Hello there, fellow vidders!

This is just a small post to warn you people that I just took some time and changed our layout and header. I was getting rather annoyed by the fact that we didn't have our own header.

It still doesn't look SO great, but I'll keep trying to come up with something. :)

Oh and if anyone happens to feel inspired and wants to try it, submissions are very much welcome.

Yesterday I had the very unwelcome discovery that a person on youtube posted my videos up as theirs... Not only did they do this but they assumed a variation of my name so they could keep the video in as is and wouldn't have to edit out my watermark or credits.  This person is BudongChowBC.  I don't have a youtube account and haven't for some time so this is very unsettling.  I need your help in solving this problem.  If any of you would like to help me in my quest to get this person to remove my videos and disband the account I would be forever grateful.  Go HERE and leave comments.  Any other help would be greatly appreciated. 

This is just completely frustrating as I put so much time and effort into creating these videos for others enjoyment and now this person stole that from me.

UPDATE: BudongChowBC on youtube has removed my videos!!! Now if only I can get them to recreate their account using their own name instead of mine things will be fantastic.  Not sure how I am going to do that though, looks like they have disabled comments. But I do have to say it was a very welcome surprise this morning. :)

I know a lot of you have a lot of problems on Youtube with stolen videos and clips.

Recently, there's been a channel/group made for combating stolen footage from vidders: ThiefWallofShame (and even a channel/group fighting against vidder id being stolen -- yes, people are also trying to steal identities on Youtube -- ThiefWallofShameID)

It's actually a group of vidders and vid watchers who look for and find stolen footage and help get rid of them through comments and featuring them on the Wall of Shame profile. They've gotten rid of over 60 vids with stolen footage.

It's sad that this sort of channel/group has to exist, but it seems to be pretty successful. Maybe it can help some of you all with your battles with clip thieves.

This is just downright tacky.

Cut out my opening sequence, replace it with their own, and then slap words all over it.

And leave my name on the thing!

They've already deleted somebody's comment in response to it, and another comment never showed up, and it's just... what makes people think "Gee! This would be a good idea to do, when there's someone's name on it!" >.<

And I don't know if it makes it funny, or if it just makes it worse, but it showed up as one of the most talked about things on YouTube, apparently, for today.

So, I've got a real rant prepared for this evening's edition of WTF?

I've had an interesting week and a half and have taken the time to contemplate the events that occurred and am now ready to share in a semi-calm fashion, that which has irritated, frustrated and pissed me off to no end. So, strap in and prepare for one hell of a bitch-fest!

First, let me say that I will be naming names and making accusations and will be making sweeping generalizations. And I won't be apologizing for any of it! 

 

Found this girl on YouTube that stole 2 of my King Arthur videos and has claimed them as her own.

The ones she took from me she has listed as "King Arthur song winter" and "King Arthur Sarmation Knights". She also has videos from others that she claims as her own and in some cases she changed the music to them. She insists that these are all hers yet she didn't even have the brains to take the titles off the videos!

Ooooh these people really tick me off!

Hey, for the first, it is not a copy. I made it after the one who created it, it's not a copy, I made it all by my self, and one movie I added my own music, so just please don't say anything before you got all the facts.

I do believe that vivisco's vid "Vertigo" is the most-posted vid I've found. Congrats on that, hon!

Description: I think this is a really well made video, but it can be a little dizzying...which of course, is the point. I got this from Veritaserum which has a ton of videos!

Now I don't know much about the HP fandom (other than they tend to be INSANE), but I've heard of Veritaserum, but not in a vid-capacity. If the vid was rightfully on there, then that part of the entry isn't alarming at all, but I thought I'd point out a potential oddity.

I joined this community when I saw Jenn's update about it on her site, because I've been wrestling with this woman on YouTube for about a month now.  She had posted several of my videos (never claiming, "ooh, I made this", but never saying she didn't either), as well as many other videos I knew and recognized from other in the GH fandom, AND what seems like over a hundred GH clips she's nipped from all over the net, including a good handful from my site.  At first I sent her a very polite message, thanking her for her interest but asking her to please remove my material from YouTube.  No response.  I tried again.  Nada.  Then, in a very mature little move, I sent her five emails every day for about a week, all with the same polite message as before.  Whole vats of nothing.  So I finally gave up, wanting to just forget about it and stop raising my blood pressure.

And then I was on YouTube again this evening, checking out a vid from someone I'd helped out, and out of morbid curiosity, looked up the offending poster.  She still has over 300 clips and videos, a few she now says she made herself (which, to be frank, suck, so I'm inclined to believe her), and she still has several of my scene clips up (with no credits), but she'd taken down all but one of my videos.  So I finally decided to go out in the open, and confront her about stealing the videos...and she'd blocked me from commenting!  So, in another fit of maturity, I registered a new name and did my commenting.

No real point to this ditty, just venting.
