They always did say that man would never fill God's shoes, and perhaps they were right.

Having been held under the threat of nuclear war for decades, in 2037, the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States began a secret operation, Operation Utopian Heights, as an attempt to preempt such attacks in a manner that would leave the people of the country unscathed. Many different options were considered, ranging from simply stocking up on nuclear weaponry to creating an underground shelter which spanned the length of the country itself, but in the end, the main idea which OUH decided to work with was that of genetics, of altering the human blueprint itself to render citizens capable of resisting the damaging effects of radiation. After all, the field itself had hardly been tapped into for fear of enraging so-called human rights activists who were under some absurd belief that tinkering with human DNA was unethical, that there would be an imbalance of power between those who had such alteration and those who couldn't afford it, that most of all embryoes and fetuses had not the agency to make such decisions for themselves.

And perhaps, on a certain level, they were right. However, when compared to the threat of mass genocide, the government reasoned, perhaps it was necessary to venture into the realm of the morally questionable for the sake of the survival of humanity as a whole.

Prisoners, immigrants, anyone clueless enough to 'sign on the dotted line, please,' were gathered together on Yucca Mountain, Nevada, and shoved into lodgings not five minutes away from one of the world's largest nuclear waste sites to date. Meanwhile, the world's top geneticists were gathered in luxurious Las Vegas hotels to conduct their research, each given a free pass to tinker all they wanted--a dream come true, for some.

Thirty years later, long after Kim Jong-Il and his lackeys had passed away, long after the majority of the world's nuclear weapons had been confiscated, those who had survived the decades-long experiment (including their children, some born during all the tests and mayhem) were finally released, each given a couple million dollars to stay quiet and to start anew. Some were fortunate enough to leave with a few scars, a few burns. Some left with their organs practically destroyed, left with not many years before passing away, prize money to be quickly retrieved by the CIA, who had expected such an outcome.

Some others, however, left with abilities beyond anyone's wildest imagination, abilities that began to surface as they finally spent time away from the physically and mentally repressing nuclear waste site.

These are the children of the New Utopia.

Welcome to Utopian Heights, an advanced Alternate Universe Weekly Shounen Jump Multi-Fandom Roleplay which revolves around the concept of superheroes, supervillains, and fighting for Great Justice!

The year is 2067, and the game is set in the United States, largely centering around the city of Las Vegas. This particular game will have an emphasis on plot advancement through character journal entries and logs, the first to be done in first person, and the latter written in third person, past tense.
