Remember the Zeebaclan -- the second litter of five that hit me last spring? The source of Lyl's two cow colored kitties? Well, Moonbeam, the tuxedo girl, got adopted by a trucker, and he sent me a picture of her hanging out with his son's cat. Isn't she beautiful?

Look how big Zeeby is! (aka Pounce de Leon, the brave adventurer) He's big and sleek and shiny and beautiful!

And Artichoke turned out to be a boy -- so nice that I'm not the only one who's wrong about sexing kittens. And could he look any more different than he did as a baby (points to icon)?

Mama says they're both happy and that, although she initially got them so her children could have pets, she realizes she needed them for herself too. I love it when it's a nice happy ever after ending!

Cleo, the tuxedo girl, found a home. The 2 boys have moved to [info]waterlilly's house and are still looking for new parents. I have new pictures to post late Tuesday or Wednesday.

Only 3 Zeebas left -- Cleo the black tuxedo girl, and two of the black and white boys. The boys are so wee and hairy, they just melt me. Cleo is romping with the Tigers, but the boys are not quite as brave. Poor wee sweet boys -- they need to be coddled and loved and cherished.

Blotch (the more outgoing black/white boy) clambered on a roll of paper towels and became a log roller for a while. He did very well! His brother (the very shy one) is on the heating pad after (yet another) bath. Cleo just hopped in the carrier to hang out with him.

Pounce de Leon (now Zeeby) and Artichoke/Cynara's mom emailed me with an update -- she sacrificed her knitting basket for them, and look how happy they are!

This is a garter-stitch rectangle. I used 2 strands of Sugar n Cream cotton yarn on size 11 needles. I wanted to use smaller needles for a denser fabric, but size 11 was a good compromise between that and getting it done quickly. I hung it from the sides so it would be low enough for them to scramble into, which left one corner free. I used a length of monk's cord to secure that corner from the roof.

Welcome to the zeebaclan! This is a litter of 5, 2 girls, 3 boys, 6 weeks old. (Approximate birthday April 6th, 2006.) We don't know who their parents are; my buddy J found them Tuesday afternoon and brought them to me. They have been to the vet and tested negative for feline aids, feline leukemia, and even worms.

It was recently pointed out that at Min's house we got kittens, but no zeebas. So today when I was trying to figure out what to call this litter, I asked myself "what the hell is black and white that isn't a cow or a bird" and zeebas were the answer.

you not our mama! (taken the first evening)

you not the mama!

the girls -- the black girl has white toes and a white chin and a fine white stripe on her nose, and the gray/white girl is hopelessly foofy with a squashed little face and I love them desperately

the boys -- "how are we going to tell them apart?" asked the vet tech
