Scary Twins
Here are two more pictures of my twin great-great-aunts Nor and Jess, who featured in the 1900 group photo I posted earlier. I find them slightly intimidating. In fact I'm reminded of the film 'The Shining'. However, my Dad assures me that they were a couple of jolly old ladies. The second photo features their future-undertaker brother, Bernard. I estimate that these were taken a year or so after the other one, so maybe 1901 0r 1902.

Haha, I'd say they're more 'cynical' in the first and 'raffish' in the second. Cute as buttons!

Lol I don't find them intimidating at all...They just look very earnest :)
In the group photo you posted, though, is vaguely disturbing how one of the twins' face is all faded. Or is just that you mentioned The shining and now I'm thinking in The Ring :P

Haha, those girls look like my mother when she was little. Good thing my mom was born in the 50s.

people weren't supposed to smile in photo's back then, so they always tend to look a big grumpy haha

Not scary, just intense; they have fine eyes. This collection looks to be quite a treasure-trove.

They appear as plump teenagers in another large wedding photo we have, which I can't scan in because it is sealed inside a frame. They're sitting at opposite ends of the group, rather than together, so it took me a while to recognise them.
