| What if ... |
But what if? What if things weren't what you were familiar with? What if ...
Sometimes the only thing that could have changed a tragedy to a triumph is something as simple as turning a different corner. What if ...
These 'what if's' shape who we are, and who the characters are. A difference of one thing can lead a person or character down an entirely different path. What if ...
What if Lestat wasn't turned? What if Nicki hadn't turned suicidal? What if Those Who Must Be Kept ... didn't want kept and had instead ... kept living?
What if Memnoch ... had a bet with a God? Not just any god, but a god of Mischief and Misrule, named Loki?
These aren't the same old challenges, plots, and people... because they turned a different corner somewhere in their life. A human Lestat, taken before he could bleed to death in the snow of the bitterest winter his region had known... dropped down in modern day New Orleans. Nicki is a childhood memory. Louis is an unknown. Vampires? Hm. Right...
But it doesn't end there! People appearing from different time periods. Different Universes where everyone turned a different corner, leading them to something different ...
Perhaps Claudia was never turned and Lestat and Louis had never crossed her path. Louis without that bit of pain ... Or perhaps ... a universe where they killed Lestat ... and he stayed dead!
All of them appearing one by one ... staggered and confused ... people they think they know, only to discover things aren't what they should be... and worse yet? Running into their duplicates!
And let's not forget the bet! The bet between Loki and Memnoch. It is a bit of an experiment, a prank, and entertainment for them all rolled into one! And we can't let them get bored! If Memnoch gets bored, he may just remove you. But don't worry, occasionally he'll give you something to contend with!
Perhaps you'll wake up to discover ... ah but that is a surprise ... |

| Phan fiction, with a twist |
[16 Jul 2006|09:04pm] |
I got (what I think to be) the brilliant idea of crossing Susan Kay's version of The Phantom of the Opera with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, particularly The Vampire Lestat. So, here it is.
Title: The Lost Pages: Part One
Rating: a pretty steady PG-13
Disclaimer: I totally own everything, so just the hell up. I'm aware of Ms. Rice's ban against fan fiction, I just choose to completely ignore it. As for Erik, well...he's owned by many, but I'm giving most of my credit to Kay and Leroux, this time.
Plot/Characters: The Vampire Lestat meets Erik. The point of view alternates between the two characters, every other chapter, beginning with Lestat. Their story takes place before all that Christine business. I've not yet decided exactly how slashy I want to get with this. Not too terribly AU, just filling in some blanks in both stories.
Feedback: What do you think? Suggestions? Comments? Constructive critisism?
x-posted
( This is, of course, purely a work of fiction... )

| Good evening, and a question. |
[16 Jul 2006|04:47pm] |
Hello everyone. I'm Johnny, John-boy, Gerard or JRM (don't ask). -_-' As you can probably tell my friends are slightly off the wall. I'm just quietly off the wall, I guess. So. I'm posting because I have a habit of being a lurker and I'm trying to break myself of it. I simply loved Interview with the Vampire, and identified with Louis right away. As I read on, though I realized that the writing was not so stunning as in the first book, I couldn't put the novels down. I've read through all of them, and I'm pleased to find a devoted but welcoming community devoted to Anne's series.
Now. The question. Does anyone feel completely betrayed by the abomination that is the QotD movie? And does anyone feel that Lestat and Louis are simply MEANT for eachother? Because I answer yes to both, but I'd like to hear from all of you.
*Vampire kisses*, Johnny

Does anyone know where I can get a good Interview with the Vampire layout? I've been dying to find one, but I've had no luck. I have one, a halfway crappy one that can only be used in IE (I use Mozilla), so. Does anyone know if there's a good IwtV layout out there? Please?

I recommend that if anyone has the opportunity to see "Lestat" at the Curran Theater in SF before the show goes to Broadway, go! It's probably one of the most beautiful acts i've ever had the chance to see, as well as the most visually and musically stimulating. You've only got until the end of January! Then you'll hafta go to New York ^^. If you're already in New York, then yay for you ^______^.
I had a great time at the show. I couldn't take my eyes of the stage for even a split second. I don't believe I turned away once. The sets were like nothing I have ever seen before. Large and extravagant and filled with as much detail as an Anne Rice novel! Ha. And seeing the characters brought to life in such a way gave me chills! Especially to see Nicolas! Oh.... my Nicolas <3 And though I loved all the characters, I'd have to say that Armand was my favorite. Though the person who happened to being playing Armand on that particular night was not the original actor assigned to the role, I couldn't imagine him played any other way and by anyone else. I thought he was amazing, and I fell in love with him even more so than Lestat. -=sigh=- I was waiting for this production for so long and I actually got to see it! I am completely satisfied, and it was much better than I could have possibly imagined.
