see what he's been up to since the Race ended.

Thanks! Alex Tully's mun...

Dear Jane

  • Sep. 11th, 2007 at 10:27 PM
Dear Kathryn,

I'm calling you that, because it's the only name I have for you. I was never going to tell you how much you hurt me. I know you couldn't care less about the person I was, the person you manipulated into loving you. But I did love you Kathryn. I loved you with all my heart. I was willing to give you my very life, but then you betrayed me. I won't berate you or demand to know how you could have done what you did.

I know now that conning me into loving you was part of your job. I never meant anything to you other than a paycheck. You were working for them from long before the day I saw you at the lake. But you were the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen with your long dark hair blowing on the breeze. I wanted to hold you and keep you safe forever. When you told me you were a school teacher, I believed you. Why would you lie? When you said you loved me. I felt like I could fly. When you asked me to give up driving and to stop living so recklessly, I did it. I'd have moved heaven and earth for you. When you said you'd marry me. I knew I was going to be the happiest man alive. But you were lying then too.

I don't even know your real name Kathryn. But I've remade my life now. I've used the money I won in that god forsaken race, and I've built a life that matters. I've got my shop. I've got my life, and I'm got my heart and soul. You'll never take any of that away from me again. If I ever see you on the street, I'll pretend not to know you. Not that I ever did.

Good Bye Kathryn...

Alex

He tugged the wedding ring from his key ring, sucking on his thumb nail when he nicked it. He shoved the letter and the gold band into an envelope, and sealed it tight. The sun was going down over the ocean, and he was leaning against the fender of the Challenger while the water turned from gold to amber. The water was below him, the waves crashing into the cliffs. "Good bye," he whispered as he threw the letter into the churning waves.

"Time to go home," he said to the car as he started the engine. "We're free now. Time to live."

The Checkpoints - Canon and Ours

  • Jul. 17th, 2007 at 12:28 PM
If you are writing Canon characters, feel free to jump to the end of Episode Six, where you'll be heading to checkpoint #5. If you're writing original characters/teams, you can either jump ahead or keep following along with the Race we've laid out.

Canon -
Key West, Florida - race start
Jupiter, Florida - "Fly to Jupiter and find the red eye."
Cape Canaveral, Florida - "Kennedy killed in '73."
Rome, Georgia - "After sunset, before dark"
Appomattox Court House, Virginia - "Surrender, America"
Cleveland, Ohio - "Great Balls of Fire."
Most of the racers received two hot candies, while Alex, Corinna, Sean and Winston, who had taken advantage of their head start, received a note reading "Great Balls of Fire: The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame - Cleveland"

Our Checkpoints - Hope this helps get our Race started back up.
Checkpoint 1 - Surrender America - Appomattox
Checkpoint 2 - Volunteers collect pink marbles - Knoxville, TN
Checkpoint 3 - Jefferson Crosses Convirgience - Ballard County, Kentucky
Checkpoint 4 - Let's insert the canon checkpoint and episodes 5 and 6 here - for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
Checkpoint 5 - 42 Steps to the Library - ?????

The last two episodes are available to watch on Myspace if you live in the US. Bastard FOX screws over the rest of you, I'm sorry. Hopefully someone willl figure out a way to share the episodes with you soon. If I hear about a way, I will post it on the comm.

The scripts are available HERE for all 6 episodes.

I just watched the last 2, and wow did that stir things up. I'm going to have to scrub my last Tully/Corinna/Salazar post, and start over.

Would anyone like to come up with the next clue? I'll do the Racephone graphic and all that, but would love for someone else to come up with the goal.

Try to keep it within 8 hours of driving time aka 600 miles of Checkpoint #3.

First one to reply - gets to name the destination!

Chapter 1
“I think I’m going to throw up,” Alex said as he gulped several mouthfuls of air through the open window of the Challenger. His face was pasty white, and he could taste bile in the back of his throat.

“We’ll figure it out Alex. They can’t honestly believe you’d kill someone.” Corinna ran her hands over the closed cover of her laptop. She wished that she hadn’t shown Alex the article where he’d been accused of murdering his missing wife. Now he was going to be too distracted to get to the next checkpoint let alone try to win the race. “It’s got to be a set up or something. I mean they have your truck. How did they get your truck?”

“They got my truck when our friends fucked with me to give me the car. You’d think the great manipulators would be better at keepin’ track of a little thing like my god damned truck.”

“You would like to think that wouldn’t you?” She took a deep breath and looked at the highway watching the cars streak past. The Challenger was parked on the shoulder. It wasn’t broken. It wasn’t out of gas. It was running just fine. The problem was her driver wasn’t. Alex Tully was in bad shape, and Corinna didn’t have a clue how to help. “It’s obvious there are other factions who want you to lose.”

“You think?” he snapped bitterly before shoving the door of the car open. Alex stalked across the back end of the car, and then doubled over to heave his guts out onto the pavement.

Corinna came up beside him and reached out to rub the space between his shoulder blades while he finished with the dry heaves. She jumped as a horn was sounded, and she slumped against the rear of the sleek black car as the Salazar’s Impala went flying past. “Shit.”

“Shit? No puke,” Alex said as he pushed back up to his feet. “Come out the other end.”

“No shit, Sean and Winston just passed us.” She gripped Alex’s arm and started to push him back toward the driver’s seat. “Come on, we have to catch them. We’ve got to get the flash drive back.”

“Oh yes,” Alex yanked his arm away, and stomped back to the car door. “Wouldn’t want to forget about winning this god forsaken race. What does it matter that I’m being accused of murder. You realize that it’s only a matter of time before they put two and two together, and find out about everything else I’ve ever done wrong in my life?”

“I suppose that’s bound to happen. But Alex, once we get to the end of the race, you’ll get Kathryn back. Then you’ll be free and clear, and you’ll be together.”

“You might want to get some pom-poms to go with the cheerleader routine, Corinna,” he said, snarling as he started the car back up. He glanced down the highway, but he couldn’t see even the glint of the Impala’s taillights in the distance. “You think they figured out the clue?”

“I don’t know. Sean’s a lot smarter than his brother. I’m sure they have something to go on, and I wouldn’t put it past him to crack the code on the drive.”

“If he’s cracked it, then we’ll have an advantage when we take it back.”

The Challenger hurtled onto the road with a spray of gravel. It shot between a pair of SUVs and off down the road. Alex leaned back into the comfort of the seat and wondered just how many more miles he had to go before he was free.

Checkpoint 3 answer

If you want to cheat, please feel free to see the answer to checkpoint 3 in my LJ. Just pretend your drivers roughed me up or something to get the clue.
