| Description: | Stargate Atlantis Virtual Season 6 and beyond |
Hi! Welcome to Virtual Atlantis. Our mission is to pick up where MGM let us down left off. To that end, our goal is virtual episodes that could have been actual episodes, which means if they wouldn’t put in the SGA shown on the SciFi channel, then it’s not welcome here. (More specifically, that means no R or NC-17 rated blood and guts/torture, no slash, limited swearing/profanity, no sex, and NO WIPS. If you write a mid-season/season-finale cliffie, you need to have the conclusion ready to go before you start posting.)
Also we are Gen only. If a relationship has been introduced in canon (ie. Teyla/Kanaan), it may be used in the background, but romance should not be the primary storyline of any virtual episodes. (By introduced, I do not mean hinted at/suggested/could be interpreted that way if you squint. It must have been solidly, undeniably established in canon.)
Each story/episode needs a PLOT/STORYLINE that has a beginning, middle, and end. By end, I mean that the primary storyline needs to be closed somehow -- dangling secondary storylines are fine.
This community is canon-strict! That is not to say that canon cannot be altered (ie. moving Atlantis again, getting a new expedition leader, bringing back Carson) and new elements introduced (ie. new races, new gate addresses, new enemies), but they need to be worked into the series in a feasible fashion (ie. if Season Five concludes with Woolsey as the expedition leader, Season Six cannot have a different expedition leader without a segue.)
The community is not limited to a single virtual season in which every story must fit within the same story arc, so don't feel shy about introducing new elements. With that in mind, though, if you’re unwilling to allow other writers to use elements that you introduce (new bad guys, new gate addresses, whatever) into the Stargate Atlantis universe for in stories they write/post in this community, please specify when posting. It is otherwise assumed, that others writers within this community may write within the same virtual season that you did.
Virtual episodes set during seasons 1-5 that would fit in between episodes without disrupting canon (ie, a virtual episode between "The Eye" and "Defiant One" or between "Lifeline" and "Reunion") are also welcome.
There is no word limit on the stories, but keep in mind that a 300 page novel is a miniseries, not an episode, and a 200 word flashfic is a teaser trailer, not an episode.
Lastly, please write in story form, not script form.
If you'd like to contribute a virtual episode, please post your episode (or a link thereto) to this community for consideration. (All posts are screened, pending approval.) You may also email them to me directly at kln1671@yahoo.com (please put Virtual Episode in the subject line.)
Admin’s decision not to approve an episode isn’t necessarily a judgment on quality of the writing, simply a subjective determination that the submitted work is more fanfiction than virtual episode in style and/or content. Should your story be declined as an episode, please consider posting it to my gen SGA fanfiction community,
sheps_atlantis.
Thanks!
