they'd have to be going faster to really look like an earthquake, but i like these. it's always interesting comparing san francisco then and now.

The wobble is just a novel and in this case topical side effect of the process.
In cases where the original cards are warped or damaged the wobble is most heinous.

It's odd which parts of SF were damaged an which ones survived...
Then you see some of the "new" buildings (like some of the garment disctrict buildings, north beach etc) and you think, god, it's a good thing there wasn't another quake. I'm amazed more old buildings didn't topple in '89.

Earthquakes feel like they're in slow motion in a way, so I feel like the shots were kinda accurate. I only say this as a native San Franciscan.

i'm from the bay area too so i know what earthquakes feel like. i can kind of see earthquakes feeling like slow motion, but they don't to me. interesting that we interpret them differently.

I love stereo pair photos, but I can't say i enjoy the animated effect. Did you make these? Are the seperate pairs available somewhere?

+1
You can sometimes find those in antique or old books shops. I saw them on sale a couple of times in little shops in Russia and in the States.

was this technique your own idea ?

to combine it with earthquake shots is genius. this should be a gallery exhibition (a whole room full of these on screens would be really powerful).

Thanks!
Several others have done this before me, I just have become obsessed with it.
The process does not work for all images, I only have about 50/50 sucsess
