so we (the psa-ers) are wanting to do a ritual for new years. here is the basic plan:
group cleansing invocation we are thinking of calling on an allbeing sort of divinity as apposed to calling on a god goddess call quarters grounding guided meditation group naming here each person who comes proclaims an aspect of divinity (like love, or comfort), or an archetype (mother, warrior), or a concept( death, rebirth) that they feel they want to represent. so each person is representing something of the divine. as each person takes his or her turn , he or she will light a candle. when we complete the circle the person who started will step forward and place his or her candle on the alter in the middle. moving chant releasing the corners and thanking divinity affirmation of self out of the circle
so thats the basic outline. anyone who is interested is welcome, more than welcome, the more the merrier. so post here or give me a call if you think you can make it and/or have any suggestions for a location.

Okay, okay, okay, okay. I know parties have been discussed in the last couple of months, but I'm bad at keeping track of these things. And we didn't have a meeting this week, so I wasn't able to bring this up here. So, everyone fill me in: what parties and similar Halloween and/or Samhain events are happening since tomorrow? (I have been and will be too busy to attend anything before then)
Also. I need face paints. Any ideas?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if a few of you, in the Austin area, would be willing to help me out with my Advertising Research class project. My group is having to hold a focus group on energy drinks. I would love it if 2-3 of you very nice people would be willing to part with some time, at the moment Monday in the evening-ish (after 4p), and participate in this focus group.
I hope some of you can help me :), just comment here and tell me if you would be willing to do this wonderful thing.
EDIT: I totally spaced, it is Monday, not Friday. Grr, and I wonder why no one responds....

Some of you may know this by now, but I thought I'd put it out there:
Natural Magic is closing at the end of the month. I will be going over there tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to join me for some serious sales and to wish Cedar and Sarah luck in their next ventures.

A little while ago I had posted that I almost got hit by a train and asked who to call. I thought I would share with you what happened after that since that may not be the only crossing that's completely retarded.
The lights were not malfunctioning... they've never worked at all. They're turned inwards to indicate this, but nobody notices that unless they look really closely... like after they've almost hit by a train.
I reported it to the appropriate department in DPS and they said they would take care of it, but after a couple of weeks they hadn't done anything about it. So I made a complaint with them and they passed the buck to the railroad company that owns the crossing. I asked if they could verify if the railroad company was ever informed, and if they could give me the information for the railroad company so I could file a complaint with them, and I got no answer.
At that point I contacted Fox news, thinking of a "7 on your side" type thing, but they have a segment called "Tattletales" they sent me to instead. They interviewed me at the crossing and then investigated, and the story aired this morning. (I hope you didn't see it, I look like such a dork.)
Anyway, Capital Metro owns that crossing and claims that it's still "new" and that's why they don't work (it's been there since at least April, I have no idea how long before that), and rather than cover the lights with bags to indicate they're not working, they decided to just turn them inward so people would know. Unfortunately, people really don't notice. They said that they're waiting for the proper permissions and funding but that "eventually" the lights will work and there will be bars and bells and everything.
Everyone be careful at railroad crossings, particuarly the one at Adelphi and Water's Park. Keep in mind that Capital Metro is in no hurry to assure your safety. (How fast do you think that crossing will be up and running when a minivan full of family gets hit there?)

I finally got a room confirmation for our meetings this year. We've got SZB 286 (same room as last year) reserved every WEDNESDAY from 7 to 9. Dani & I had to switch the meeting day since we both have schedule conflicts, hope Wednesday is equally good for everyone. I did not save the room for tomorrow though, I figure we're all going to be doing things like standing in line for course packets.

So I'm a lazy paper pusher and I haven't done all the beginning of the year PSA stuff. I need to know a couple things.
1. Do we still want to meet on campus? There was some talk last year about not meeting as often or changing the meeting time or meeting at people's houses or meeting at cafes etc etc. Who is still planning on coming to meetings and where/when do you want them?
2. If we're going to meet on campus I need 2 students to volunteer up their EIDs

Please get the word out:
A group in Houston and I'm sure elsewhere are meeting tomorrow. Sunshine dearly wishes she could be here to act on the recent news, but since she can not I am acting in her stead. There will be a meeting tomorrow night for all those in the Austin community that wish to attend. This will be to discuss the recent drama and to determine a position we can unite behind as a community and bring forward to the rest of CMA. This will be partly a bitching meeting but mostly an action meeting - because some kind of action is needed. We can not continue to bitch and expect things in this organization to change.
I don't know many of you but Sunshine requested this and I deeply respect her. Because I'm not fond of trying to talk in bars, I will host this at my, Lance and Alex's house. I know this is short notice and north and all, but I hope many of you will make an effort to come together and communicate ideas and opinions with an aim towards resolving the disputes in CMA for the good and harmony of us all.
We live at 3105 Leaf Circle. Please be here at 7:30, and please bring your own munchies and drinks as I will not have the time or money to provide for everyone. Children are welcome, I have plenty for them to watch and play with, however, animals are not welcome as I have a quite finicky cat.
I hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow night, and I hope that all this is resolved as quickly as possible.

Howdy,
My name is Colin Kalmbacher and as you may or may not know, I am running for City Council Place 5 here in Austin.
As your City Councilmember I will:
* Fix Austin's broken and bleeding affordable housing mess * Combat gentrification and economic stalemate in East Austin * Increase Public Transportation and walkability across the City * Keep developers off the Edwards Aquifer and away from Barton Springs * Oppose toll roads with every ounce of fight in my soul
Those are just a few of my plans for Austin, but I can’t do it alone. To seriously take on McCracken’s Machine I’m going to need your support.
First and foremost I need you to get out to the polls on May 13th. Better than that, I'm asking you to get to the polls EARLY and vote Kalmbacher. Early voting is May 1-9.
But we also need your financial support.
The incumbent is a lawyer with huge coffers that we can't hope to match. But we can make a dent.
Please click on the following link to make an on-line contributionusing a credit or debit card.

Thank you and Godspeed,
