Beaches or Swims
Anyone know of clothing optional beaches, or even swims, here on Vancouver Island? Even where to look would be useful, emailed Tourism and got not response! Thanks :)

I know of such a beach, but I do not know where it is... so keep looking, you'll find it!

Isn't Prior Lake (or a part of it) known for its clothing-optional-ness?!

Thetis Lake has a tiny bit of it that is clothing optional is seems. But it really is tiny, it's like a dock.

I remember some lake near Thetis being clothing optional [my family went swimming there when I was a kid]. Maybe that's Prior Lake. Not sure?

Yeah, that'd be Prior.

there's a place along the cowichan river called the "nudie pools", and yes, most people go naked there i think. i'm not too sure exactly how to get there, but i can try to find out if you're interested.

witty's lagoon, when you came down the stairs and went RIGHT instead of left, used to have a carved wooden sign warning you of possible nudity.. dunno if it's still there.. i know there's been nudes at Matheson but I don't know if that is an accepted practice...

I believe the cops have been busting the nudists at Prior Lake quite often this summer (I've heard from hikers in the area). As far as I know there aren't any sanctioned clothing optional beaches in Greater Victoria.

I seem to recall hearing that Hornby Island has a nude beach...?

At the north end of Cordova Bay, turn from Cordova Bay Road onto Fenn (there's a gas station there). Pretty quick, turn left on Parker. After a bit, there's a small beach access park & parking lot on your right. Walk north (left) along the beach past the point, and there you are. The area before the point seems pro-clothing. The sand is soft and I've always seen driftwood wind shelters, but I haven't been yet this year. It's an east-facing beach, so there's no sun in the afternoon. Enjoy.
