Hi, I recently posted a drabble I did for another community and was looking through the recent postings.

At another group, I issued a challenge of sorts and we had a good turn out for it.

Over 5 weeks I posted a weekly challenge ranging from 300 to 500 words on different subjects, from a simple word to a phrase or scene.

Would anyone be interested in doing this here?

I would love to offer up and answer the challenges myself.

Maybe someone can design an icon for the challenge?

Hello all! I've been a quiet little lurker of late, but I wanted to alert my fellow fans of Miami Vice to a couple of possibilities for fan fiction.

First of all, The Yuletide 2008 Obscure Fandom Fanfic Exchange is open for participant signups until 9pm Eastern time on Monday, November 10th. Miami Vice did indeed make it onto the list of requested fandoms, so you can request a piece of fan fiction, offer to write some or both! Yuletide is great fun and a wonderful way to both give and get a little fannish present.

Secondly, smallfandomfest has started accepting prompt submissions for their fourth small fandom ficathon, and will continue to do so until the 21st. A few MV prompts have already been submitted, but more would be wonderful! Prompts will be up for claiming on November 23rd. You can also sign up to pimp your favorite small fandom, and I don't believe anyone's written about our favorite Florida cops yet. The deadline for both fics and pimps is January 31st.

Feel free to nudge me if you have any questions about either ficfest!

When Crockett walked into The Pink Helicopter that morning, the college kid standing woozily--well, clinging really--to the bar didn't register as anything other than set dressing. Just another spoilt rich boy on break from one of the fancy universities up east, if the pale legs sticking out the bottom of those bermuda shorts were any indication. As long as he didn't get in the way of the operation, he and Crockett would get along just fine.


So when Tony Stark tapped him on the shoulder, Crockett pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. Great. Just what this sting needs. Collateral damage.

'Is that your Ferrari parked outside? That's a lot of car," Tony said.

Tubbs looked from Crockett to Tony and back. He knew the warning signs. This frat boy was gonna be trouble.

"Hey kid," Tubbs began.

"Tony." Tony said, and stuck his hand out to Crockett.

Crockett looked Tony up and down and didn't respond. "You see Delgado?" he asked Tubbs in a low growl.

"Who's Delgado?" Tony asked, brown eyes unwavering. "Come on, you can tell me. You two are detectives, right? Undercover?"

Crockett's eyes widened in alarm and he got in Tony's face. "You wanna get us all killed?"

"Well," Tony answered, chewing on the rim of his margarita glass. "Not right away.

smallfandomfest is having their third fanficfest, and the prompt-submission period is open until 05/21. So go! Go forth and prompt! I'd love to see some more Vice ideas to work with.

I know it's been forever, but I dug this out today and dusted it off. I'm hoping I can catch up and be inspired to get back into the swing of things. It's been so long, I'm sure no one remembers what was going on (I know I barely do), so here's the index to the parts to date. Hopefully my babelfish spanish isn't too terrible...

Staring at the Sun

Part 19

The ceiba tree was old, a testament to all the things that went unnamed on the monuments of Cuban Memorial Boulevard. The roots protruded above the hard-packed dirt, the sinuous buttresses man-high in places. Among the natural alcoves created by root and trunk, the scattered gleam of candle-flame twinkled in the half-light of approaching dawn, glinted off the dull metal of iron charms. Here and there Castillo could just make out cloth-wrapped bundles, smaller than the hollow of his palm, left behind as offerings. Shadows moved between the roots, solidified into the bowed back of a woman with seamed skin as dark as the bark of the tree. She turned a little to gaze at him over her shoulder, and her eyes lit up in recognition.

Delighted that this community exist!

I have just recently found the Vice again, and I am in the process of searching the web for fics, and more importantly, re-watching the series. My intention is to take notes as I watch, especially to dig out details and elements that I consider fic inspiring. Watched the Pilot a few days ago, and now I can't get Phil Collins out of my mind. My thoughts about that and the rest of the episode in my journal.

If anyone feels inclined to share their comments about the Pilot, please feel free to!

Another little thing, somewhat inspired by another prompt left by oddmonster, which was originally "Three things Sonny's never gonna say to Castillo" but instead morphed into Stan's POV. It will become obvious that this is pre-Down for the Count.

Note to Self: Things Not To Discuss, Ever

With a boss like Lt. Castillo, you learn quick to tread lightly. Or, if you're Stan Switek, you mostly stick your head up your ass twenty times before you figure out Which Subjects Not To Discuss. If Stan feels like being a particular smart ass these would be:

This piece of fluff is for oddmonster who gave me "Bug Van Porn" when I asked for drabble prompts awhile back. It's a double drabble I guess.  Alas, I have no Stan/Larry icon. I took the most obvious possible approach. At least I'm writing something. Apologies to hellocleveland, who has waited SO LONG for a piece of Vice Fic, and this is what I spit out...:) Obviously, this is Stan/Larry of a sort, but totally G rated.

A friend has pointed out that our little fandom needs a kick in the ass, so I figure I will nominate myself to do it. A decent beta reader I am, but a fiction writer I am not. So I want to challenge all of you out there (all 5, 8, 10 of you??) to give this a shot. Come on, let's show those big fandoms what we're made of. Don't make me call any one out by name, k?

So in case you don't know what a Drabble is, all you have to do is create a story using the following words:

exit, detonation, libido, wound*, glycogen, elation

There is usually a word limit on drabble, but i won't do one....if creative juices flow, i don't want to stop anyone.

And if I can add to the challenge, I would like all these characters represented in the story (can i do that? i think i can):

Crockett, Tubbs, Castillo, Gina, Trudy, Switek, Zito, Izzy, a bad IAD person & Tommie the mechanic
