The new era had started one year ago. Forewarned by the now-departed Narcissa Malfoy that Death Eaters planned to attack Hogwarts and stake their claim on the centuries-old educational institution, the Order of the Phoenix and Aurors made to protect Hogwarts and the students within, ready for the attack.

When it happened, it was a hard fight. Chaos. Mayhem. Death.

And Harry Potter won.

Friends and family were lost in the fight, lives changed. The whole wizarding community changed and, slowly, lives were rebuilt into something new. Even with the threat of renegade Death Eaters plaguing the community over the last year, this hadn't stopped people from moving on. With the threat now gone at word of Rabastan Lestrange's demise, another milestone was reached. One year had now passed since the battle had been won and a memorial was held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Kingsley Shacklebolt stood at the staff table, looking out at those gathered for the traditional Hogwarts feast. Among the students at the house tables were Aurors who had fought, surviving members of the Order of the Phoenix. It gave Kingsley a sense of satisfaction to see many with partners, new families and loves having blossomed through peace.

"When the Ministry proposed a memorial, I agreed wholeheartedly. I then proceeded to overturn every choice they made. They wanted a dark, sombre affair and I felt that inappropriate." Kingsley offered a smile. "Instead, we gather here today for a celebration, a feast. We must celebrate life and celebrate the peace as well as remembering those who we have lost. This last year has not been easy, and there will no doubt be obstacles in the future but if there's one thing I think this community has in abundance, it's hope."

Kingsley lifted a goblet up, holding it high. "To hope and the future."

It was time. Rabastan applied the charms that once again transformed him into an old wizard, long grey beard, complete with dark glasses and top hat. His heart beat a little faster with anticipation. Today would mark a new beginning, a new generation of an noble bloodline would soon be here and he planned to make sure the child was educated in the old ways.

Adding the finishing touches to his disguise, he smiled at the reflection in the mirror. Perhaps he would even allow his niece to live once the baby arrived, then again, women often died in child birth.
