No. Now I'm having doubts. :(

I'll just play the piano louder and maybe no one will notice.

This is the second 'stinky piano' ad I've seen. Maybe the phrase, "I stink at the piano," has new meaning aside from not being able to play. Heh.

Actually, if I remember the ad correctly, you're supposed to raise your hand if you're sure about your underarm odor.

Obviously, she needs to raise her leg if she's sure.

It was underarm wetness, I believe.

With this young lady, if one really wants to know, one could sniff the piano bench once she leave is.

"A bear attack needs to be incorporated into this ad somehow."

I do not have the slightest idea where this notion came from, yet I find myself in complete agreement.

One request, though: can the bear be riding a little tricycle?

"Best I can do on short notice..."

I find the best you can do on short notice to be perfectly acceptable - more that so, in fact. That's a great pair of pictures.

Thanks. The picture should link you to my photoset of the entire book this came from -- it's The Bear That Wasn't, by Frank Tashlin (cartoonist, director of classic Warner Brothers cartoons, and director of live-action comedies that were practically cartoons). It's a real favorite of mine, but it's not an advertisement, so it's not something I could make a post out of here.

Tashlin did open one of his movies, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? with a series of fake ads. Since the movie is in widescreen, most TV viewers in the past got to hear the ads while reading the credits -- the fake ads vanished off the side of the screen.

That was a great movie - and I don't think I've seen it widescreen. Gonna have to hunt down a copy, now. Darn :)

Ah well, see, when I was growing up in Alaska and northwest Washington (bear country), we were always cautioned not to go camping while on our periods, because the smell of blood could attract bears. (A myth that came about some time in the sixties and has never really been successfully proven.)

But if there's anything Stephen Colbert has taught us, it's that you can really never be too vigilant against the menace that is BEARS. Even piano girl had better watch her back!

I recently took a vacation in Puerto Rico with several friends; one refused to swim in the ocean - and the water off the beach in Aricebo is incredible - because she was having her period and she didn't want to be attacked by sharks...

Oy.

I'd think a tampon would only create excessive odor that could be noticed from more than a foot away if it was hanging outside of her body. If inserted properly shouldn't it be okay?

I find this ad amusing simply because the picture reads as though some person, with their POV being the camera, just asked her this, and she is staring at them for their wildly inappropriate party question. You can almost hear here hand falling limply onto the piano keys -- 'BLUNK'.
