AboutThis is a community for posting and sharing vintage photos of all types, whether they be landscapes, family portraits, pin-up beauties, by famous photographers of yesteryear or gems found in flea markets or on the net. If it's vintage, we want to see it. Don't be shy, but try and post images that may be interesting to people that exclude your relatives and friends, too - to put it bluntly. Naturally, many of your personal photos may provide great viewing pleasure to other members. Just use your own common sense, that's all. Everything's relative.
Guidelines and rules:
- Photos should be at least 30 years old. (No new images tolerated!)
- This is an English Language community
All POSTS must be in English.
COMMENTS may be in any language.
- Please keep the images of manageable viewing size. (That is, the greatest width being no more than 750 pixels. Height - more flexible, but not much taller than 1000 pixels.)
- Please put multiple photos behind a cut tag.
- As a general rule, this is not a porn community, while vintage photos sometimes fall in this category, ask yourself if it is not better served in![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)
vintage_sex and retro__sex for your posting pleasure. In any case, any below-the waist nudity of any kind must be under a cut. Please use your best discretion on all others. This is a global community, and not all countries are as psycho puritanical about breasts as the US. Deal with it.
- If a photo may be deemed graphic and/or unsettling to others (i.e. crime photos, autopsy photos, blood, gore etc.), please place it behind a cut tag and mark the description of the photo clearly.
- No badgering, insulting or threatening of other community members will be tolerated!
- This community spans over several continents, cultures and ideas. Please respect others. If you attack or badger another community member you will lose posting privileges. Repeat offenders will be banned.
- Please put lengthy text behind a cut tag. This has been sinned against in the past... The name of this community is vintagePHOTO, keep that in mind.
- If reposting professional photographs, please credit the photographer if known. This community is mostly for private photos. Posting historical or classic photos is appropriate, but spamming AP photos defeats the spirit of the community. Posting photos that are interesting(one way or another) is the name of the game just as long as the rules are followed. Likewise, while posting vintage promotional and behind the scenes photos from movies is encouraged, posting screen grabs of old movies from your DVD player is not so much.
- This is a photo community, not a forum for promoting personal, social or political ideologies in the comments section. Inciting political or personal strife in comments may very well get your posting privileges removed. Got a message? Then let photos be your language of choice!
- Please refrain from posting videos or mp3s (No Youtube or the likes!!. Remember this is a PHOTO community!) - and refrain from posting animated gifs of stereoviews; yet you are always welcome to post them under a cut, they will occasionally be welcomed at the mods' discretion, yet they may well be deleted, too. It will be considered on a case to case basis. Some slack will be granted.
- Due to the rapid growth of membership of this community, the number of entries to be posted by one single person - per day - should not exceed three. You can fit multiple pictures in your posts beneath a cut. One picture only above the cut, as a general rule.
- Regarding the promotion of other LJ communities: If the community is of interest to the community (vintage photo and/or photography-related), be kind and promote your community just ONCE and only with a photo topical to THIS community!
