[04 Mar 2009|04:25pm] |
Hi Guys
My name is Jennifer and I am a casting associate at MTV. Right now we are casting for an upcoming episode of True Life. For this episode, we are looking for people who are at odds with their parents for one reason or another. Whether it is because of your major, relationships, or your lifestyle, MTV is interested in hearing your story. I would also appreciate if you could pass it along to anyone else you may know.
You can email your situations to Parents@mtvnmix.com with their name, age, location, phone number, and recent photo.
Thanks, and feel free to message me with any questions Jennifer
You can also view the full casting flyer at MTV.com at the True Life section

| Man BItes God Music Video Competition |
[09 Sep 2008|12:45am] |
Australian band, Man Bites God are bribing aspiring film makers with a chance to win AU$500 by making a music video featuring a Man Bites God song of their choice.
“A number of fans have made their own music videos for the band over the last few years and we wanted to recognise their efforts with a competition”, explains the band’s drummer and professional video director Chris Tomkins. “We’re not expecting anything amazingly polished for the $500 prize, we just want to see what great ideas are out there.”
The competition runs until November and is a simple as choosing a Man Bites God song, making a video and uploading to Man Bites God’s YouTube channel in order to be judged in November.
The band are looking for anything from surreal to literal, live-action, machinema, animation or some other technique that hasn’t been invented yet.
Details of the competition are available on the band's website http://www.manbitesgod.com or by watching the video on their youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/manbitesgod.

Oh man. So many questions right now.
Alright: How do you apply for assistantships (teaching, especially)? Do you apply while you're applying to the school or after you're accepted?

To anyone who is applying/has applied to the Production MFA: how much did you include in your portfolio? I feel like this is supposed to include mostly things you've had published (of which I have a few, but not more than 10. In fact, probably less than 10. Probably like 5). Is that right? Published work and not just work? And is this normal to have a small (but varied) sample?

QUESTION: Why isn't the film school here more integrated? It really sucks how I just go to a building and have classes with a select few people in my year who I never see again throughout the week. I want to actually MEET some of you guys. What can we do to change this?

My main question is: When did you get your acceptance letter?
Three people I know who applied to USC by their December 10th deadline already got their acceptances, and it's not even February yet. WTF! But they applied to Letter & Science, so I don't know if the times are different than F&TV. I also applied to two majors since I want to double-major: production and screen-writing. Will it take longer to process and review?
Hopefully, since I am currently scared shitless because USC is my top choice and I'm beginning to have some doubts. I also applied for their scholarships and I am afraid that the people who are getting in earlier are getting the scholarships that I want.
I'm greedy. I want money. I want to get in. I'm totally nervous and I always have a small, bright hope inside me that maybe the letter will come when I check the mail. But then I check it, and that ray of hope inside me dies a little. Please, someone out there, revive my poor spirits...
