The theme of the next contest will be: fly/flying. Interpret any way you like! The icon does not necessarily have to have either of those words on it :)

Anything goes, as long as it's any villain from any video game. You may submit two icons for this contest. Entries are due by next Friday (4/15) at 3pm, in order to try and increase the amount of entries. Submissions should look like this:

I was very pleased with the icon submissions this week, especially in the diversity of games represented. As I mentioned, since so few people entered, there are only first and second place winners.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone that participated. Theme post and banners will soon follow. I'm a little disappointed that only 4 people entered, and only 6 people voted, especially the voting part...it only takes a couple of seconds. We really need more members, that's part of the problem, but I don't really know how I can make that happen...hmm...any suggestions?

Speaking of needing members, if anyone likes Final Fantasy VIII,

Ok, so I had an idea. I went over to

vg_icon_awards, and they are closed :( R.I.P. to a very good community.

But this inspired an idea. Instead of having to make an icon to enter in the contest, you can nominate one! This gives people who don't make icons more of a chance to participate.

So here are some new rules for this icontest, which will be permanent depending on whether or not this works out:
1)You may choose, in addition to (or instead of) entering one or two icons that you made, to nominate an icon that goes along with the theme of the current contest. SO, if for example you found a really good icon of a video game villain that represented the theme "revenge" (and remember that themes are up for broad interpretation) you could enter it in our latest contest!
SO, you may enter two icons that you made, and/or one icon that someone else made.
2) (a)When entering someone else's icon, please make it just like any other entry with the < img src > tag and URL, etc., but also include who's icon it is and where you found it :)
(b)When entering your own, please indicate that you made it.
3)I no longer care if you made your entry especially for this contest, since any nominations would not be made especially for this contest.
4)When the winners are announced, I will also announce who nominated who, unless you tell me you don't want this info revealed.

SO ENTER YOUR ICONS AND/OR NOMINATE SOMEONE ELSE'S! XD

This could be a really good, or really bad idea. I think it might help things to get going around here. What do you guys think? We may just have enough icons to run a contest by tomorrow, especially if people

We only need 3-4 more people to submit icons to have a contest...I wonder why noone is entering. Something wrong with the theme? We have around 20 members, so that shouldn't be the problem. Enter? Please?

I noticed that we have gotten a few new members lately, so I just thought I would say welcome!

General announcements:
-The latest contest is still going on. I will post the voting post when at least 5 people have submitted icons. We only need a few more, so please submit so we can get this place going! Please read the rules and then enter here.
-It looks like I have a co-mod for both this community and

vg_heroes. I also have banner makers, but I could maybe use one more for this community :)
-Thanks again to everyone for joining! If you joined because you like making icons, please enter the latest contest! :)
-Remember that icon entries can be from any video game. We've gotten a lot of Final Fantasy entries here,which is fine, but I like diveristy in the entries :) Originality in the choice of video game will be considered for Mod's choice.

swift_epiphany. We can't hold any voting yet, because there are still only a couple of entries for the last contest. Please don't let the community die :( If you think this community should stay alive, please submit an icon (OR TWO :)HERE if you would like to enter the contest ASAP. Sorry about the long hiatus without an update. I just got back to school a couple of weeks ago, and things have been hectic. Plus, there has been a serious lack of entries.
